Temperance Brennan ran down the stairs as fast as she could. She was never late. Today was different. It was almost 8:00, and she only had minutes to spare. Temperance threw herself into the car, and fumbled for her seatbelt. She turned the key in the ignition, and stomped on the brake.
When she walked into the Jeffersonian, she felt different. Alone. "What is today..." She muttered to herself. "Aw crap." She said. Today was Tempe's day off for 'Personal reasons' At least that is what she told Cam. The real reason was that she had too much work. She was tired. Sometimes, she wanted to break down and cry. She slowly walked to her office, her footsteps barley audible to her own ears.
When she stepped in, all the lights were off. She walked over to the light switch to turn them on.
"I knew I would find you here." A voice said. Temperance's head whipped behind her.
It was Booth.
She was happy he was here, but a trifle shocked. Why would he be here? In her office? "Umm... Why are you here?" Bones asked, worry in her voice.
"I wanted to ask you something." He admitted in a small voice.
"What?" She asked.
"Uh... I want you to go to dinner with me. I was lonley, and had nothing to do. And I knew I would find you here." He said swiftly. Bones looked at him, shocked. "Wait. Is this a... date?" She said, looking into his eyes. Booth shrugged his shoulders. "Do you want it to be a date?" He asked, sarcasm in his voice.
"Umm... sure?" Bones said. Her voice shot up about 3 octaves. Then she went totally blank. Booth wanted to go out with her. She said yes.
What if...
He wanted her. As in... girlfriend want? No. They were partners for crying out loud! He never wanted her.
But... did he?
What if...?
