Chapter 9: Kagome Disappeared

Sesshomaru and the young girl reached the village and came to the residence of interest. Sango, two kids in arms, saw Rin and ran out to her, only to stop midway as soon as the image of the daiyoukai appeared before her.

"Lord Sesshomaru." She addressed him respectfully, never forgetting that he had spared her life for some unknown reason. He never explained, and she never dared ask.

He, too, stopped in his track. He moved his eyes to observe the surrounding and turned his face back on Sango with narrowed eyes.

"Oh, Lady Sango, Lord Sesshomaru came to visit." Rin ran up to her with reaching arms to offer help with the kids, which Sango gladly accepted.

"Where is Inuyasha?" He asked calmly with the silky smooth voice as always despite his assessment of the peculiarity at present.

Sango looked confused, " Lord Sesshomaru, Kagome is no where to be found. Inuyasha, Miroku and Shippo are out looking for her." There was a moderate level of panic in her voice.

"I see." There was no level of panic in his voice.

He levitated his body while a thin cluster of cloud started to condense under his feet. At the completion of the cloud, he zipped away at a zipping speed with the mokomoko rippling in the air behind him.....beautifully.

Rin didn't even have a chance to say goodbye. Usually she would scream after him, " Goodbye Lord Sesshomaru." But this time she stayed quiet for the reason of not wanting to startle the kid in her arms.

He landed on the familiar shore on the island holding the Spirit Mountain with the fragrance of flower just as strong. He was not surprised to see Inuyasha and his gang there. At a distance from them, Kagome walked into the mountain slowly, minding nothing of her surrounding as if she was possessed.

"Kagome," Inuyasha started toward her screaming with his usual screaming manner.

"Lord Sesshomaru," Miroku turned around to face the newcomer. He addressed him with no less respect than how Sango did before. He, too, knew the story between Sango and Sesshomaru as well.

Sesshomaru started to walk toward the direction of Kagome and Inuyasha. He must have spent all of his energy zipping through the air earlier, for he was walking with his I-got-all-the-time-in-the-world stride at the present moment.

All that while Sesshomaru sensed no need to reply to Miroku or even looked his way. Nobody bothered to take offense anymore in the daiyoukai's arrogant aloofness. That was just how the young demon lord has always acted. And nobody dared to do anything else but let it be so.

"Kagome." A second scream ripped through the air commanding everyone's attention except for the one it was meant to grab.

Chapter 10: Kagome and Inuyasha, and Sesshomaru, Into the Pink Mountain

Kagome paid no heed. She continued to walk. As she neared the barrier previously experienced by Sesshomaru, he stopped his stride and winced his eyes waiting to see what will become. As if she felt a presence of an impediment, she reached out her hand and pushed against something nobody there can see. A portal with sufficient space opened up allowing her to enter. Inuyasha followed successfully. Sesshomaru seized the opportunity. With a swoosh, he dashed right through the portal just right before it shut.

Everything happened so quickly, everyone else there just started to realize what happened way after it had.

Inuyasha didn't even know why his brother was there. His attention was elsewhere to even care to ask his usual question "What are you doing here, Sesshomaru." He ran toward the slow walking Kagome. He touched her shoulder pulling her back, or tried to anyway. She pushed her arm at him. Her hand jolted a pink light ray toward his body. It threw him into a projectile motion knocking him down some distance backward.

"What." Inuyasha protested. He sat there for a moment like he was in a daze, either confused, or shocked, or just both.

Kagome kept walking. Sesshomaru steadily followed, keeping the same distance and acceleration. The daiyoukai passed his brother still sitting on the ground. His brows furrowed slightly. He glanced at his brother without turning his head. He generated a whip from his finger and lashed out at Inuyasha which elicited a response.

"Ouch! Sesshomaru, what you do that for?" Inuyasha got up. He charged toward the daiyoukai planning on an retaliation against the treatment just bestowed upon him.

"Inuyasha, keep moving. The fragrance of these flowers is a dream potion. Its power is hypnotic." Sesshomaru responded with a voice as smooth as the hypnotizing fragrance he was describing.

"Hah?" Inuyasha stopped as his brother's description ended.

Inuyasha's eyes widened to almost become as big as his face. He forgot completely about the attack he has planned previously. He looked around at the myriad of different flowers all around them. There were flowers he has never seen before and never dreamed that such strangely beautiful forms existed. They indeed had a mesmerizing effect.

"I said keep moving." Sesshomaru, now farther away, commanded with a louder voice and less patience.

"Hah?.. Yeah... Right." Inuyasha followed.

Finally, the small path amid a large field of petals revealed the entrance to the mountain. All three entered with the exact pace they came with.

The mountain unexpectedly bore an even brighter pink aura inside. They passed through a short labyrinth of the usual mountain landscape to reach a cavern where they finally discovered its secret.

Kagome stood before the enchanting spectacle unimpressed. Sesshomaru inspected it pensively unblinking and speechless. Inuyasha was the only one who spoke, though no less awed than Sesshomaru.

"What in the world is this thing?" He inquired as though he expected an answer from any of those two, might as well be, walking statues accompanying him. Where is Miroku when you need him. He would at least attempt at an explanation.

Chapter 11: The Spiritual Light of The Miko

"That is the spiritual light of a miko. Of all people, you alone should be so keen to have recognized it by now, Inuyasha." Sesshomaru shocked Inuyasha when he produced that reply.

Though, that reply might as well not be. It didn't help explain anything to him.

Normally, the younger brother would have retorted with something like - I am tired of you and your riddling, double talking, sword robbing, smart mouthing and sorry excuse of a dog - or somewhere along those lines. But he figured right then was not the moment. He didn't care to ask for further explanation however.

Inuyasha knew. He knew instantly as his brother commented that he should be keen to know it by now. After all, he has only been in love with two of them. What he meant was the presentation which he found himself staring at.

It looked like a flower, a giant flower with petals that equaled the length of Sesshomaru and Inuyasha combined. There was not a stem or a leaf. Its petals are long thin cylindrical projections which twisted around themselves, forming long curly tendrils. They joined together from the ground and shot upward at every angle that they can find space to. The petals swayed back and forth softly and slowly like water plants flowing with the water current.

In the air, there was no wind. The object must have moved on its own accord.

A beautiful female figure hid in the middle of those petals, exposing only the upper part of her body from the neck up. She stood in silence with her eyes closed as if she was in a deep eternal sleep. Her long hair also swayed back and forth in the same direction and pace with the petals. Her hands joined together in a praying position against the middle of her chest, supporting a delicate stem with a much more earthly version of a chrysanthemum. Its slender petals continuously detached from the stem and floated upward gently to escape from the small portal at the mountain top as new petals regenerated as replacements. Those levitating petals were inevitably the source of the pink aura surrounding the landscape.

Everything from the female figure to the flower was not of materialized matter. They were just a mere holographic manifestation of light. Pure brilliant pink light and its illumination filled the cavern with an unknown warmth and a sense of peace.

Peace even to the not-so-easily-impressed, cold-hearted such as Sesshomaru, the daiyoukai stared. He liked finesse and perfection. And this beauty was finessly perfect to the point of speechless.

Chapter 12: Possession.

Still seemed to be possessed, Kagome rose up in the air as if pulled by an invisible force. She finally reached the height facing straight at the face of the female figure in the flower.

"Kagome." Inuyasha shouted as he jumped up to where Kagome was standing in the air.

He raised the Tessaiga already transformed and struck ferociously releasing blades of the Cutting Meido at the female.

Sesshomaru sprinted into the air between the Meido blades and their prey. He quickly flung the Bakusaiga releasing the Dragon Strike in an attempt to stop Inuyasha's attack.

The brothers jumped at each other, and swords clashed.

"Why must you always insist on charging in blindly, Inuyasha." Sesshomaru scolded the younger brother with light irritation.

"Out of my way, Sesshomaru." Inuyasha retorted.

Everything deflected everywhere. They temporarily stopped the quarrel. Each zizzaged their own way from one wall to another to escape their own attacks. Sesshomaru landed on a rocky protrusion and resumed his staring obsession.

Inuyasha rushed to Kagome's side. He swung his sword right to left, up to down, out and about to thwart all the Cutting Meido Blades flying her way making sure that she would still be in one piece.

"Arggg!" Inuyasha growled thinking he could kill Sesshomaru for this.

He landed on the ground when all the blades and energy rays subsided. No hesitation, Inuyasha quickly jumped back in the air. He released a full circular Meido at the pink image intending to send every last bit of it to the underworld.

Too late, the female had leaped out of position drawing the entire trail of pink light with her. She merged swiftly into Kagome's body with a lighting momentum that pushed the latter backward into the cavern wall. Kagome let out a painful scream and fell down to the ground with a thud.

Half of the mountain was eaten away by the Meido leaving just one wall intact. The mountain, the pink flower, the female figure and the pink aura surrounding all of those were no more. Not bad for a day of work...the destructive kind.

Kagome stood up. Her facial expression and the vitality in her eyes sparkled again.
Inuyasha turned to her, his eyes widened, his pupils dilated, unblinking. He let out a soft relieved sound of her name, "Kagome."

Chapter 13: Unknown Enemy

Kagome turned to look at Inuyasha, then averted her eyes to Sesshomaru. The brothers both returned her attentive gaze with their own. From different corners, the three engaged in a staring contest until, surprisingly, Sesshomaru broke the silence.

"Just what sort of creature are you?"

"SILENCE....Vermin." Kagome spoke with an powerful, yet mellifluous voice as she shot a deadly glare at the Sesshomaru. "The filth of your kind must be annihilated."

She did not wait for a response from anyone. Her hair started to fly away from her body violently as if she just created a source of wind from within her own. She made a circular movement with her arms, drew her elbow close to her body, then quickly pushed her arms outward at Sesshomaru's direction. Hundreds of petals suddenly detached from the flowers surrounding the mountains. They transformed into miniature pink arrows, darted through the air making a stream of soft rustling sounds as they split the wind charging at Sesshomaru, full speed.

Dashing quickly back at a safe distance, Sesshomaru struck his sword releasing giant tsunami-like waves deflecting all the arrows with his counterattack.

Kagome quickly discharged another wall of arrows at him. Inuyasha released a full Meido into the wall of arrows absorbing them completely.

"Arggg." The familiar growl by Inuyasha was heard.

From behind the Meido, Sesshomaru leaped forward and dash right to Kagome. He reached out his hand closing it around Kagome's neck. Kagome did not even bother to move.

As Sesshomaru's hand touched her neck, a small surge of pink energy shot through his hand. It sent him into the air where he flipped a backward somersault and landed on the ground in a crouching position. His hand burned slightly as he raised it closer to inspect with a hint of pain expressed on his face.

"This Bakusaiga. Not even a scratch on her." Sesshomaru thought as he looked up at Kagome, infuriated.

He lowered his eyes to the Bakusaiga at the end of that thought. He was calculating what his next move should be when he suddenly remembered the conversation with Totosai the day the Shikon Jewel was defeated.

His eyes narrowed. Remaining in the crouching position, he silently allowed his mind to run quickly through that memory.
