"Irresistable genre cocktail"

Arbout 70 children and young people got to work with Alexander Rybak and ended with a bang.

Since Friday, children and young people from Helgeland, Sweden and Russia worked intensively to put together songs for a final concert on Sunday evening.
Promoter Prima Music School and Violetta Sørensen has worked continuously for 2 months to put it all together.
There have been some tough months until now. It’s a challenge to guide so many children and young people up to such an event. I want to thank parents and Helgeland Sparebank for all the help, Sørensen says.
She is impressed with the will to work of both the children and of Alexander Rybak, who was hired as leader of the seminar.

- It is a pleasure to see that the childlren have had so much fun the last few days. They have endured the long days. Rybak has also been patient and taken his time for everyone. It has been entirely positive, and it’s so fun to hear kids say that they do not want to go home after the concert,- she laughs.
The Congress hall had to be filled up with extra seats, since more than 300 parents and others had shown up.

'More boys'

Johanna Stenmark, Sandra Berggrin and violin teacher Siw Buram have taken the train from Lycksele in Sweden to attend the seminar.

- It has been fun even though it has been very challenged. It has been instructed in Russian, Swedish and Norwegian, so it has not always been easy to follow,- Berggrin says.
- It has been incredibly fun to play different genres, in addition to that he has his own band with him,- Stenmark says.
Siw Buruma believe that Rybak’s success has meant that the difference in gender among violin players have been more equal.
- There have been more guys who have started playing the violin, and also have been at the seminar,- she says.

Creative use of violins works very well in a coherent group. From the left: Olga Kivaeva, Tore Vrålstad, Vilde Steira, Martine Sørvig, Alexander Rybak and Tor Alvin Wika.

'Charismatic'

- All students are on stage, and they open with a «great sound picture» in the first song. It is a great inspiration for me to meet children who are good to play. I have never felt so much responsibility,- Rybak says. -In addition, they comfort me when I get a nervous breakdown,- Rybak said to the public.

Rybak tells jokes and shows that he does not have lack of showmanship. To show how interoperable they have been during the three days, he does a stunt with a group of violinists. They play on each others violins, playing with the hand under lifting legs, and use each other’s bows.

Not that Rybak, bands and participants only show that they have good dexterity, they also have the versatility. It is performed classical music, popular music in the form of Coldplay, Swedish folksongs, Billy Joel and the audience favorite Fairytale. Together with Rybak’s charm and children and young people’s enthusiasm, it becomes an irresistible mix, and the audinence left the hall with a smile on their face.

'Really tough'

Alexander Magnus Bårdsen (8) was one of those who had signed up for the seminar and was very happy after the concert.

- It was really tough. I played out of tune sometimes, but it was great fun, Aleksander says. he also used that his namebrother led the show to joke a bit. In the notes we are told tolook at Alexander now and then. During a rehearsal I rised so everyone could look at me,- he laughs.
