The world of Skileedna was just starting to stir. Especially the capital city of Tranneira. The golden sun slowly lowered and lowered, the roosters started to crow, and the cattle started to slowly wake up. As the crowing steadily got louder, the people started to awake.
    This was not a normal world, city, or people. This world lived during night and slept during day. The city was not the capital of humans, but vampires. There are humans, but they are for feeding purposes, only. Even the animals are different. The roosters were a translucent white and had a ghostly glow. Their crows made more of a combination of a growling and a crow call. The cattle were gray with white spots.
    The city was surrounded by an fifteen foot tall wall, with four gigantic gates, each facing one of the cardinal directions. The buildings were built gothic style. There is a large, black palace with a cathedral in the west side. The King, Shalakk, and the Queen, Jilana, were the first to wake up in the palace, other than the servants.
    Then the Princess, Alieana, awoke. She sat up in her bed and yawned. Her hands unwrinkled her black nightgown with dark purple stars. The bed had four posts that connected at the top to make a ‘roof’, which red curtains hung from. There was a vanity opposite of the bed. Alieana sat down at it and looked at herself.
    Her platinum blonde hair fell to her shoulders, straight as a line, but sprawled out as it hit her shoulders, and went another inch down. Her skin was a pale tan color. Soft blue eyes looked back at her, with a studying look. She rolled her head on her left shoulder, and her scar was visible. Tracing her index finger over it, she gulped.
    It was a bite mark. The circle was large and there were duplicates of it all over her body. Everything flowed back to her from that fateful night, forty years ago.
    A villager had needed cold water from the well, for he was dying of the deadly fever. She had volunteered to go, and her parents said only if her father would go, since she was only fourteen. They had said that Nightstalkers prowled the woods, that it was not safe, and that they targeted beautiful young women. But she, being the stubborn person she was, had refused to listen to their ‘nonsense’, but agreed for her father to go, and they started towards the well. Down the curving, dark path through the woods, they heard a rustling in the bushes. They were halfway there, and needed to make it there and back.
    “We must speed up, for we do not know what is in the bushes. Now quick, but stay close,” Her father murmured as he quickened his pace. Alieana mimicked.
    As they quickened their paces, the rustling continued. Her eyes darted back and forth. The rustling stop, she slowed down a bit. It is just an animal. A fox stalking his dinner, perhaps, she had thought. Glowing eyes appeared through the foliage, ice blue ones.
    “Wh-Who’s there?” She had whispered, her voice quivering. No one answered, only the eyes lowered, and then someone sprang up from the bushes. It was in the shape of a person.
    Her father jumped in front of her, but the thing just broke his neck as if he were breaking a twig. Her voice came out as a squeak, but she had meant it as a scream. The thing cornered her so she was up against a tree. She made the fateful mistake of turning her head so he wasn’t breathing in her face.
    It quickly whispered, “Thank-you, for doing that chore for me. Oh, and don’t worry this will only hurt-a lot,” and chuckled at his joke. Then wasting no more time for his infernal games, he sunk his teeth into her neck. She screamed at the top her lungs.
    The pain was unbearable. It felt as if someone burned her, then threw her onto a frozen lake, that its ice is paper thin, with no clothes on. Then they were sucking all the air around her away, finally just choking her with darkness, just after a bright flash of light. The ground was falling through, and she slipped into the darkness. Something had scared the person off, but no one made any effort to help her. Shapes were very vague and voices were so inaudible.
    Next thing she knew, she was on a strange new planet with strange people, animals, and customs. Now, she is sixteen, vampires age one year for every ten. She sighed as she removed her finger from her neck and got ready for the new night.
    Once fully ready, she walked down the spiral steps to the dining room. Her black heels made a click-clack noise as she descended. They were covered by black jeans that hugged her thighs, then at the knee flared out, above that was a dark maize low-cut v-shaped-neck, which had a black tank top underneath. Once she had arrived in the dining room, she smiled when her foster parents saw her. She kissed her Father on the cheek saying; “Good evening, Daddy.”
    “Good even’nin, Sweetheart,” He replied. His apparel was black dress pants and a dark blue shirt. Scratchy stubble covered his face, and his hair and stubble were a salt-and-pepper mix.
    Then walking to my mother, and she hugged her saying, “Good evening, Mom.”
    “Good eve, Honey.” She said as she smiled, one full of love. Her deep, deep auburn hair was styled so that a small amount was pinned over the rest. It was just below the shoulder length. Her dress was long and flowed out. It was a dark purple with some black flowers towards the bottom.
    Shalakk sat at the head of the table, and Jilana on his left and Alieana sat herself on the right of her Dad. The servants came through black doors that swung back and forth, with their breakfast. They ate their pancakes in peace.
