A Strange Way to Fall in Love Chapter Twenty Nine
I went straight home. I could feel my heart sinking as everything was starting to sink in. I just wanted Kyle to be here with me. It was so hard to be away from him. I could not help but feel so close to him even after years of separation. Everything we went through when we were younger just made me want his company that much more. Kyle understood everything that I have gone through. I know I can count on him for everything. I just want him home. But it was going to be a while before that happened. I needed to get my mind off of him. I do not need to get him completely out of my mind but just enough to were I will not be so depressed. I can survive this and I will wait it out. In the end it will be worth everything and so much more.
"Hey Lola, what are you doing back so soon," Horatio asked as I walked through the door.
"It was time for Kyle's flight," I stated.
"Are you okay," he asked worried.
"I guess," I said as I shrugged my shoulders. "I a, just really worried. I know I will miss him a lot!"
"It comes with his job," Horatio said as if it was no big deal. "Did he give you anything?"
"No; I am going to go take a nap," I said as I let out a sigh.
I left the room without Horatio giving me an answer. I did not really care. I just wanted these months to disappear quickly. But no matter how many times I closed my eyes and wished I just never happened.
I was woken up by Horatio asking something. I completely ignored him and rolled over and tried to go back to sleep. In all reality, I was not tired at all. I wanted to escape this world. I wanted Kyle to be back home ASAP! I wanted him to hold me a while we sat on the couch and watched a movie.
"Lola," Horatio said as he busted into my room. "You have to get on with your life! Kyle will come back."
"I just want him back home with me," I stated.
"Everyone does. But you do not see us moping around." He said as he threw the curtains open.
"You cannot say anything at all. You do not love him like I do!" I said. I did not realize how harsh those words were util they came out of my mouth. "Horatio! I am sorry. I am just cranky!"
"No, you are right. You love as a boyfriend. I love him as a son," he stated and then walked out of my room.
I could not believe I had just said that. I felt awful but Horatio was completely right. I loved him as a boyfriend and Horatio, strangely, loved him as a son. How can you love someone who you really do not know. I mean Horatio only found out that Kyle was his son not long ago. How can you instantly love someone that fast? Is that a dumb question. Is it the same as being finding the man you will marry? I had no idea.
The day went on and I had to eventually go back to work. It was a nice sunny day and I was as gloomy as could be. I was actually kind of nervous to be back at work. Especially, after the car crash I had witnessed. But I knew everything would be fine because I knew what I was suppose to do. It all come effortless to me. Thankfully!
Finally, my shift was done! I was free and I had nothing to do. It was a bit depressing. I kind of wanted to go see Melody and Mark but I knew they needed their rest and I had no idea if they were at home or still in the hospital.
I got home and sat down. It wash hard to believe that just the day before last that Kyle and I were sitting right here cuddling.
I hated sitting here and making myself depressed. I got off the couch and grabbed my purse. I was going to go see Horatio at work.
Once I had gotten to his office he was not there so I asked around and figured out he was on a case at the airport. I got a cab out to the airport and saw Horatio's hummer sitting by some rivals jets. He was out and there was a guy not to far from him. I could not believe the what I was seeing. The guy had pulled a gun on Horatio and Horatio did not even bother to draw his gun! I however, had thankfully put my taser in my purse before I had left the house. Before I knew what was happening, Horatio had been shot and I ran up behind the guy and used my taser on him.
All the sudden, I felt a gun to the back of my neck.
"Drop it," a man's voice demanded.
I did exactly what he told me. As soon as it hit the ground I felt a rag being put over my mouth. I knew it had chloroform on it. I held my breathe and only breathing when I really had to. All the sudden it hit me, Horatio laid in the pavement and was not moving. Was he dead? Horatio cannot die. He is the only family I have. What would I do without him??
Before I realized it, everything was getting fuzzy. I was breathing in the chloroform. Stupid me. Here I am and I just lost my chance to help Horatio! Man, was I stupid for not keeping calm.
I woke up and I saw Horatio looking over me.
"Am I dead," I asked confused.
"Not yet," he said angry. "What in earth were you doing out here? And how did you find me?"
"I asked around at your work," I said as I hugged his neck.
"Oww," he muttered.
"Sorry, I thought you were dead," I said. "Are you hurt?"
"No, I am completely fine," He stated.
"But you got shot," I said.
"I know but I had on a bulletin proof vest," he said as he smiled.
"Thank you," I said.
"Does your head hurt," Horatio asked worried.
"Not really; I feel time," I said as I sat up. "What happened?"
"You are lucky Lola! The FBI had came with me and right as the bad guy was whisking you away, they stepped in," he said.
"How did I manage to get passed them," I asked confused.
"We have no idea. They said you came from nowhere," he stated.
I stood up and grabbed onto Horatio as my head started spinning.
"I am fine Horatio," I stated before he could ask if I was alright.
"If you say so," he said.
I hugged him again and held on tight.
"I thought I had lost you," I said on the verge of crying.
"You cannot get rid of me that easy," he said.
"Good," I said. "I am so sorry for this morning and last night!"
"You're fine," he smiled.
"How come I had blood on me," I asked in discuss.
"One of the agents shot the guy who was dragging you away," Horatio said.
"Oh okay. To other people my life would be one heck of life. But it is so natural to me," I said as I started babbling.
"It is all you have ever known," Horatio stated.
"Are kids like me who have grown up in the orphanages and foster home like this," I asked curious.
"What do you mean," he asked confused.
"Do they lead a exciting life like the one I live.," I asked.
"Nope; just you and Kyle," Horatio said winked, "lets go to the house!"
"I second that," I said agreeing.
