"This is Sabrina, my fiancee."
"This is Sabrina, my fiancee."
I counted to twenty until the door finally opened. A familiar brown haired man appeared from behind it, smiling.
"Erica, nice to see you!" Chris greeted, motioning inside. "Come in!"
"Thanks," I muttered, following him to the livingroom. Usually, Annaliese would be reading magazines there, or Victoria would be painting her nails.
"Where're the girls?" I asked awkwardly, forgetting the reason why I came here.
"Anna's working late, and Vicky's attending a basketball game. Do you need anything?" he asked after I looked around the livingroom.
"Oh, I just... wanted to know... how you guys were doing, after you know..." I felt my cheeks burn.
He smiled encouragingly. "We're working on it. I've fulfilled my promise already."
I raised an eyebrow. "Really? You're married?"
Before he answered, a pretty blonde woman with blue eyes entered the room with a cookie tray.
"Erica," Chris scooted over as the lady sat down. "This is Sabrina, my fiancee."
She shook my hand. "Nice to meet you, Erica." She handed me a cookie.
"We're still trying to find a house," Chris confided. "Dad's really picky about the kind of houses we live in."
I laughed. "I guess he is. Your house is very lovely."
I watched his brown eyes linger to Sabrina's blue ones, and a happy feeling crept up on me. When was the last time I had actually had a date with Robin? I remembered his 17th birthday part a few weeks ago...
Suddenly, I heard shouting in my ear.
Sabrina jumped. "What was that?"
"Sorry," I muttered apologetically, and picked it up. "Hello?"
"Erica, we need you back at base immediately," Aqualad said in a panicky tone. "We need to get to Gotham Cemetary as quickly as possible!"
"I'll meet you there," I told him, and hung up. Chris looked at me, worried.
"What's wrong?"
"I have to go," I said, gulfing down my cookie. "The team needs me." I said good-bye, then hurried back to the cemetary, wondering what they wanted with me.

I found the team surrounding Jeannette's grave in defensive positions. Most of the Justice League was patrolling the cemetary with grave expressions.
"What's wrong?" I inquired as I caught up to them.
Megan's green skin looked pale. "Darkseid is coming... he wants to take Jeannette's powers!"
"But she's dead!" I intervened. Or was she?
"He seems to think he isn't!" her mouth was set in a straight line, quivering.
Robin looked at me suspiciously. "Where were you?"
"I was just here," I replied, looking for the Dark Knight. "Where's Batman?"
He reluctantly pointed to the gate of the cemetary, where Batman stood, brooding. I ran toward him, pushing away the fact that I was almost as tall as him.
"Darkseid's after Jenny?" I prompted.
He nodded. "Like you, he thinks that she's alive. We're not taking any risks, so we're staying here for the night."
"Wait... how did you know--?" I started.
"The computer reported your research to me," he said casually. "Either the League hasn't been updating, or Jeannette Thomas is not dead."
Superman landed in between us. "The city's preparing for evacuation."
It's this serious? I walked back to where the team was standing, fearful.
"Megan..." I asked slowly, "Who IS Darkseid?"

She shook her head, looking at the sky.
"The city's preparing for evacuation."
"The city's preparing for evacuation."
