AN: So sorry that I took so long.

Yxari slowly opened her eyes to the blinding fluorescent light. She squinted them in time so that she didn't blind herself. She heard heavy breathing and steady beeping beside her, and saw that Light Sullen was sitting in the chair by some white bed that she was in, asleep. The beeping was coming from a heart meter, that was connected to her finger. Her head pounded in protest of being awake, and she heard the door to the room creak open, stifling a groan from her. Light's eyes shot open and he spun around in the chair, growling at whoever came in.
"Oh. It's you." He sat back down, only to see that Yxari was awake. He gasped softly. "She's up."
An orange lynx popped her head around the corner to reveal herself. She smiled sweetly at Yxari. She came over to stand by her bed, a clipboard in hand. The name-tag on her white overalls said 'Nurse Rin'.
"Hey, there, Miss Sadaris. Dare I ask how you feel?" she questioned, dimming the light in the room with a dial.
"Better after you did that. Mainly a migraine," the woman stated. Rin nodded with a smile and jotted it down onto her clipboard, pulling a pen from hammerspace. She put the back of her hand onto Yxari's forehead.
"Still a bit warm. After you were beaten, you got sick, dear," Rin said.
"How long have I been out?" Yxari asked. Before Rin could answer, Light pitched in with the conversation.
"You've been asleep for a week and three days, Sadaris." She noticed that he had dark bags under his eyes, and he refused to look at her since Rin came over to the bed.
"Yeah. Mr. Sullen hasn't left your side since he brought you in here. At all." Rin sent Light a pointed glare. Light sent one right back.
Yxari tilted her head in inquiry. She then looked down at herself and saw that she was wearing a sort of hospital gown, completely wrapped in bandages. She felt the hot blood rush to her face and she glared at Light.
"Pervert!" she yelled, thwacking the prisoner on the head. He grabbed her wrist.
"I wasn't looking, Sadaris. Heh heh..." He released her, only to be hit in the head with Rin's clipboard. He growled at her, the way only disturbing homicidal maniacs can. Yxari grinned and sat back into the bed, marvelling in the fact that she can breathe/speak again. She stared over at Rin.
"Wait... Where the hell am I?" she asked. "I've never been in here before."
Rin's eyes widened. "Yes you have. A long while ago, but you were in here before."
"What? When?"
Rin smiled warmly, as if she were preparing to give sad news. "The last time you were in the Infirmary, you were thirteen years old. That was six years ago. The incident that occurred happened right after you had gotten your job as Executioner. An inmate caught you with the syringe and tried to kill you. Your guardian stepped in and sent him to death on the spot."
Her guardian...? Oh. Sid. She traced her finger over the tattoo she had on her left wrist. It was a circle, with the letters 'MdA' in the centre and a syringe underneath it. It marked her job as an Executioner. Was she fired? She pondered in silence as Light stared.
"Are you alright?" he asked. She looked up, startled.
"Oh, uh, yeah." Light looked over to her tattoo that she was tracing. He slowly reached over and took her wrist. He turned it over to get full view of the tattoo. He grunted.
"When did you get this?" he asked.
"Six years ago..."
"Y... You got a tattoo when you were thirteen?" he stared in disbelief. She looked away and nodded.
"That's when I started my job."
Light frowned. "But you were just a kid."
"I was a kid for three years after I was taken in. When I was eight, my parents were killed. Ana-Lysa tried to kill me when I was nine, and that's when Sid found me."
Light suddenly felt guilt. He had parents, no matter how bossy they may be. But she had Sid and Ana-Lysa, whatever relation she had to her. She looked like she could be her sister.
"Ah well. Better than being dead."
Light scowled. "You're not staying here," he promised.
Yxari frowned. "That's kind of impossible. I have to stay here, Light."
Light looked over to Rin, who was injecting morphine into the transfusion bag that hung beside the bed. "Rin."
She looked over to him. "What?"
"Where do you store the the Liquid Death?"
"Sullen, I'm not telling you that."
"Light, what are you planning?" Both Rin and Yxari spoke at the same time.
He just shrugged. "It's a work in progress."
Yxari and Rin exchanged a look.

Meanwhile, the stoic warden drummed his fingers on his desk, his ash-tray holding his cigarette. He leaned forward from his chair and pressed the red intercom button.
"Ana-Lysa! My office! Now!" he barked. He moved his finger off the button and awaited Ana-Lysa's footsteps.
His door opened slightly to reveal the gypsy. Sid's lips tilted in a sinister grin.
"Come on in, Ana."
The Acid Monster looked slowly from side to side, expecting to be jumped by the guards. She didn't see any, so she cautiously stepped in. "Yes, sir?"
Sid tilted his head to the side. "Sir? Am I not still 'Sid' to you? Sit down, Sadaris."
Ana-Lysa obeyed, sitting in the wooden chair in front of Sid's desk. She folded her hands in her lap, and fidgeted under the warden's glare.
"I have a proposition for you."
Ana-Lysa inclined her head, a form of acknowledgement.
"In exchange for your niece's life, would you become the temporary executioner?"
Her eyes widened. "What?"
Sid threw his head back in a laugh. "You see, my dear," he let his head roll to look over at Ana-Lysa, "Yxari is not well. She has caught a rather bad cold, and some criminals need to die. I need a temporary Angel of Death to make sure that they do. Now, I could ask anybody, but then they would have to die, as well. So, if I don't pull Yxari's plug, you kill bad people. Deal?"
Ana-Lysa sat there, dumbstruck. She barely managed a nod, and Sid's dark smile grew wider.
"Great. I already have the list." He slid a clipboard across the desk with a small stack of papers clipped to it.
1.) Shawn Gaither
2.) Ezekiel Drake
3.) Light Sullen
4.) Johnathan Pannell
She dropped the clipboard.
