When I regained consciousness, Pegasus was still in his monstrous form. “Little girl,” he laughed, “You remember when I killed your parents? How you were shaking in the corner? You would’ve been next if weren’t for young Kaiba boy.” I vaguely remember Seto attacking Pegasus and after that I never saw Pegasus again. That’s how I ended up at the orphanage and meet Seto and Mokuba. I only stayed for one year, but during that time Seto and I became best friends. He even told me his deepest darkest secret about his family.
“My parents sent Mokuba and I to a foster home. Their sorcerer told them that the people I was sent to were going to pass on when I turned 10; I was 7 at the time. When they did pass, we were to be sent here and adopted by some rich guy. But my parents’ plan was to protect you. They knew that that monster was going to attack your parents, so I had to protect you.” I remember staring at him in shock. “Why did you have to be adopted by so many people when you already have parents?” I asked. I was so naïve back then; I didn’t understand much of what he was saying at the time. “To protect you. Mokuba and I have to be adopted by the rich guy so that we can stay here in Japan until you return.” “Return from where? I don’t want to leave you.” I cried. He hugged me and said, “We’ll meet again. Don’t worry.”
“W-Why do you have to protect me?” “That’s the other part of the plan…” he was cut off by the lady that owns the place, “Kyra, dear. Come meet your new father.” Seto and I were surprised, so we walked over there together. That man looked very strange. I turned to Seto and he nodded like this is when I leave. I cried again, I didn’t want to leave Seto and Mokuba. Who knows when I’ll see them again? “Seto,” I asked in a whisper “When will I see you again?” Seto was quiet on that question, as if he himself didn’t know. It was apparent that he didn’t.
“So as you can see little girl,” Pegasus said as if he read my mind. “Throughout your life you’ve constantly had to be protected. So, you must be quite the weakling.” He said and lunged at me. He didn’t hit me, however. Right at the moment he would’ve knocked me out, a black blur jumped in front of me. I looked to the left where it landed and saw Seto. I was amazed at how fast he was able to move. Then it hit me. Seto is able to move freakishly fast, he called himself a monster before; he was able to stand up and look completely normal after he was shot. Twice. There’s no way he’s human. To add on to that, when he attacked Pegasus before, I saw his eyes change color and fangs erected out of his mouth. I can’t believe that I’ve been so naïve. Seto Kaiba is a vampire.
I stared at Seto, not in horror, but in disbelief. He never told me he was a vampire, but then that’s not something you’d go around telling people. I wasn’t scared like most people would be, unlike most, I believed vampires to be interesting. The fact that they’ve been so popular throughout years, centuries even, was enough to start up my curiosity. “I’m sorry I never got to tell you what I was. It was the other part of the plan.” Seto said, referring to the flashback I just had. I wasn’t as surprised with his response since one of a vampire’s powers is to read minds and many vamps do posses it. “You insolent little prince! How dare you interfere!” Pegasus cried, as he swung wide at the both of us with a crab like claw that I had just noticed. Why had Pegasus called Seto a prince?
A bright light emulated from the general direction of Seto. When it faded, he appeared to be in battle armor and he drew a fiery red sword from his hilt. “Pegasus, you have forced me to this. I suggest you kindly get out of our way. For good.” Seto said. “I do not wish to do such a thing, oh prince.” Seto smirked and charged at Pegasus. I hate this feeling. This feeling that I can’t do a thing. It’s exactly how I felt on that night. I want to be able to do things for my self and to not have to be protected all the time. Before I knew it, Seto had chopped Pegasus into pieces and returned his sword to his hilt. Wait a minute. Did Pegasus call Seto “prince”? Obviously not the singer from long ago. That must mean that Seto is royalty, vampire royalty. Seto Kaiba is The Prince of Vampires.
Seto came to me and sighed, “Yes, I am The Prince of Vampires. I was going to tell you when… I …youshouldn'thave found out like this.” I felt unable to speak, except I didn't know why. Since he could read my thoughts…it wouldn'thave mattered how I found out, just as long as I did, I thought to him. “So you’re saying that when you thought I was human you loved me, but now that you know what I am, you hate me?” he said with a hurt look on his face. I was shocked at his reply. No Seto! I don’t care if you’re human or not, I love you for love is blind. Seto looked relieved. “Say it.” I just looked at him, not quite sure what he meant. He closed his eyes and repeated, “Say it.” Say what? I saw a lone tear go down Seto’s face. I couldn’t bear to see him cry, so I hugged him close and whispered from my own tears, “I love you.”
