It's Complicated Chapter Fifty Six
Jasper's POV
We arrived at home. It was a long drive. Lila and I both stretched as we got off the bike. We rushed inside to see the family who was waiting in the living room.
We said hello to everyone and hugged each of them.
"School is awesome," I said as I signed.
"Amazing," Lila signed sarcastically.
"It cannot be that bad," Edward signed to Lila.
"No one likes me," Lila signed.
"With time it will get better," mom signed and hugged her.
Lila hugged mom back but did not seem to believe her.
"So I thought we could go to the diner and get dinner," mom signed, "I did not have time to go to the grocery store before you two got here!"
"That's fine with me," I signed.
"Yeah same here, Lila signed.
We piled into the cars and made our way there. It was not a quiet care ride either. Everyone was talking. Even Lila!
"Lila have you met any boys," Rose asked.
"Just Jasper's friend," she signed, "I don't even remember his name!"
"He must not be too cute," Rose signed laughing.
"I don't remember," Lila signed.
"How is your roommate," Alice asked signing.
"I can't see your hands. It is too dark," I said.
This was the bad thing about being deaf. You could never talk in the dark which was annoying to me.
We arrived at the diner. Lila was happy because I was starving.
"What did you sign in the car," I asked once we got inside.
"Umm, Lila," I signed.
"What," Lila asked confused.
I pointed across the room and there sat Jake, Billy, and Charlie.
"We can go if you want," Esme signed.
"No, we can eat and not talk to them," Lila signed.
We sat down at a table and Lila sat with her back towards them. But I could tell she was not comfortable to sit with my back towards Jake. Surely, Charlie will not let him come speak to me.
"Change seats with me," Lila signed to Alice, "please!"
"No problem! I would not want my back to him either," she signed
"Are you sure you are okay," Carlisle asked.
"We can eat here," Lila signed.
I noticed Lila looking across the room. Billy was sitting there laughing. It seemed like this was a regular thing for them to do. Jake was kind of laughing along. He seemed like he wanted to look over but knew better than to look.
Lila's POV
Everything came rushing back to me.
I looked up at Sam who was looking down at me. I blinked a couple more times. My vision was foggy. I felt a sharp blow to my head. I could hear people laughing. My instincts where to curl into a ball. I tried. But nothing help. I was to weak and defenseless.
"Lila," Jake signed as he waved a hand in front of my face.
"Sorry," I signed frightened.
"Are you okay," Carlisle signed worried.
"I'm fine," I signed lying.
I was frightened. Was that a flashback of what just happened? That was scary. No wonder Jasper did not want to tell me. Was that all of it though? Why am I just now remembering this?
"Why were you zoned out," Jasper asked signing.
"I was just thinking," I signed.
Jasper looked at me; he knew I was lying. Most people could read my like an open book. Which was scary because I did not like people knowing I was lying or if something was going on.
We ordered our food and I glanced back at Jake. As soon as I looked his way he quickly looked to his food.
I felt something make contact with head again. I looked up and it was Sam and Jake.
"She is so out of it," a voice said.
I felt more sharp blows to my head. I was crying; I could feel tears poring down my face. I turned over onto my stomach. I put my right hand out and dug my nails into the ground. I tried to pull myself away from the pain.
I felt someone hit me on the shoulder. I instant,y jumped out of my chair.
"Sorry," Jasper signed, "what is wrong?"
"Nothing," I signed.
"Something is wrong. You are sweating like you have been working out," he signed.
"I need air," I signed.
I got up and tried to hurry my way towards the door. The room was starting to spin. I did not want collapse in front everyone. I knew Jasper was following me. I knew he would catch me if I passed out. I made it to the car and leaned against it.
"What is wrong," Jasper asked as he got to the car.
"I saw it; I saw it all," I signed, "I think I saw it all!"
"Lila, take deep breaths," He signed demanding, "what are you talking about?"
"I saw it. It was Jake and Sam," I signed trying not to cry.
Jasper instantly wrapped me in a hug. I broke down.
"I'm scared," I signed as I pulled away.
"Shh, calm down," Jasper signed, "everything is fine. He cannot hurt you!"
"He is sitting right there," I signed pointing at him.
Charlie was making his way for the door. Great that is all I needed.
"You're okay," Jasper signed.
"Everything okay," Charlie asked.
"Just some memories," I said.
"Okay, just making sure everything okay," he said.
"Thank you Charlie," Jasper said.
I watched Charlie go back inside. I knew he was telling Billy and Jake. They both looked out the window at Jasper and I.
"Let's go eat dinner," Jasper signed, "do you want to go back in there?"
"Okay, I guess so," I signed.
I followed him inside and sat down.
"Sorry," I signed embarrassed.
"Is everything okay," Esme asked really worried.
"I'm fine. Stop it Jasper," I signed annoyed.
Jasper had been signing to Carlisle when I was not looking.
"Sorry," he signed.
"Lila this is serious," Carlisle sighed, "we should probably get a MRI or CAT scan."
"I am fine," I signed, "I not doing any of those!"
"Lila, it is better to be on the safe side," Esme signed.
"No," I said as I looked down and ate my food.
There was no one I was getting those. I was home for tonight, Saturday, and some of Sunday, I was not ruining my weekend by spending it in the hospital.
I looked across the room for a split second and see Jake stations at us while we ate. Did I not have some kind of restraining order to keep him away from me? I wish I did!
I saw Rose waving a hand at me.
"Jasper told us you are a fantastic dancer," Rose signed.
"Is it true," Alice signed.
"Doubt it, I was messing around. No one should have seen it," I signed.
"Why not? Will said you were amazing," Jasper signed, "his sister is dancer!"
"Will had no idea what he is talking about," I signed.
"Lila could be right," Emmett signed.
"Thank you Emmett," I signed.
"But then again Lila is never right," Edward teased.
"Edward," Esme signed.
"It we only a joke mom," Edward signed.
"It's fine! It's actually kind of funny," I signed.
We finished up dinner and eventually left. Tonight was so weird. I hate seeing Billy and Jake. All I wanted to do was go over there and hug them. But at the same time I was terrified of Jake. I missed them a lot though.
Once we got home we sat around and watched tv. But everyone started getting ready for bed so I did the same.
I jumped on my bed as Jasper walked in.
"What's up," I asked signing.
"Wanna stay up a bit and talk," he asked.
"Yeah," I signed as I patted my bed.
Jasper sat at the footboard and I threw a pillow his way.
"Thanks," I signed.
"I'm glad to be home," he signed.
"Me too," I signed.
"I could use to this," Jasper signed.
"Use to what," I signed confused.
"Every weekend when we come home. We sit around after everyone has gone to bed and we talk," he signed.
"Sounds good to me," I signed.
I got up and turned the bright light off and turn on a lamp. It was not that it wasn't so bright but then again the lamp wasn't to soft of lighting.
"Do you not have friends at school," Jasper asked signing.
"Nope," I signed, "I know you do!"
"I am really sorry about the other day," he signed.
"You're fine! I know you wanted to sit with your friends," I signed.
"Okay. What did you see tonight in your flashbacks," he signed curiously.
"I was lying on the ground. Everything was really foggy. I faintly heard Jake and Sam laughing. I could not make out if they were saying anything," I signed, "I felt a lot of sharp hits to my head. It was weird. It was like I could feel them as they happened."
"After the flashbacks, do you still want to know what happened when I arrived,' he asked signing.
"If you do not mind," I signed.
"When I arrived I could not believe what was happening. I called 911 and just left it ringing. I knew they would come. I ran over to Jake and Sam and tried to push the away from you. It was hard but I didn't give up," he signed as he stared at the wall behind me, "I did my best! I really did. I threw some punches at Sam; he was the one who was really hurting you,"
By now Jasper had tears coming down his face. I felt bad at how sad he was. I almost wanted him to stop so he would stop crying. It was making me cry.
"Jasper if you don't want to continue, you do not have to," I signed.
"No, you want to know," he signed.
"Not if it causes you thus much pain," I signed.
"I just wish I could have done more to prevent your deafness," he signed.
"Jasper, I let this happened! I knew it was going to happen. If I had not gone, it would have effected you worse," I signed crying.
"No, it wouldn't have," he signed, "Sam was fighting me while Jake was on top of you. He choking you. I ran over to Jake and plowed into him. I got on top of him and started throwing punches. I looked over at you for a split second and Jake was able to throw me off of him. By now, Charlie had shown up with back up and they were arresting Sam and Jake."
"Thank you," I signed, "you saved my life."
Jasper and I were both crying. He came up to the head board and hugged me. I wrapped my arms around him tight and laid my head on his shoulder. All the emotions I had felt all these months were finally coming out of me. I could not stop crying. I let go of his hug and tried to calm down.
I laid down on my cold pillow and took deep breathe. When I opened my eyes Jasper had brought his pillow back up to the headboard and was already asleep. I turned out the lamp and went to sleep.
