I am an history/ animation movie freak. I am so passionnate about this that I decided to share it with other fans. First, I must apologize for all the mistakes I will probably make ( I am not a good writer, sorry!).
I will tell you some interesting facts about the last Tsar (Nicolas II or Anastasia father).
He is the son of Alexander III and Maria feodorovna and was born in 1868. So, in the beginning of the movie, he was 48 years old.
By the family of his mother (both mother were sisters) he was the cousin of King Georges V of England. The amazing thing about this, is that both monarch really look-alike (as you can see below). This give birth to some misunderstanding where ambassadors did actually mixed-up the two men. That must have been funny situations.
He was really in love with his wife when he married her and was seen by a lot of his friend like a good father. The movie is right on this part.
On the other end, he was not that much a great emperor ( but I don't want to enter the famous question whether he was a victim or responsible of what happened). He became Tsar at 26 and had told to his cousin just before beeing crowned that he never wanted to become Tsar. Yes, he did not always acted right and, on this, maybe the movie is lying a bit (but I understand that it was OK to do so it didn't scare young children)
I let you judge wich image we still have of Nicolas II, the last Tsar of Russia.
