Sam's POV
I knew Mattie was having a hard time but would not admit it. I looked over to just check on her. She was about to fall to the ground but Esme caught her. Mattie had her hands over her eyes and her eyes shut. Seth and I ran over to her. But I could not do anything while I was in my wolf form. Asher came over and picked her up. I started growling. I know nothing about this boy except he is new in town and that he supposably has the same thing that Mattie has. But I kept thinking it was fake, I mean how could he control the pain and everything else that went with it.
Sam, it is okay. You can trust me. He said.
I had no choice but to trust him while Mattie was helpless.
Edward we will need a few minutes, Seth and I will be right back. I thought.
Okay, take as long as you all need. Edward said.
Thank you. I thought.
We went into the woods and morphed. I got back to Mattie as she sat there wiping her face off. Mattie slapped the ground in frustration.
It's okay Mattie, you have to learn to build up. Seth said.
Seth, I will never be able to build up! She said.
Yes you will. He said as he bent down and sat on the ground.
I'm too sensitive to vampires. She mumbled.
Look, if what Asher said was true, then he will help you. Seth said.
I looked over at Asher as he rolled his eyes.
I don't know. We need to get back, I have to try again. Mattie said.
You can do it, I know you can. Seth said.
I hope I can. She mumbled as she got back up.
I went into the woods to morph. Seth was right behind.
You are going to have to let me tell Mattie sooner or later! It is getting harder to not say something. Seth said.
After the Volturi come. I said.
No, what if one of us gets hurt or something worse. He said.
I don't know! I just don't want you get your hopes up Mattie liking you back. I said.
Than I will still be there for her, as her best friend. He said.
Just wait a little bit longer. I pleaded.
I heard Seth groan as he went off to morph.

Mattie's POV
I could not believe I was being such a wimp! I mean a Uley is not a wimp. Or at least not Sam. But I am not going to be a wimp, Asher is going to have to show me that he was not not lying.
Okay Asher, show me how you do it. I demanded.
You have to live with the Cullens to learn to control it. He said.
You have go to be kidding me! I screamed.
Look, I lived with vampires half of my life, I know what I am talking about! He said.
So there is not an easy way to make this work? I asked desperate.
Nope, not at all. Be around them much as possible, then once you learn to control that start out by holding a hand little by little work your way up. He said.
I sigh in frustration.
I know it is frustrating but you just have to keep at it. The pain at times will be unbearable but in will eventually be worth it. Asher said.
Okay, thanks I guess. I said.
There would be know way on earth that Sam would let me stay with the Cullens. There was no way I could even do this, I mean the pain is going to be very intense. I was sort of dreading this but if this is what it is going take for me to be able to fight, than I want to do this.
