All Too Well
“I walked through the door with you, the air was cold
But something about it felt like home somehow
And I left my scarf there at your sister’s house
And you still got it in your drawer, even now.”
Dally was absentmindedly wrapping and unwrapping your scarf around his hands, remembering everything about you. Every little detail.
“Oh, your sweet disposition and my wide-eyed gaze
We’re singing in the car getting lost upstate
Autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place
And I can picture it after all these days.”
When you guys needed an escape, you’d take your car and just drive. Anywhere. And wherever you ended up you ended up. He smiles, remembering you trying to remember all the words to the songs on the radio.
“And I know it’s long gone
And that magic’s not here no more
And I might be okay
But I’m not fine at all.”
He misses you so much it hurts.
“‘Cause there we are again, on that little town street
You almost ran the red ‘cause you were looking over me
Wind in my hair, I was there, I remember it all too well.”
He remembers the first time seeing you after you broke up with him. It was like a stab to his heart to see you, without him.
“Photo album on the counter, your cheeks were turning red
You used to be a little kid with glasses and a twin-size bed
Your mother’s telling stories about you on the t-ball team.”
He hated when the gang made fun of you around him. But it made you laugh and smile, so it was priceless.
“You tell me about your past, thinking your future was me.”
He thought you were the one.
“And I know it’s long gone
And there’s nothing else I could do
And I forget about you long enough
To forget why I needed to.”
He knew he’d never be with you again, but there was this part of him that needed you so badly.
‘Cause there we are again, in the middle of the night
We’re dancing around the kitchen in the refrigerator light
Down the stairs, I was there, I remember it all to well.”
The vivid memories of you after a party, dancing in the kitchen at Buck’s place. How his world was complete.
“And maybe we got lost in translation, maybe I asked for too much
But maybe this thing was a masterpiece ‘til you tore it all up
Running scared, I was there, I remember it all too well.”
Why did you even breakup? He couldn’t even remember it, because it was drowned out by missing you.
“And you call me up again just to break me like a promise
So casually cruel in the name of being honest
I’m a crumpled up piece of paper lying here
‘Cause I remember it all, all, all too well.”
“Time won’t fly, it’s like I’m paralyzed by it
I’d like to be my old self again, but I’m still trying to find it
After plaid shirt days and nights when you made me your own
Now you mail back my things and I walk home alone.”
A day feels like a week without you. He remembered you were the only girl he had sex with that was truly meaningful. He was polite and gave you all the things back you left in his room.
“But you keep my old scarf from that very first week
‘Cause it reminds you of innocence and it smells like me
You can’t get rid of it ‘cause you remember it all too well, yeah.”
He keeps wrapping and unwrapping the scarf absentmindedly around his hands.
“‘Cause there we are again, when I loved you so
Back before you lost the one real thing you’ve ever known
It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well”
He just missed you.

You looked at him then looked away. Ponyboy put him head against yours. He was about to kiss you when the bell rang. You got your stuff as pony did too. You walked out of the classroom. Pony took his hand in yours and intertwined them. You walked to the lunch room together. You ran into Two-bit at the lunch line. The tow of you would laugh as he made fun of people who walked by. You sat down to eat as your friends came over. Ruthie can over smiling. "Hi Ruth" you said as Two-bit and Pony looked at her funny. "Pony and kid this is my best friend Ruthie" you said as Ruthie smiled and waved. "Hi" she said and sat down by you. "Who are these people?" "Um this is my boyfriend Ponyboy and this is his friend. What's your name?" Two-bit looked at you and told you his name. "And Two-bit" you said. "Oh" she said. "Yeah" you said you ate lunch. When you were done you went to class. You didn't have this one with Ponyboy.
(this is all based on a dream I had. I do not own the outsiders)
I was getting ready for bed when all of a sudden I heard Soda and Darry fighting."you can't tell him! I want to wait for the right time before I tell him. If I find out you told him then you will be sorry." I heard Darry tell Soda."He deserves to know the truth and if you don't tell him soon he might find out himself!"Soda yelled. I wonder what there talking about but the only way to find out is to keep listening. The next person was Darry and he didn't sound mad or happy but confused and worried." I know I'm going to tell him in the morning so don't worry." I guess I'll have to wait till morning to find out.
