“Hyukkie!”
Little Eunhyuk turned around and saw his best friend hopping happily towards him. He smiled at Little Donghae who smiled at him first. When Little Donghae reached him, the latter hugged him so tight. He pouted and pulled himself out.
“Hae-hae, what is it this time?” Little Eunhyuk asked while looking at his best friend's eyes.
Little Donghae is always like that. If he wants something from you, particularly from Little Eunhyuk, he will give you a tight hug that you can't even breathe. Little Eunhyuk is used to it already. Little Donghae would always want something from him. But he has no choice but to give the other one what he wants. He is just loving a friend after all. He loves Little Donghae like his brother and he can't afford seeing the other one crying or feeling sad because of him.
“Neh, Hyukkie~ Can I ask you something?” Little Donghae said and gave Little Eunhyuk a warm smile.
Little Eunhyuk shrugged. “Sure. What is it?”
“Uhm, can I...can I...”
Little Eunhyuk looked at his best friend and tapped the latter's shoulder.
“Hae-Hae, are you okay?”
“Hyukkie, I can't ask you. You'll get mad at me!!”
His forehead crinkled and he smiled. “I won't get mad at you. I promise. Now ask me that,” he said assuringly. Once again, Little Donghae bit his lip and stared at Little Eunhyuk's eyes cutely.
“Promise?”
Little Eunhyuk nodded. “Promise.”
“Hyukkie, can we date?”

Little Eunhyuk stared at his reflection on the mirror while biting his lip really hard. It was Sunday and he's going out on a date; on a date with his best friend, Little Donghae. He was surprised when the latter asked him if they could go out. And he was so shocked when he suddenly answered 'YES!' Well, it was really okay for him if they go out. But on a date?! He doesn't think so. He knows a date is for lovers only. Or maybe couples. Like his umma and appa. But he and Little Donghae are just a mere acquaintance. They are just best friends. But why did Little Donghae asked him that? Uh, that fishy sure is a weirdo.
“Aissh~ Why am I doing this? Why would a 10 year old kid go out on a date with his..best friend?” he asked himself.
The door suddenly opened and Sora, his noona, went inside with a smile plastered on her face.
“Noona~” he called his sister.
“Hi baby Hyukkie. You're going out on a date?” she asked her brother.
Little Eunhyuk nodded. “Did umma tell you?”
“Nope, I have ears.”
He pouted and grabbed his noona's dress.
“Neh, noona...”
“What is it, Hyukkie?”
“Is...Is my attire okay?” he asked and stared at his sister's eyes. Sora-noona giggled and pinched his little brother's cheeks.
“Whatever clothes you wear, you still look cute, Hyukkie. So don't bother asking it, okay? And besides, I know Donghae wouldn't care because for him, you're perfect.”
He smiled. “Thanks, noona! I love you!” he said and hugged her noona. That's the time when their mother came and smiled widely.
“Hyuk, Donghae's here. You better go downstairs now...”
Little Eunhyuk gulped and hesitantly smiled. “Yes, umma~”

“Hyukkie, can we date?”
Little Eunhyuk's eyes grew bigger after he heard Little Donghae's question. What?! A date?! What did he mean by it? They are best friends, not lovers! Well, maybe it's a friendly date after all. Yeah, a friendly date. He gulped and nodded.
“Yes.”
He blushed when Little Donghae grabbed his arm and pulled him into a hug.
“Hyukkie...thank you thank you~”
“Hae, come on. It's okay. It's just a friendly date, right?”
His best friend let go and stared at his eyes. “F-Friendly date?”
“Yeah, a friendly date. A date where you and your friend will date.”
“B-But, Hyukkie, this is-”
“We should go home now, okay? My mom wants me to go home early. Let's go!”
And Little Eunhyuk held Little Donghae's hand. They both walked together towards the bus stop.

“Hae...”
Little Eunhyuk's heart skipped a beat when he saw Little Donghae standing up behind the couch. The other one was wearing a sapphire blue shirt with white shorts. The latter's hair was perfectly combed and he really looked neat. Little Eunhyuk stopped walking and tried to check up on his clothes too. He was just wearing a white shirt, matched up with black pants. He gulped and looked at his best friend again with a hesitant look.
“Hae-Hae, I should go back inside my room to change my clothes. I look bad,” he said and turned around. But before he could walk away, Little Donghae grabbed his hand.
“Y-Yes, Hae?” he called out with a nervous look.
“Don't bother. You look perfectly fine to me,” the latter answered and smiled at him genuinely. He smiled back.
“O-Okay...”
“Shall we go?”
Little Eunhyuk glanced at his right hand which Little Donghae was holding.
“S-Sure~”
Little Eunhyuk's mother came out from the kitchen and smiled at them both.
“Donghae, take care of my son, okay?”
Little Donghae nodded.
“Don't worry, second umma. He's my jewel...”

“So, Hyukkie, what do you want to eat?” Little Donghae asked him and glanced everywhere where he could find a nice place.
“Hae-Hae, aren't we too young to do this?” he asked back.
Little Donghae looked at him. “What do you mean?”
“I am only ten and you're ten also. But why are we doing this?”
“Hyukkie, we're dating, right?”
“But Hae! Dating is for lovers only. Are we lovers? We're just best friends, right?”
Little Donghae looked at him with a sad look. He slightly gulped.
“I know we're just best friends, Hyukkie. I am just your best friend. I just wanted to spend time with you more. I just wanted to..to be with you...”
“But Hae, we always hang out in school.”
“Hyukkie, school is not for fun. We go there to study and to concentrate with our grades.”
“But you can always be with me there.”
“Yeah, right. With Siwon, Sungmin, and the others. I want to be alone with you!”
“Hae...”
“Hyukkie, why are you like this? Why aren't you happy being with me just for this?”
“Hae..”
Little Donghae started to cry. “Hyukkie, don't you get it? I am only ten but it doesn't mean my feelings for you are just for children. Or for foolishness.”
Little Eunhyuk stared at his best friend's face. Now he's curious. What did Little Donghae mean by feelings?
“W-What do you...mean?”
“Hyukkie! I don't see you as my friend. I love you, I love you. Don't you get it?” his best friend answered and held his shoulders tightly. The latter shook him.
“Hae...”
“Why can't you get it, Hyukkie? Why can't you?” Little Donghae asked him continuously without looking at him.
“You're just my best friend after all...Or maybe not..” Little Donghae said and turned away from him.

It has been a week since that incident happened. Little Eunhyuk and Little Donghae don't talk anymore and every time their paths will cross, they will see each other like strangers. Well, actually, Little Eunhyuk wants his best friend back so badly. Best friend? Ani. He sees Little Donghae now as he's love. He loves Little Donghae and he was so stupid to let the other one go. He should haven't said those cruel words to him. Now he's just hurting himself by seeing Little Donghae with someone new. Not him.
“Hyukjae! Aren't you Donghae's best friend now?” Little Sungmin asked cutely to him while they were both inside the gym.
He shook his head. “I think so.”
“Aw, why?! What happened?”
He but his lip before answering. “I let him go.”
“Aw, that's sad. But why did you let go of him?” Sungmin asked again. He lied on the floor and stared at Sungmin.
“Because I have fallen in love.”

“Hyuk!”
Little Eunhyuk turned around and he saw Siwon running towards him with a pale face.
“S-Siwonnie, why?” he nervously asked. He got a bad feeling about it.
“D-Donghae! Donghae...”
He faced Siwon and shook his shoulders. “What happened to him? What happened to Hae?!!”

He ran as fast as he could. He needed to go to the infirmary immediately. Little Donghae had an accident while playing basketball. Little Siwon told him that Little Donghae slipped by his right foot and his head was hurt because of that. His heartbeat was so fast after hearing that and ran away with haste.
He gulped when he finally reached the infirmary. He breathed out first before he invited himself in. He opened the door and saw the nurse sitting down.
“Nurse...” he called her.
The nurse looked at him and smiled. “What can I do for you?”
“W-Where's Lee Donghae?”
“Ow, you mean the guy who was injured earlier?”
He nodded. The nurse told him that Donghae was just lying down on the bed. He thanked the kind nurse and walked towards the bed. The curtain was covering his best friend. He went inside and saw Little Donghae. The other one's head was wrapped with a bandage. He could see a spot of blood on it. He was teary-eyed already. He saw Little Donghae's face again; the calm one. The latter's eyes were closed. He felt like crying. He wanted Little Donghae so bad. He badly needed him. And he was an idiot to let go of his one and only love. If he just realized it earlier enough, this wouldn't happen to them. MAYBE they were happier than before.
He was unaware that Little Donghae was opening his eyes and his best friend could see him. Little Eunhyuk was crying while his hands were covering his face.
“H-Hyukkie...”
Little Eunhyuk stopped crying and saw his best friend looking at him. He blushed and bit his lip. He felt ashamed. He shouldn't have visited Little Donghae. But he was just loving the other one so much and he couldn't afford of not seeing him.
“H-Hae...”
“What are you doing here?”
“I..I have heard of what happened to you..I just came here to visit..”
Little Donghae got up. “Oh.”
“A-Are you okay now?”
Little Donghae nodded. He was bowing down his head.
Crap, this is such a shame..Little Eunhyuk thought.
“I guess..I ..I should be leaving now..” He turned away but Little Donghae spoke.
“Don't you miss me, Hyukkie?”
He stopped right down from the track. What did Donghae just ask? If he missed him? Of course he does! Every time! But he didn't answer. He was just biting his lip and he was closing his eyes.
“Hyukkie...”
Hearing Little Donghae's voice kept him nervous. It was so lovable and he couldn't even see his best friend's face. He was afraid that maybe, just maybe, Little Donghae would sweep him away. Away from him.
Little Eunhyuk gasped when he felt someone hugged him tightly from the back. It was Little Donghae! It was him.
“H-Hae...”
“Why are you doing this to me? Why are you making me fall for you even more without even doing anything?” the other one whispered on his nape. He shivered with the contact.
“Hae...”
“I still love you, Hyukkie. I still love you so much. So much that it hurts..”
He pulled himself out from the hug and faced his best friend. He smiled lovingly at Little Donghae and cupped the latter's face.
“Hae, I love you too. You don't have to be sad now, okay?” he answered softly and stared at Little Donghae's eyes with love.
“H-Hyukkie...”
He was sure his best friend was so shocked about his answer. He slightly chuckled.
“You don't believe me?” he asked.
Little Donghae smiled and hugged him so tightly.
“What are you gonna ask me now, huh?”
Little Donghae softly laughed and faced him.
“Can you be my Hyukkie?”

“I was so mad at Kangin that's why I punched him so hard. But he pushed me then that was the reason why I slipped..” Little Donghae explained to him what happened earlier.
They were now walking home and they were holding their hands so tightly as if they don't want to let go.
“But Hae, it's okay. He was just..telling the truth...” he answered softly and looked down. Little Donghae stopped walking and cupped his face.
“Hyukkie, he said you're ugly. Do you think it was fine for me hearing that?”
Little Eunhyuk smiled at his best friend. “I dont think so...”
“Of course, you're cute! No, you're pretty..”
“Hae! I am handsome!”
“Jewels are pretty, not handsome!”
He pouted but then his smile never left his lips.
“Hae, thank you. Because you didn't give up on me...”
His best friend, now he's kid lover, smiled and whispered on his ears,
““I fell in love with you even though I am just a kid.”
And they kissed, under the waiting shed, for the first time. And they both knew, love wouldn't leave them as long as they're fighting for it.
