Two years ago, it was announced that one of my favorite directors, Tim Burton, would be making a show about my favorite character from The Addams Family, Wednesday. As soon as I heard about it, I was excited for it. I felt like I couldn't wait for it. Waiting for it hasn't been easy, but after two years of anticipation, the show has finally come out.

Wednesday focuses on a teenaged Wednesday Addams. She has been kicked out of various schools for her troublesome behavior. She has been sent to Nevermore Academy, the school that Wednesday's parents went to when they were her age. Nevermore Academy isn't a regular school. It has vampires, werewolves and various other kinds of unusual people. However, it doesn't take long for Wednesday to establish herself as the most eccentric student that the school has ever had. While there, she stumbles upon a murder mystery that captivates her interest.

Since I have been waiting about two years for this show, the important thing to answer is whether or not the show lives up to my expectations. Yes! Wednesday is as amazing of a show as I could ever imagine. It's not like previous versions of The Addams Family, but in this case, that's not a bad thing. In fact, the show benefits from having a unique identity. The plot and tone are darker and more dramatic, but that doesn't mean that the show isn't fun to watch. While it isn't for younger viewers, Wednesday is an absolutely wonderful show for older viewers. The plot is full of surprises and twists that I didn't see coming. I had guesses about what would happen, but the show keeps being more original than I was expecting it to be.

Tim Burton's gothic style shines through in this show. It's one of the most beautiful shows from recent years. The title character looks as wonderfully gothic and moody as ever, while the locations and other characters have their own appealing style. Tim Burton's main musical composer, Danny Elfman, gives the show incredibly pleasing, powerful and captivating music to listen to.

In addition to Tim Burton, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar worked on this show. They were the creators of Smallville, the show about a teenage Clark Kent learning about his destiny. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar did a wonderful job at making a Superman show that stood out as something different and special. Their talents continue to shine through in this show. If the show gets a second season, I would love to see the actor that played Clark Kent in Smallville, Tom Welling, show up.

Wednesday Addams is played by Jenna Ortega. Wednesday has been played by quite a few great actresses over the years, so Jenna Ortega had a strong legacy to live up to. I'm happy to report that Jenna Ortega absolutely knocks it out of the park as Wednesday. She captures the character's tone and personality in glorious fashion. Wednesday might not be a happy, friendly person, but that doesn't mean that she isn't a delight to watch. Wednesday was already my favorite character from the franchise, but this show makes my appreciation of the character continue to grow.

The Wednesday series is full of new characters. There are a lot of interesting new characters that are played by very talented performers. For me, the best of the new characters is Enid Sinclair. Enid serves as Wednesday's roommate who desperately wants to befriend Wednesday. Wednesday and Enid serve as a perfect pair of opposites. Enid's bright, happy and colorful way of acting balances out with Wednesday's gloomy, unfriendly personality. Emma Myers does an amazing job at making Enid a joy to watch whenever the character shows up. Wednesday and Enid's unusual friendship serves as one of the best aspects of the show. I desperately hope that Enid becomes a regular character in The Addams Family franchise, because even though she just got introduced, I couldn't imagine the franchise without her.

As for Wednesday's family, they aren't as prominent as they usually are in the franchise. However, the show still finds clever ways of making them important to the plot. Luis Guzmán does a very good job as Gomez Addams, while Catherine Zeta-Jones plays a charming Morticia. Fred Armisen makes the most out of his small amount of screentime as Uncle Fester. If the show gets a second season, I would love to see more of him. The actress who played Wednesday in two films from the 1990s, Christina Ricci, has a prominent role as one of the people working at the school.

Wednesday is an incredible show that is captivating from beginning to end. The title character and her classic brand of moody charm shine through in this wonderful series. How good is the show? I watched all eight episodes the day it came out. That goes to show how exciting and engaging this show really is. It's a masterpiece that has to be seen to be believed.

After the success of Superman's film franchise, Batman was given his own film franchise. Batman's original film franchise had four films. The films were 1989's Batman, 1992's Batman Returns, 1995's Batman Forever and 1997's Batman and Robin. Two of them were directed by Tim Burton and the other two were directed by Joel Schumacher. Despite how different the two directors were, their takes on Batman are meant to take place in the same universe. Batman ended up being played by three different actors throughout the quad of films, but Alfred and Commissioner Gordon were never recast.

We're no strangers to love
You know the rules and so do I
A full commitment's what I'm thinking of
You wouldn't get this from any other guy

I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand

Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

We've known each other for so long
Your heart's been aching, but
You're too shy to say it
Inside, we both know what's been going on
We know the game and we're gonna play it

And if you ask me how I'm feeling
Don't tell me you're too blind...

Superman was one of the first superheroes to become a worldwide icon, so it was fitting that he would become one of the first superhero films to lead a film franchise. The franchise started in 1978 in Superman: The Movie. This was followed by 1980's Superman 2, 1983's Superman 3 and 1987's Superman: The Quest for Peace. There was a Supergirl in 1984 that took place in the same continuity. In 2006, a new sequel, called Superman Returns, came out. It served as the finale to the original film franchise and was dedicated to Christopher Reeve and his wife, Dana Reeve.
