“Let me see that… *opens the envelope* Woah! Could it be? It is!” Annie was surprised at what she saw, the others where astonished, and confused. Annie noticed the looks on their faces and explained: “It is Ha- I mean, it is Marlene! We used to use this in the old days. I don’t remember much of it, but I bet I still have my copy of this alphabet at home.” “Then let’s go to your house and decode this message!” Elmy declared.

Books can be heard falling and the cushions in the living room are on the floor. Carpets flipped over and the books and CDs are also on the floor… the whole room’s a mess!
“Halley! Annie!” Lizzie shouted, “Mom and Dad’s going to be mad if they see our home like this!” “Quiet Lizzie!” Annie snapped. ‘Halley’ went towards Lizzie saying, “Lizzie, our dear sister here is looking for her lost notebook. So let’s go play in our room.” Filled with suspicion, Lizzie narrowed her eyes and stroked her chin, “Who are you and what have you done with Halley?” she turned to Annie, “Have you switched brains with Halley or something? Halley used to be the-” “Come on Lizzie! Let’s play in my laptop. I hear there’s anew game in y8!” ‘Halley’ dragged Lizzie upstairs and the rest continued in their search.

The penguins were inside the HQ, watching TV. Something seems to be bugging Kowalski. He’s been observing Skipper since he (Skipper) got ‘amnesia’. The snail mail episode aroused his suspicion that he might not be the real Skipper. ‘Imaginary friend? Skipper isn’t likely to have one. Except when he lost his memory back when Dr. Blowhole zapped him with the Mind Jacker. Is it possible for one to lose his/her memory without any (legit) reason at all? There HAS to be something… Think Kowalski, THINK!!!’ “Is there something wrong, Kowalski?”
“Huh?” Kowalski snapped back to reality. “Is there anything wrong?” Skipper asked again. “Nothing’s wrong, Skipper. Can we speak inside the lab?” Kowalski replied. “Sure,” said ‘Skipper’. “So what were you going to ask me Kowalski? Give me ten words.” “I uh-“ “What, not enough? Okay, give me fifteen.” “I-” “Twenty..” “Skipper,” “Twenty-one. Take it or-” “If you would just listen Skipper!!” Kowalski snapped. “Alright, I’ll listen.” ‘Skipper stepped back. “So what’s the problem?” “Well, I’ve been observing you for the past few weeks, Skipper. As a doctor should. Do you recall anything that might have been the cause of your amnesia?”

The search seemed to be futile, hopeless. Looks like the notebook doesn’t want to turn up. The notebook containing the decoder of the letter cannot be seen. When all hope seemed lost, Elmy stood up with something in her hand, “Is this it Annie?” She held the thing up. It looked old and dusty, like those of ancient spell books in fairytales. This notebook was small, but not really worn out like the forementioned books.
Annie looked at the last page. A smirk on her face confirmed that it was it, the search was over. “Bingo!” Elmy declared. Skipper (in James’ body) breathed a sigh of relief, “Finally!” and so did the others. “Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s trasnlate!” said Joshua. “Not until the whole living room is cleaned…” said a voice. All of them froze. The voice was familiar to them (except for Elmy). “Hi Uncle Arty and Aunt Holly…” said Micah meekly.
“What are you kids up to?” asked Mr. Constence. “Mom! Dad! We were just, uh… looking for this.” Annie held up the notebook. She went beside Elmy and said, “Mom, Dad, meet Elmy. She’s a friend of ours. She’s a sophomore.” Mrs. Constence smiled, “Well aren’t you such a dear! How are you?” “Nice to meet you, Mr. and Mrs. Constence. I’m good, thanks for asking.” “Why, just call us Uncle Arty and Aunt Holly, dear. And you’re welcome in our home as much as your friends are.”
“Now explain yourself, young lady.” Said Mr. Constence . “Well, our teacher told us to… you know, research on stuff.” Annieexplained. “It was reeeeally hard to find so…” “Alright, alright. How about you clean the room and I’ll make snacks.” Said Mrs. Constence, “Where’s Halley and Lizzie by the way?” “They’re upstairs, mom.” They went to clean the living room and had snacks after.

‘Uh-oh…’ James thought, ‘What do I do now? Halley, I need you!!’ “Anything at all, Skipper?” Kowalski asked again. “Well, I do remember having a nightmare and falling out of the bunk,” James (in Skipper’s body) replied, “Then I wandered off to Hal- Marlene’s place.” ‘That was eccentric,’ Kowalski thoguht, ‘Skipper faltered when he mentioned Marlene…’ “Anything else Skipper?” Kowalski asked again. ‘Skipper’ shook his head, “That’s about it, I guess.” “Skipper, do you- um, have certain feelings for… Marlene?” Kowalski asked. ‘WHAT?!’ James thought, dumbfounded by Kowalski’s query . “Who, Hal- Marlene?”suspicious, he asked Kowalski, “What does that have to do with ‘my’ memory loss?”
‘He did it again,’ Kowalski thought. But instead, he replied “We found you in Marlene’s habitat when we found out about your loss of memory. I- it’s just a thought. You had amnesia and you found yourself in Marlene’s habitat, and I- I just figured that you have some- sort of feelings for Marlene.” “And how is that connected to me having ‘feelings’ for Marlene?” ‘Skipper’ asked. “Well, instead of waking us, you found yourself wandering about in the otter habitat.” Kowalski answered. “Well maybe I was empty-headed back then and I didn’t notice you three and I made it inside Marlene’s cave!” Skipper snapped, and took a deep breath, “I’ll be on the topside and get some fresh air.” And so he did.
Kowalski followed Skipper on the platform, “Skipper! I’ve got to ask you something!” “What is it Kowalski? Make it fast.” Said the grumpy ‘Skipper’. “Where’s Halley?” “She’s in the otter habitat, she’s practicing another language.” Replied ‘Skipper’, thinking that Kowalski’s still buying the ‘imaginary friend’ thing. Realizing what he’s done, James (in Skipper’s body) dashed after Kowalski as Kowalski headed off to the otter habitat. There he found ‘Marlene’, Private and Rico.
‘Marlene’ was translating whatever Private and Rico were saying into a foreign language, and in an accent also somewhat foreign. Kowalski noticed the language, and luckily, he knows a few words himself.
“Kamusta, mga kaibigan. Halley, maaari ba akong pumasok?”

And, this is it. The fifth chapter. I blame myself for causing this hiatus. Curse you, writer’s block!
As for the translation of what Kowalski said: “Hello friends. Halley, may I come in?”
I know it sounds a bit formal, but I prefer this one than the colloquial one. And I don’t trust google translate since it’s messing up some words at times.
So for now, paalam! (goodbye!)
