HumbleQueen Well. I have little to say this time. It's hard to understand whether they're saying Arthur's death can be avoided or not. Something's getting ambiguous about that. I liked Finna. Also, I'd like to say if I ever fall in love with an onscreen couple again, I hope it's a show where they will never have to compete with another character on the show to have real and true scenes together. I hope the dramatic aspects of their relationship will not be diluted with humor. I hope they will get married and have mushy wushy kissy (sometimes on the lips) huggy times sprinkled throughout the story at times when neither of them is evil and when no one is concerned that their "mushiness" will interfere with any plot line. I hope they will be accepted by fans of the show for what they are and they will not have to be in battle against any elements simply because they interfere with any one's agenda in either the fanbase or TPTB. I hope they'll be free to work out their story, their relationship, based solely on the merits of what is trying to be achieved about them. No interferences, no cutting of relevant moments, no weird twists. Just them, being them, and working out unhindered what their story is. Otherwise, I don't intend to fall in love with any TV or movie couple again.

KshMcKenzie This episode was kind of weak and why is that for Merlin to become a great hero everyone who is important to him must die. but hey most of the time during Merlin episode 10 is always lame except for 3x10.

Nasty_Nat I think it was a waste of episode. The bit of the Dragon was good. I enjoyed it very much. But like Stacey said there's no continuation of some sort. You are left wanting more or to guess. And there's 3 episodes left. I guess we will see.

HumbleQueen ^ Hon, I don't know and we probably never will know what is behind it all. Ok, I know it could have been better and I guess what I'm trying to say is I hope I never get myself into a fictitious couple like this where it just seems it didn't get taken to the depths I wish it had and I must admit I've been bothered, particularly this year, by what I said above. It seemed more glaring to me this season, probably because they're married and I know how nicely certain things could have been woven in without the necessity of Merlin the character being one of the strands too often for my comfort. I'm not going to try explain the why of that but I've seen SO many on screen married couples over the years and I've never seen one handled quite like this, even in a comedy. But having said that, I am grateful for these two talented people. They have made it what it is. Sure, we could have had a lot more, but I think I want to dwell on what we have had over the years. Thanks to Shu's suggestion, we're now working on a tribute to them reminiscing together over many of their scenes through the seasons. And look at how many we have. And even this season there ARE some. So I think now, for my own sanity, I'm going to try to focus on that and keep enjoying the goodies we did get even though we wish some things had been different. EPaws Oh honey, the War of the Roses is nothing compared to the behind the scenes of that set lolol...enough said and no, I am not going to explain. It is done now as you said...let's enjoy. TPTB epically screwed up but these two did their very best with the utter crap they were given because it didn't fit with a set of old....yes...Queen's views of the world.

Pocketgal my thoughts - short and sweet We were right, the enchantment is all but forgotten. Arthur - poor Bradley, the inconsistency, no wonder I think he is relieved to leave Merlin behind. Finna I liked, using Hari Kari to avoid telling Morgana the truth, and her deep respect for Emrys, well played. Alator - what a waste of an excellent character and an amazing actor. Kilgarrah - I was sad to hear he is the close to the end of his time, perhaps he will use his last breath to save Arthur, like The Face of Boe in Doctor Who. Overall, not an episode really worth rewatching and that is the problem with Series 5, on my hard drive I have moments from previous series saved, the epic kisses, the romantic scenes, there is nothing here worth keeping. Although tonight when With All My Heart airs here in Oz, I will keep the lake scene.

VampyreFey Okay, but why didn't we have at least one scene where Arthur and Guinevere discuss what happened? It bothers me that the writers just keep shrugging story-lines off when they *think* they've ended them. Overall, it was a filler. The A/G we did get was adorable (because Arthur is the cutest husband in all of Albion.) Nothing happened. Morgana is not a step closer to learning who Emrys is than she was at the beginning. Finna was wonderful. Colin got to flex his immense acting talents. Morgana apparently declared war (and that's what she's been doing these past two seasons. And if we can learn anything from history, it's that she continues to fail.) The whole scene with how she declared war though turned me completely off from this episode- it was really weird and completely unneccessary. We already got the prophecy- do the writers think we need a red flag waved in our faces going "MORGANA DECLARED WAR FOR THE TEN MILLIONTH TIME! BUT IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW..." The only difference this time around is that she'll have Mordred (and I still really wish Merlin had given Mordred a chance. I fear that whatever goes down next episode is the fault of many.) I don't know- three episodes left, and all the important questions have not been addressed. This episode must have been somewhat important to the development of the finale- considering that we're so close now. Waste of precious time and wasted potential, I feel. But there were some moments like the ones between Merlin and Finna and Merlin and Kilgarrah that were emotionally moving, and very central to the growth of Merlin, himself.

And yes the two A/g scenes, particularly the breakfast in bed, were adorable, I just have to get over certain issues I have with certain aspects, but I'm just going to leave it. kbrand5333 Finna was awesome. We all pretty much agree on that. Knew Alator would die. Made me sad, but I'm glad Morgana didn't break him. Also called Finna's suicide 10 seconds before she asked for Merlin's sword. IF MORGANA CAN KILL ALATOR THAT EASILY, WHY CAN'T MERLIN DO IT TO HER? Seriously, they are REALLY making it look like Morgana is more powerful than Merlin, and it's pissing me off. I know Gaius said last week that "the only person that doubts your powers is you, Merlin," so is that what we're supposed to buy? That Merlin, who has been told for years now that he is the Great and Powerful Oz, just suffers from low self-esteem? Seriously? Okay. Mostly boring. And, God, it dragged. The place where I watch has it broken into 14 parts. I was thinking it was half over and it was only on part 4! I really miss last season. That's how I can tell if I really enjoy an episode: by how long it seems to take. The good ones fly. At least half of S4's eps just flew by. The last time an episode dragged this much was either "Love in the Time of Dragons" or that one with Gilli. Colin did a good job. Could not help but wonder why Finna didn't heal his arrow wound, though. And the faceless knight at the end was creepy.

Lucerne28 Finally had a chance to watch this episode after being out of town for the weekend. My thoughts: Okay episode. No advancement to the story. Morgana has formally declared war. Jeez, what a surprise, not. The little Arwen moments we had were cute. Wished they were able to have these moments without Merlin, but at least Gwen had some screen time. So much for the picnic we had hopped for. Oh well. I don’t understand why so many people in the magical community hold him in such high regards, and are in awe of him. So far he has exhibited nothing to merit such reverence. In their unexplained need to keep Merlin a servant, the show runners have prevented Merlin from growing in any significant way. And Arthur, if I hear one more prophesy of his death I am going to scream. Just like Merlin, Arthur was supposed to be this great King, the unifier of Albion. Just like Merlin has failed to become the wizard of legend, Arthur never flourished into this great king of legends. Yet somehow, each episode is a march towards his death. WTF! What the heck happened to Kilghrrah’s prophesy that together Merlin and Arthur would unit all the kingdoms, and create this utopia where magical beings could live in peace? I don’t understand how you can have Camlann without ever having had the golden age. What are Merlin and Arthur going to be famous for at the end of series 5? Nothing I can see. Only thing I can think of was that they existed in a land called Camelot. Instead of being headlines, they will merely be footnotes. The show runners have made Morgana so friggin powerful in their maniacal zeal to bring the end of Camelot without ever achieving the golden age of Albion that it is ridiculous. Morgana’s is so powerful now that she has surpassed Alator, a catha, a bloody warrior and high priest, and was able to kill him with basically a snap of her fingers. Really, show runners. Really? Shakes head in disbelief. Kilgharrah is dying. Arthur is dead man walking, why don't they just throw Gaius in there and call it a day. This is getting ridiculous.

Pocketgal the sad thing I have realised is that we get an Arwen kiss every week ... I just wish it was in the show and not just the bloody opening credits.

leona21 Just a question. Did Camelot have their golden age in the three year jump from series 4 to 5? I remember Arthur saying things had been good for Camelot but we never got to see it on screen, which is a shame.

HumbleQueen You know, it could be that's the way they're playing it, Leona. Because we haven't seen it but are we to assume they've been in it when the season starts? That would be my guess since everything will soon be over.

Merlin is supposed to be the powerful wizard ever but now, it looks like Morgana have taken the throne in that dept, or that's what we see in each episode. She is progressing but what about Merlin? And how does he suppose to fight her in the last battle? dressed as dolma? I love Colin and i'm so sad to see that his character never been given enough potential to grow, be known as the sorcerer we were expecting. This series is called MERLIN for pete's sake! Not Dolma, Dragoon or even servant to king Arthur!!! It's Merlin. And in the beginning i still remember they said they will explore the youth, struggle and the rise of the young warlock. We saw the youth, struggle, struggle and more struggle. Never the rise! When i see how Merlin is looked upon by other druids, sorcerers because they believe he will bring balance in Camelot and etc, i know this is one guy we shouldn't be messing with! He is Merlin after all. But that's all ... just the name and nothing in content. Poor colin ... having to deal with these crap all this while ... Chris Nolan would have used you better!! I just wish ... i no longer hope ... i just wish, the end will be powerful and goes out with a bang. Not out in a whimper. PLEASE!!!!
