Once I said my goodbyes to everyone, we were out the door and on the highway. I drove for a three hours untill, I got really sleppy and Emmett took over. I layed down in the back seat and covered up with my blanket that I had packed with my pillow. I took those two things on every trip. When I woke up the sun was rising and we were Emmett was still driving.
How ya hold up? I asked laughing to myself.
Samantha, I don't get tired. You know that. He said.
I know I felt like laughing. I told them. Where are we? I asked.
California. Rose said.
Are we near some waves? I asked.
No, we are in the middle of Californa Samantha. Rose said while laughing.
Okay, I'm hungry and no Emmett I know you arent hungry, well for human food no but blood that's a different story. I said.
What's with all the jokes this mroning, Samantha? Emmett asked.
I'm trying to make myself laugh. I said.
Oh. He said.
It's not working! I'm lame. I said.
I sat up and looked in the rearview mirro.
Oh my word. I said.
Emmett turned around scared that something wrong.
What's wrong. He said.
My hair! It's in a knot!!! I exclaimed.
No worries, Samantha. Rose said.
Starting combing your hair gently and it will come out. She said.
It took me an hour to fix my hair and that was even with the help of Rose. I ended up just pulling my hair into a ponytail. I put on my sunglasses and we opened the windows and the sunroof. It was so warm outside. I missed the warm weather.
When can I drive? I asked.
Later. Emmett replied.
Okay. I said.
A few mintues later I ask the same question and Emmett replied, when we get to a gas station we will switch.
Yay! I said.
We were almost on empyt so it would be pretty soon. When Emmet started filling my Range Rover with gas I got in the front seat and adjusted it to height and to where I could see out of all of the mirrows. I only got to drive three hours until Emmett started nagging at my speed. I told him that he could drive the rest of the way!
It took us only 24 more hours to get to Florida. When we did arrive in Coconut Grove ( my home town) we went to the hotel. I didn't feel like seeing my parents tonight sinse it was almost midnight. We went to our room and believe it or not I went straight to bed even though I had slept the whole way in the car. I woke up to a cloudy morning. I was excited that I was going to see parents and Oakley but then I thought about my beach and Matt. Oh, how I had missed Matt so much. I jumped out of my bed and then I changed into my bathingsuit and then I put on some bluejean shorts with my rashguard. I grabbed my board out of the car whisk I left the room. Emmett and Rosalie had left earlier that morning before the sun had risen. I walked to the beach to see Matt first and then I decided I would go surfing. I went to the main lifeguard tower first. Mr. Don was in his office so I went to go see him first.
Mr. Don? I asked as I knocked on his door.
Come in. He said.
Hey Mr. Don, how are you? I asked.
He looked up from his paperwork with a huge smile on his face.
Samantha! He exclaimed.
Hey. I said yet again.
Don't just stand there come give me a hug. He told me.
We sat down and talked for a little bit and then I asked if Matt was around and Mr. Don told me he was at his regular lifeguard tower. I told Mr. Don that I would see him later and then headed out to see Matt. I got to his tower and yelled Matt.
Samantha? He asked and leaped down from his tower.
Hey. I said trying to hold back tears.
I was so happy that I was starting to cry.
Samantha, what's wrong. He said givig me a hug but pushing me back so he could see my face.
Nothing, I'm happy to see you. I said.
I missed you so much. How have you been? He asked.
Okay, I guess. I've been having a hard time. I told him.
Tell me what have you been doing? He said.
School and I went surfing once. That's pretty much it. I said.
I decided that I would leave the whole borken ribs out of the conversation. Although I had been in Forks for two months nothing had happen.
