Castiel, and Season six of Supernatural!

Lately, while browsing different message boards, and Castiel forums, I have found many loyal fans on Supernatural’s resident Angel. But, I have also come across not so loyal fans of the Angel of Thursday. The loyal fans want him to come back for the sixth season, as do I, but when posting that opinion the loyal fans are told that Cass may not FIT in the show after the Apocalypse is over and done with. My question to the not so loyal fans is this: What do you know, that we don't? How could you possibly know that he WOULDN'T fit?

I have read many questions on this site, asking if Castiel is not in season six, will the show work without him, and people responding say "it worked before" or "Why wouldn't it" or "it worked in previous seasons, I'd rather him go out in a blaze of glory if he can't return to 6" or my favorite conflicting responce "I'd love Cas to come back, but if the storyline doesn't work... blah blah blah."

I'm a loyal fan, and have been watching since the very first season. Yes, the show worked well for 3 seasons without him, but it was also getting Monotonous, with the same thing over and over again. With demon after demon, ghost after ghost, and so on. Adding Castiel was the best thing the creators ever did.

pizzapi i love love love castiel and i want him to be in season six. but the writers, over the course of the show, have done a lot of things i haven't seen coming, or didn't think would work, and made it work well. i think they could make it work both with or without cas. but i hope it's with :)

fanfly Well, I'm not a huge fan of Castiel. He's amusing and serves a purpose in the Apocalypse story arc. And that's why people are unsure that he'll fit into season 6...because I think everyone is assuming that the Apocalypse story is going to be wrapped up this season. If that story's done with, what direction do they take Castiel? What purpose does he serve? What's his story? If they can come up with something interesting, I wouldn't mind him being in season 6. But he's not essential IMO. I can imagine all kinds of developments in the show that would keep it fresh without Castiel. Supernatural is not known for keeping characters around that don't serve a purpose just because the fans like them. A lot of characters that I love and wish could have stayed in the show have been killed off. But their deaths were part of the story and in the end the story is more important to me.

Dean-girlx What fanfly said. if all the Angels go back to heaven and aren't heard from again, why would Cas stay? in my opinion that would be .. a mistake. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens :)

Irishsoul12 If the angels go back to heaven that's fine. But Cass isn't allowed back IN heaven. So what would happen then? As Dean-girlx said, wait and see what happens.

Meghan86 I have been a loyal fan of Castiel since Season four debuted. As Irishsoul12 said “if the angels go back to heaven, fine, but Cass isn’t allowed back in heaven.” People seem to forget that, I’m not saying anyone here, just people in general. So the way they should continue his stay on the show is to write him in as a sidekick or something where he’d still be useful. I think if they kill him off at the end of this season, would be really disappointing, and kind of a let down on many levels. Cass has to stay. He’s part of Supernatural’s legacy now, and to kill him off, or just write him completely out of the story would be a mistake. Even if you're personally not a Castiel fan, you even have to admit it would be a mistake.

El_Citrus As much as I love Cas, he's the Winchestor's best weapon against the apocolypse, and when that story arc is through, so will Cas' usefulness. They could work that into Season 6, having Cas grapple with not having a purpose anymore and giving Jimmy his life back, but if the writers intend to just make him a sidekick and comic relief, I'd rather he go out in a blaze of glory to help stop Lucifer/Michael once and for all.
