Scarlet Malone Chapter 29
Carisle's POV
Scarlet was not herself today. She would have to be really sick if she is not herself. I swabbed her throat; the test came back okay. So it wasn't streap. It turned out she had bronchitis. I went back to my office and called Edward.
Hey Edward. I said when he picked up.
Hey; you find out what she has? Edward asked.
Yes, she has bronchitis. I said.
How long is she going to be sick? Edward asked.
Well; it could be any where from a couple of days to a month. I said.
A month! That is a really long time to be sick. Edward said.
Yes, I know. I will just do my best to ge her better. I said.
Okay, thank you for calling. I will tell Jesse. Edward said.
No problem. Bye Edward.
Bye Carisle. Edward said and than I hung up.
Esme had already heard the diagnosis and was in Scarlet's room.
Do you need anything? Esme asked as I entered the room.
No mam'. Scarlet said than coughed.
I am going to give you some cough medicine and than some medicine that will help this go away. I said.
Scarlet just shook her head.
Esme sat down in the chair that was in the corner of her room.
I left the room and went to go get her medicine. I got her a little bit of water to help the medicine down.
I went to her room and gave her the medicine and the water.
Thank you Carisle. Scarlet said as her voice went out a little bit.
No problem. Just call us if you need something; but try to get some sleep. I said.
Yes sir. Scarlet said as she burried herself under more covers.
Get well and goodnight. Esme said as she kissed Scarlet on top of her head.
We left the room and I heard her breathing slow down which ment she was asleep.

Edward's POV
I got off the phone with Carisle and went to find Jesse. It was lunch time and he was sitting in his regular spot.
Hey Jesse. I said as I sat down at his table.
Hey. Jesse said.
Carisle found out what was wrong with Scarlet. I said.
That's good. What does she have? Jesse asked.
She has bronchitis. It's cangeous so you might want to stay ot of my house. I said.
Right, but when will she get better? Jesse asked.
Carisle doesn't know. He said it could be any where from a couple of days to a month. I said.
A month! Jesse said in disbelieveth.
I just nodded my head.
But she can get her better by Christmas; right? Jesse asked.
We don't know. It depends on how her body fights this sickness. I said.
Oh okay. Jesse said.
Well, I am going to go sit with Bella. I said.
Okay. Jesse said.
He was sad that he would have to spend the whole last week of school by himself. He hoped that Scarlet would get better before Christmas.
I grabbed Bella from Mike and all of them. She didn't really like sitting with them. She hated being the center of attion.
How has your day been? I asked as we sat down.
Better now that you are here. What took you so long? Bella asked.
I had to talk to Jesse about Scarlet. I said.
What's wrong with her? Bella asked surprised.
She is sick. I said.
Oh, is it bad? Bella asked.
Sort of; she has bronchitis. We don't really know how long she could be sick for. I said.
Oh wow, tell her I hope she gets betters. Bella said.
What do you think of Scarlet? I asked.
Well, she comes from a broken home like me. She doesn't handle it very well. I don't really understand why she is so short tempered and emotional all the time. Bella said.
I don't really know much about her life back home except what she told me. Her mom died just last summer so she has been really upset about that. Scarlet also thinks that No one really loves her except for Esme and Alice. I said.
Why would she think that no one loves her? Bella asked confused.
She had a really difficult time dealing with her father and our break up. Scarlet thinks that her dad doesn't want her here because he nevers ays "I love you" or " calls to check in on her. She has had it kind of ruff. I said.
When did you two first meet? Bella asked curriously.
Mr Malone knew that Carisle had kids around Scarlet age so he called Carisle and asked if we wanted to come over and have dinner. Carisle thought it was a great idea and told him to come to our house instead. Well I was sitting on my roof over my bedroom when they arrived. Alice was excited that she was getting to meet someone knew. Alice wanted Scarlet to meet me and so she dragged her up stairs. At first I didn't really want to meet her but Alice begged me and I can't
say no to her. I went back into my room and meet Scarlet. She was dressed in very gothic clothing. Alice introduced us and Scarlet acted friendly at first than she sort of stopped. We ate dinner she acted sick; she grabbed her bike out of her dad's car. She had a flat so I drove her home. She invited me inside. We got to the door and it was unlocked. I could sense that someone was there but I didn't know where. I searched her dads room while she checked her room. Someone was in there. We called the cops and he was arrested and than her and her dad spent the nght for a couple of days. I said.
Wow, so is that why she has almost her own bedroom? Bella asked.
Yeah; her dad works mostly night sifts so she spends the night with us. I said.
Oh okay. Bella said.
She sat there quitely for a moment eating.
What are you thinking? I asked.
How did Scarlet's mom die? Bella asked.
I'm not really sure. I said.
Is it true that she's a drug dealer or sales achoal? Bella asked shyly.
I laughed a little bit before I answered.
Nah, Mike made it up. It spread through the whole town. Mr Malone was sort of ticked to hear that. I said.
Why would Mike make something up like that? Bella asked.
Because no one understands what Scarlet is going through. I said.
I just don't understand why she chose to be gothic. Bella said.
She is rebeling against her father sort of. I don't think before when her mom died she was like she is now. I said.
How come you think that? Bella asked.
When we were serious; she let me pick her close out one morning. She had a huge box in the back of her closet. It had lime green, orange, and other color clothing in there. So I think when her mother died she sort of went into a depression. I said.
So she wore color clothes. I cannot picture that. Bella said.
Yes; it is sort hard to picture. Just picture her a happy teenager like us. I said.
The bell rang and it was time for class. I started walking towards the door.
You don't have any right to tell anyone about Scarlet's past. Alice thought to me.
Alice; Bella had questions. I think it would he okay. She needs to know the truth unlike everyone here. I thought.
Yes, but you should have checked with Scarlet. Alice said.
What was I going to do. Be like; hey Scarlet, I know your sick but can I tell Bella all about you? I thought to Alice.
Yeah that would probably worked. Alice thought as her and Jasper went to their class.
School went by fast. I took Bella home. I stayed with Bella till her father got home than I had to go home but I would be able to go back tonight.
I got home and went straight up stairs to my room. I looked in Scarlet's room briefly and than went to my bedroom.
Edward. I heard Scarlet say.
I went to her room to see what she needed.
Hey Scarlet. What do you need? I asked.
Nevermind. Scarlet said. She sounded aweful.
Okay, are you sure? I asked.
Scarlet just nodded her head.
