As Cierra Fray ran through the cold forest, the scent of blood filled the air.
The stomping of boots behind her became louder and louder as time went on.
"Over here, men!" A loud voice said. "I can smell her blood! Come out, come out wherever you are!" The voice was the head of Asru, the organization whose prison she escaped from.
The thick brush scraped her bare arms and legs, giving her deep cuts. Poison Ivy nicked her dark skin. Hopefully, Cierra looked up at the night sky for some sign of a way out. All that was there was the moon, mocking her. It was free, and she wasn't. Well, not with Asru on her tail.
"Oh lord," She whispered to herself. "Please like- kill all of them. You know I'm innocent. I didn't kill that poor woman. Dear God, protect me. Amen."
As she kept running, an arrow came rushing right past her head. It sliced her cheek right open. In pain, Sierra fell to the ground, screaming. The blood ran down her face, dripping onto the cold ground beneath her. The scarlet river kept flowing and flowing.
"Ah!" She yelled. She pulled her backpack of her back, and searched for the ointment and bandage. Quickly, Cierra patched it up and applied her backpack on her back once more.
Again, she ran. Her legs pumping like pistons. "Steady Ce', steady. Not too fast, you're going to be running for a while."
Her loose ponytail came out and her hair was flowing in the wind behind her. It was whipping around her face and leaving burns on her forehead. The bandage on her cheek came off. "Aw crap!" Cierra screamed. She ran some more and knelt to the ground behind a bush, near a waterfall. 'Woah, where'd a waterfall come from? It's like someone sent it just for me. Odd.' She thought, cleansing her ample wound. She reached into her worn out backpack she took from Asru, and took out the alcohol drops. Carefully, she pinched the bottle and dropped it into her cheek. With every drop, she bit her lip harder until she lost even more blood. Cierra took out her needle and thread (just in case, you never know.)and painstakingly sowed up her wound. When she sneezed, blood came out of her nose.
"OH MY GOSH! HOLY CRAP!" And with that, she passed out.
Three days later, Cierra woke up. Somehow, Asru never found her. When she looked up she saw a face starting down at her.
"AAH!" Cierra screamed, and slapped the mysterious man. "Get away!"
He held his face which was now scarlet. "Ow! What the heck, psycho chick? A guy tries to make sure you're okay and this is how you treat him? Geez!"
"Oh my gosh, oh my gosh. OH. MY. GOSH! I am so sorry! I'm just- a girl with trust issues."
"I can see that."
Cierra reached into her backpack, and brought out ointment and cooling cream.
"Goodness gracious. So sorry again. Here, sit down. Lemme fix your cheek." He sat down and let her apply the lotion to his face. She squeezed a dollop into her palm, and used two fingers from her other hand to circle it into his skin.
"Man, you are a crazy helpful chick, aren't you?" He asked, watching her movements.
"If you could stop calling me 'chick' that's be awesome." She said, suddenly irked.
"Sorry girl, habit. The names Nate-Nate Thoreson. What's yours?"
She stopped rubbing his cheek. "My names Cierra, Cierra Yager. What's your business?"
"My business is what the heck are you doing here?" He said, stretching his back.
"You first, how'd you find me?" Cierra asked leaning back on a rock behind her, knees up to her chest.
"Well, I was hiking like I always do on Saturday afternoons, and I saw this girl passed out by Tucana Falls, that waterfall behind us, and so I made sure you had enough water. I also washed your face, and watched you to make sure you'd wake up. Except I You know, had to go to school. Gotta keep up that straight C average, you know." He winked at her.
"Nice, thanks." Picking up her backpack, she said, "I got to go, figure out where to live. I kinda don't know- well I don't need to tell you that." She stood up and patted down her black jeans. "Bye, what was it? Oh yeah, Nate. Thanks for, well, watching over me I guess."
"No!" Nate screamed. " I mean, come on. You just woke up. When was the last time you ate? You're as skinny as a twig."
"No, I am fine. Leave me alone, do you know what I've been running from?" She asked, not excepting an answer. "Yeah, if I told you, you would believe me. Uh-huh, that's right." Cierra nodded her head, knowingly.
"Seriously, waddya like? Chinese, Thai, Burgers and fries, Mexican? Please, my treat. Anything. Really." Nate was literally begging and pleading at this point.
"Okay, I'll have LEAVE ME ALONE." She said sternly.
"That was smooth, you're good." He said, crossing his arms and smirking.
"I know!" She said in a fake valley girl voice. "I know why you want me to eat. Hahaha, oh this is good isn't it?"
"Why? You think you're so smart don't you?"
"Oh I know, someone has a little crush on me."
Nate looked around. "Oh, did a bear come by and carve his and your initials into a tree trunk? Cause last I checked, I have a girlfriend."
"You think you're so funny don't you?"
"I know I'm funny."
"Oh. Alright, so you're a pretty big flirt." Cierra creased her eyebrows angrily. "I don't like flirts. If you wanna buy me food, buy me a big ol' burger, with extra pickles cheese and meat, with a side of extra large fries. Then, buy me some cupcakes. No, a Black Forest Cake. Wait even better, two Black Forest Cakes. Haha! I am awesome! Ooh! I want lemonade. Yeah, so gigantic burger, fries, lemonade, and two Black Forest Cakes. Yep."
"Fatty." Nate mumbled.
"What was that?" Cierra said, balling up her fists.
"Nothing."
"That's what I thought." She said, turning away from him.
"One problem to your little, I mean large pig out, though." Nate said cautiously.
"Oh, shut up."
"It's not nice to swear at strangers who saved your life from weird buff army guys. Anyways, I don't have any money. Well I do, but my lady friend and I have a date tonight. I gotta save."
"Did you say big army guys?"
"Yeah. Why?"
"I don't know. What'd they say?"
"They were all like, blah blah blah, have you seen this girl? I saw you before they came, so I'm like, 'Nope, not really. Sorry.'"
"Why didn't you rat me out?"
"I don't know, do you want me to?" Nate asked, getting a little annoyed.
"No!" She yelled. "I mean, do you want that money now?"
Nate's face brightened. "Yeah! Show me the green!"
"You are a freakazoid."
Cierra reached into her backpack and pulled out a wallet. Flipping through bills, she grabbed a couple.
"Here's $250. Is that enough?" She asked.
"What the fu-" Nate yelled.
"Don't swear at me!" She screamed.
"Where'd all that green come from, girl? I have doctor parents, and I don't even get that much allowance in a year!" Nate said, taking the money.
"Oh that? It's not that much is it? My parents were pretty loaded when they were- um. I actually don't know where they are. Anyway, I went to my bank and pulled it out. No biggie." She shrugged.
"No, it's a big biggie." Nate chuckled. "Big biggie. HAH! New signature." And with that, he pulled out his iPhone.
Confused, Cierra asked. "What's that?"
Nate looked up at her in surprise. His eyes bugged out, and jaw dropped to the ground. "Y-y-y-you don't know what an iPhone is? When were you born? 1892?"
"Sorry, when you come from a different dimen- I mean um country, you don't hear much."
"Did I hear you say dimension?" Nate asked suspiciously.
"No, what? Dude, that is messed up. There's only one dimension. Everyone knows that, even Mr. C Average should know." She smirked.
"You are very annoying, you know that?" He said angrily.
Cierra flipped her hair over her shoulder. Before answering, she looked at his features. Blonde, almost white hair, green eyes, average height, athletic build, and from the look of his Under Armour, a rocking six pack. 'EWW! What am I thinking? He has a girlfriend and I'm happily single.'
SNAP SNAP SNAP! "Hello! Totally handsome, super hot guy speaking. Could you hear me?"
"Sorry, completely zoned out there. What did you say?"
"No worries, you just look really pale. It looks really weird against your dark skin, no racism intended, FYI. I'm serious though. You better sit down before you pass out."
"But I don't feel dizzy. I don't really!"
"I don't care I don't want anyone dying in my hands. And that crudely sown stitch looks like its gonna pop any moment."
Before she could settle down, she fainted.
When Cierra awoke, she was in Nate's lap. He was stroking her head absentmindedly. It felt like when her mother back in Mandran. (Where she's from obviously.) As a baby, she would be rocked to sleep, her mother stroking her head and singing. "Sleep away, far away. Where the stars fly in circles, the moon their companion. Sleep baby girl, don't cry no more, for the night as come. Monsters not real, you won't be their meal, oh baby girl don't cry no more. I love you and always will, be quiet, soft and still."
It had brought a tear to her eye, but she shuffled around in Nate's lap so he wouldn't see. 'Fugitives aren't supposed to cry. I'm not supposed to cry.' She thought pitifully. 'Tears show weakness. I am not weak. That's what daddy taught me.' Cierra heard rustling of leaves, and footsteps.
"NATE! WHO THE HECK IS THAT?" Suddenly, her head was dropped onto the cold floor.
"Babe, I can explain." Nate pleaded.
"Fine, I can listen." The mysterious female voice said, annoyed.
"Okay, so I'm hiking up here like I usually do, you know, and I see this girl passes out on the ground. She's kinda fat, by the way, and so I took care of her until she woke up. She woke up today, and we've been talking. The girl, her names Cierra, hates my guts." He explained.
"Really? Aw Nate, you're so humanitarian! Oh, I love you." She heard kissing. Long kissing.
"Yeah, you too babe." He kissed her cheek. "You wanna wake her up, Quinn? She passed out again, she hasn't eaten in forever. I tried to get her to eat, but she's annoyingly stubborn."
"Oh. Ma. Gosh. So tragic, I'll wake her up, then we'll walk over to TJ's. Grab some burgers, I've exercised all day. I deserve some grease." She said, smiling.
"Yes, you do. You look amazing." Nate wolf-whistled.
Quinn walked over and nudged Cierra with her foot. "Hello, Cierra? Please wake up."
Faking, Cierra woke up slowly. "Ah man, what happened?"
Nate butted in. "You passed out after I offered you food."
"Dude." Cierra said extenuating the U. "I feel like cr-" Before she could finish saying crap, she puked all over the ground. But she puked up acid, and nothing else.
"Totally gross! But it's okay. I think. OMG! You have amazing fashion sense. All black looks amazing on you."
Cierra looked down at her black knit tank top, black jeans, combat boots and her long hair in a ponytail. "Thanks, I just through this on, I look like a contestant on one of those survivor reality T.V. shows, right?"
"Yes, you do. But you make it look hot." Quinn licked her finger and went TSSS on her butt.
"Thank you? I think?"
"Just go with it, I don't even know what to do with her." Nate whispered.
"Oh shut up Nate, you know I'm going to end up being the future Mrs. Thoreson! So deal with it."
Nate silently rolled his eyes, and pinched the bridge of his nose. 'No she isn't, I'm planning to break up with her soon.' He mouthed to Cierra.
"WHY?" Cierra screamed.
"What? What's going on you okay?" Quinn asked nervously.
Cierra shook her head, clearing her cluttered thoughts. "It was nothing. Really, I'm starving. Do we have anything to eat?"
Nate walked over to her backpack and looked inside. "There are some granola bars, chocolate chips, peanut butter, and oatmeal raisin. Which one you want?"
Quinn interrupted before Cierra could say anything. "I want oatmeal raisin, Cierra wants peanut butter." She said matter-of-factly.
"I'm allergic to peanut butter, but thanks. Chocolate chip, please."
"Sure," Nate tossed the granola bars over. "This should tide you over until we get to TJ's. I hope."
Together, with Nate and Quinn on either sides of her, they sort of limped all the way to TJ's. It took about three hours, considering they had a sick person on their hands, but they got it.
"Thanks guys. You're the best." Cierra looked up and saw the most 50's era diner ever. It was red and white, with big windows all over so you could peek inside. You could smell cheeseburgers with hot sauce, freshly cut french fries, and red velvet cake, her favorite back in Mandran.
"Oh, no problem. A friend of Nate's is a friend of mine!" Quinn said happily. "Except Kelly. Are you still friends with her?" She said annoyed.
"Yes, and if you keep asking me, darling, I'll always say yes. Just saying."
"You know I don't like her."
"Everyone at Styles High knows, Quinn."
"I can't believe she did that though."
"No one can believe she purposely spilled ketchup on your new Forever21 blouse."
"And my jeans, dear."
"Yes, your Limited Edition Miss Me Jeans. I know."
"They weren't even on sale!" She whined.
"Yes, I know. Tragic, ain't it Cierra?" Nate sighed.
Cierra just looked at Quinn. She was very thin, with light peach skin. Around her brown eyes were light green eyeshadow, and she was wearing lip gloss. Quinn was wearing a light pink blouse, (Forever21 probably) medium wash grey jeggings, and knee high brown leather boots. 'Typical girl. I like all black, ponytails, and combat boots. Nothing in this world is going to change that.' She thought to herself.
"I mean seriously! They were 100 dollars! WASTED! I tell you, she needs to be eliminated."
"DUDE! No killing people! Or thinking about it! I've told you before!" Nate yelled.
"You can't tell me what to do!" Quinn yelled back. "I'm my own woman!"
"Then stop acting like a brat!"
"I am my own woman, and I can do whatever the hell I want, Nathan!"
"Guys! Calm down, are you really fighting over whether or not Quinn is her own woman? Are you really that vain Quinn? Nate, are you really that unsupportive?" Cierra screamed.
Nate and Quinn just looked at each other, tears filling up in their eyes. They dropped Cierra, and ran into each other's arms and kissed.
"Eww." Cierra whispered to herself.
When they stopped, Nate put his forehead to hers and said quietly, "I'm sorry, babe."
"Me too, I was bratty. I'm truly sorry." A tear ran down Quinn's cheek.
"Guys?" Cierra interrupted. "Semi dying girl here? Kinda hungry?"
The hugging and crying stopped suddenly.
"Oh snap," Nate whispered, breaking away from Quinn's embrace. "Forgot. Sorry."
"OMG! Yeah, we forgot." Quinn shrugged. "Drama, you know."
"Yeah, I was watching the whole time. I was here. FYI." Cierra said, sort of pissed off about them forgetting her. She was sick, tired, and hungry, then they had to go and argue all stupidly.
"She's probably still hungry, you know." Quinn said.
"Thank you Captain Obvious!" Cierra yelled. "'She's still hungry you know? Of course I am! I am near death! I have passed out like I don't even know how many times in the past hour! So shut up and take me inside, now."
Nate and Quinn looked at her in shock. Tears formed in Quinn's eyes, and Nate just pinched his nose and shook his head. Mascara ran down Quinn's face like tiny tar filled rivers.
"I-I-I, I am SO sorry!" Sobs. "I just, I..." More sobs.
"What have you done?" Nate mouthed.
"I don't know," Cierra mouthed back. "I'm going to leave. Sorry Quinn. I truly am sorry, forgive me. Bye guys."
"Wait!" Nate grabbed Cierra's arm as she was leaving. "You should eat first. I mean, because you might pass out-again."
"No. I'm going to be fine," She released Nate's grip. "Leave me alone."
He crossed his arms, annoyed about how she won't let him help her. He pinched the bridge of his nose and exhaled loudly.
"Okay, I am going to walk into TJ's, alright?"
"Yeah, whatever, have fun."
"I'm not finished. You are going to follow me and Quinn inside. Then I am going to turn around and if you're not behind me, I will kill you before you die of hunger."
"Creepers much?" Cierra asked sarcastically.
"I'm serious. You are going to die, and if you do out there, I won't care." Nate yelled.
"You know what? I'd rather die than stay here with you!" Cierra yelled back. "You like me don't you, is that it? Is that why you were going to break up with Quinn?"
Nate made a 'cut it' sign across his neck. "Stop, that's not-"
"That is it, isn't it? You know what? I don't like you so get over it, lover boy." And with that, Cierra stomped off into TJ's opened the door and went in. She peeked her head out the glass door. "One last thing, I'm eating for me. Not for you, you have fun trying to explain things to Quinn." She smiled evilly, and ordered herself burgers, fries, and a chocolate milkshake.
"Is that true?" said a sniffling Quinn. "Was all the things she said true?"
"Er, um, well, some of it." Nate said, shuffling his feet on the gravel road.
"It was wasn't it?" Tears welled up in her eyes. "You're breaking up with me? But-I LOVE YOU! You always knew but never cared right? You- you jerk! I never knew how mean and cruel you could be! But I guess it was coming sooner or later. Say goodbye to Mrs. Nate Thoreson. You'll never see me again."
"But we have every class together at Styles!" He said as she walked off.
"I don't care! I will switch every single one of my classes if I have to stay away from you!" Quinn said turning around.
"You're locker is right next to mine, and Principal Oxford won't let anyone switch." He said matter of factly.
"After three switches. Three, I've used two. I don't care if I waste my last one. My life is ruined and it's all your fault."
"But Quinn-"
"Just shove it, and suck it, Thoreson." She spat. "Shove it and suck it. I don't need your crap weighing me down anymore. No more, 'Oh football practice was totally brutal! Or my head hurts massage it, or make me a sandwich!' Oh you know what?" She reached into her purse and grabbed a sandwich she'd made for Nate earlier. She threw it at his face. "Here's your stupid sandwich. Bye."
Nate just stared at her walking off. His was so angry at Cierra for bringing those things up. They were all true, but they didn't need to be said aloud! Or at Quinn's face. With a pissed off look on his face, he walked into TJ's. He looked around until he saw Cierra eating what looked to be her third one.
"What the heck was that?" Nate yelled.
"I tell the truth, and sometimes it hurts." She said simply with her back to him.
"You know what? That was the most dramatic thing I have ever experienced with Quinn! Are you happy?"
Cierra turned around. "Yes," she nodded happily. "Yes I am."
"You are a cruel hearted witch."
"I get that a lot. Words are like bullets I let them pass right through me."
"Oh my gosh you are hard to insult, aren't you?"
"Yep, pretty much. Is it annoying?" Cierra said mockingly.
"Yes." Nate sighed. "Can I have some of your burger?"
She put down her lunch. "Go for it."
He shrugged. "Thanks." Nate sneezed. "Can I sit?"
"I don't care."
"Okay," he bit into the burger. "Oh, tastes just like heaven!"
"Of course you would know what heaven tastes like." She said rolling her eyes.
"Yeah, it's when Quinn's kisses me."
"Oh my gosh. You kissed her? Gross."
"No!" He laughed. "I never liked her enough to kiss her. I'm just kidding. Or am I?" He wiggled his eyebrows.
'That looked kinda hot. What am I thinking?' Cierra thought. Instead of sweating it out, she took a bunch of fries, jammed them in ketchup, and stuck them in her mouth. She couldn't swallow it, so it stuck right out of her mouth.
"That's attractive," Nate said, taking one of the fries out of her mouth and eating it.
Cierra spat all of them out, and covered Nate in a mountain of ketchup and fries.
"What was that?" He yelled.
"I am so sorry, but that was completely and utterly disgusting! You took it outta my mouth and ate it! Yuck!"
"What? I wanted some fries!"
"There are some in the basket, duh!" She pointed to the red basket on the table.
"I know, I'm not stupid. It'd just be fun to eat it out of a girls mouth. I like that." He winked at her.
"Eww."
"I'm going home to change." He stood up out of the booth. "You wanna come?"
"Um, sure? I need new clothes. Do you have any?"
"Yeah, sure. My sister has some clothes you might like. She's kinda emo, like you so it'll suit your style." He looked her up and down slowly, then smiled. "You'll be fine right? Coming to a hot guys house."
"Ooh! Is Edward here?"
"From Twilight?"
"Gross. Prince Edward from- yeah, yeah I mean Twilight." She said rethinking her words.
"You okay? You seem disconnected."
"I'm fine. Now can we please go?"
"Okay. Whatever. Emo chick."
As they walked out of the door, Cierra said to him, "I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that, and you didn't say that."
"Whatever."
"Whatever."

"Whatever."
"Whatever."
OK, so, with the holidays and the business of school, I have decided NO party chapter. I won't be able to write it for a while, anyway. So, let me just put it this way:
Over the span of.. let's say 6 weeks, Miranda, Sam and Alexander became better friends, and Sam still had a crush on Alex. Sam was still friends with Skye, but, being with the popular crowd, was pulled away and restricted from "hanging with the nobobdies."
Soon, Skye's friendship with her became a hatred and a fire started and now, she hates Sam. So, Sam, Alex and Marie are all on friends terms (Alex and Sam.. well, lil' higher) and Skye is frienemies with Sam.

Jagged crevices cut crudely
Not enough patience.
They rudely act out of duty.
Except for the movement that exists here
While the Spheres wait patiently for years
To be tormented from the cemented clouds
However their ever so patient, ever so patient.
Waiting for an ending of the intelligent, ignorant, belligerent.
The battle scarred unknowns secretly wait alone.
For the intricate impatients to lay ruined in lacerations.
Petty conflicts of constant greed, destroying all nations.
So the weather hardened unknowns, wait to be alone.
