So I thought I should post this article here because no one ever visits the Punk spot :P I hope that's okay with the rest of you? I'm sure it is. Most of you seem to like punk so...here I go!
This article is just MY opinion. Don't take it so literal. And don't be hurt if you see one of your bands in a low position...or just not on here :P
10. A Day To Remember
In recent years punk seems to have shifted from skater to hardcore. (I'm more of a fan of skate punk myself) But out of all of the modern metalcore bands I have to say A Day To Remember is the best. So here they are at number 10.
9. Weezer
I'm sure you all know the song "Beverly Hills", right? That's not punk Weezer. The Weezer I'm speaking of is 90's Weezer. Weezer's first studio albums came out alongside most of Green Day's. Both bands grew in the same time period and weezer has even cited Green Day as a major influence. That being said...Weezer is more of a pop punk band.
8. The Ramones
Hey! Ho! Lets Go! You all know the song Blitzkrieg Bop, right? I'm sure you do xD Think of the Ramones as...the pioneers of punk rock. This band gained A LOT of popularity during the 70's. The Ramones are often cited as the "first" American punk rock band.
7. Panic! At The Disco
It's hard for me to find words to describe Panic. To me, Panic is very similar to MCR. Both bands release a different sound with every new album. A lot of people like a band to stay the same and keep the same style for years. Well...I'm not one of those people :P Panic is a band that likes to experiment with their sound. I would probably put them in the top 5 if they were all still together >_>
6. Simple Plan
Whaaaaat?! How could you place Simple Plan at #6? Chill out xD I have A TON of respect for this band. 1 of the best Canadian punk bands. Simple Plan hasn't lost any members since it's formation back in 1999. I like to think of Simple Plan as part of a punk rock trio of the new millenium ;)
5. Sum 41
Why are all of the best punk bands Canadian???? Oh well. Like Simple Plan, Sum 41 shares a similar sound. Sum 41's first album went platinum in The US, UK, and Canada. Wow lol If you've never heard of Sum 41 well try this song: link
4. My Chemical Romance
One of my all time favorite bands. Maybe MCR isn't punk all the way...But I don't care :P MCR is a band who isn't afraid to experiment. I cannot get enough of this band lol I think I have a disease xD As much as I love MCR...I don't think they've accomplished enough to earn the #1 spot on my list :P
3. Blink-182
Oh look! An American pop punk band! ahaha. I absolutely adore Blink-182. Sad songs, party songs, etc. They have it all. A great live band. They earn #3 on my list. :)
2. The Sex Pistols
British punk rock FTW!!! England is such a cool country (minus the riots) Coming all the way from London to the US and the rest of the world. The Sex Pistols started the punk rock revolution. It's kind of odd...They were only together for around two and a half years. Without The Sex Pistols, we would have no Green Day. So thank you John Lydon <3
1. GREEN DAY!!!
Yup. Here they are at #1. Probably the best mainstream artist (besides MCR) Green Day has been together for over 20 years. And to this day they still have millions of dedicated fans all around the world. According to Wikipedia...over 65 million records sold worldwide!!! :O GEEZUS!!! Haha well besides that...I also have a lot of memories with Green Day. They were my first band. And 20 years from now...I'll be rolling down the street in my Mercedes blasting Holiday at full volume.
So yeah that's pretty much it. Thanks for taking the time to read my article. :)
