For anyone who cares, Rainbow has recently stated that the sales of Monsuno and Winx have been so bad that they were the cause of the companies year to year decline, so I don’t think they are gonna hold on to the doll line much longer.
But the problem isn’t that little girls don’t like Winx, here are the problems:
No Promotion for the show or dolls
Not a whole lot of merchandise to help promote the show
Season 3 airing at 6 a.m.
Seasons 4-6 airing on Sundays at a time that a lot of people go to church ect.
Magical Adventure being cut down 40min.
Reruns only airing on TeenNick
No DVD releases aside from the movies with a few episodes packed in
Misleading Scheduling
Notice this. Nick breezed through Seasons 3 and 4. When Season 5 started getting bad ratings (and the dolls stopped selling) Nick knew then and there that they would not renew the series. This has to be why Season 5 went on so many hiatuses and Why Season 6 is being spread across 2 episodes a month. They are trying to stretch what they have left of the series out as far as they can.
I personally think that Rainbow has something up there sleeve though. for one thing, Nick in the UK just got PopPixie and Winx has been on Nick in other countries even before the US.
I hope this only means the end of Winx on Nickelodeon in the US and not the end of Winx in the US as a whole. If this is the case, then i’m glad seeing as Nick never really cared for the series.
