DVDs have been something that I have collected a lot since I was a kid. Due to the rising popularity and convenience of streaming services, a lot of people stopped getting DVDs. I do regularly use streaming services. However, streaming services have an infamous habit of taking stuff away. Because of that, DVDs are still good to collect if you want to make sure you can keep copies of your favorite shows and movies.
I'm a bit of a cheapskate, so I haven't picked up any DVDs from my local stores in months. The annual yard sale happened, so I went out to try to find cool collectibles. DVDs ended up being the main thing that I found. I ended up getting a lot more DVDs than I was intending.
There is a place that tends to sell stuff during the Summer, so I went to it the day before the yard sale. They had DVDs that were only a dollar per DVD, so I picked up two.
I picked up Batman: The Movie (the 1966 film). I already had that, but my previous copy wasn't in the best shape. Since it's my favorite superhero film, I think that it was worth getting another copy of it. I also picked up Shrek 2. I really like the Puss in Boots character, so I figured that the film was worth the dollar.
On the day of the yard sale, there was a house that had a really good selection of DVDs that were also only a dollar per DVD. At first, I picked up five DVDs. However, they had such a good selection for such a good price that I went back and got ten more.
Tinker Bell is a character that has become so popular that she has managed to get her own series of films. She had six films of her own. I was able to find five of them. The films are on Disney+, but having the movies on a physical format with cool packaging and extras made it worth it.
The other DVDs that I got:
Frozen 2 (Of course, I already had the film, but I loved it so much that it was worth having an extra copy for a dollar.)
X-Men: Apocalypse (I already had some of the X-Men films on DVD, but not this one.)
X-Men: The Last Stand (One of the places at the yard sale was selling this film for two dollars. I decided to pass on it, because I wanted to see if I could find it for a dollar. I went across the street and found it for a dollar.)
The Addams Family (2019 film)
Ghostbusters (the original film)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles seasons five and six two-pack (the original series)
Ernest three film set (I have seen at least one Ernest film, but I don't believe that I've seen the three that come in this set. Getting three films in one set for a dollar seemed like a really good deal to me.)
13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo (the series featuring the voice of Vincent Price)
Cinderella (2015 live-action remake that comes with a Frozen short)
Jungle 2 Jungle (Jungle 2 Jungle is an underrated Disney comedy starring Tim Allen and Martin Short. It's not a film that's easily available to get, so I feel lucky that I was able to find it.)
I had seen most of these films and had been wanting to add them to my collection. I have seen some of them at stores, but I always passed on them. I'm glad that I was able to find them for a dollar a piece.
