Chapter 7: The Flower.
"Lord Sesshomaru, you have come." Rin's eyes glinted at her Lord as he appeared slowly but steadily from the darkness of the path moving toward her.
"Rin." As frugal as ever with his emotion and word, he replied to the young wide eyed child now in front of him barely passing the height of his waist.
Usually, that would be about the extent of their conversation before Rin handed him a beautiful flower of her choosing. He would take the flower and, with no word of gratitude, stared at it. When the gang was around, they would whisper softly among themselves, mostly wondering what in the world was so special about the darn flower that could captivate the young daiyoukai's attention so wholly and completely. It was beyond their comprehension.
The daiyoukai obviously has not fully realized the meaning of whatever he pondered upon when he stared at the flower, because he still hasn't failed to stare at the myriads of flowers Rin had offered him. Rin usually knew that this action of his would take a while. So she just ran off somewhere giggling as she went. Such was the usual visit.
And this night, the event took place exactly the same to the point where he started to stare at the flower. Rin has already started to run off waving good bye, or good night, or good luck, or good riddance, or good whatever her giggling meant when she heard his deep soothing voice.
"Rin," He called her, "Come with me."
Rin turned around, shocked expression took over her face, but only briefly before her face lit up with happiness.
"Yes, My Lord." The child immediately followed the tall graceful figure who has already started to walk away from her into the dark path from which he came.
They did not travel far until they reached a meadow nearby the village. The night, dark and moonless, has not bothered to gather even the wind.
He stopped at the root of a tree and sat down with his back against its trunk. He rested his left leg straight on the ground and bent the other so to bring his knee closer to him. He rested one arm on the knee, raised the flower he has been holding up, and started to stare at it.
Rin kneeled down at a close distance before him with her hands of both knees. She stooped down with her head slightly tilted upward. She, in turn, stared at him with her big brown inquisitive eyes with wondering curiosity .
The night was dark indeed, but she can still see the depth of his golden amber eye, lost in some chaotic secret of his own world far beyond her reach.
