Whew! Season 2 is finally at it's end, and what a season it's been! We've had to deal with Damon's constant whining, stalking, and obsession over Elena, AND we had to watch said woman basically CHEAT on her boyfriend in every way POSSIBLE besides actually doing the deed. But this isn't all that's happened people! I know it's easy to forget when all you hear is an influx of Delena centered remarks for a good three weeks, but SO much more has happened this season! Katherine's return, Vampire Caroline, Werewolf Tyler, Broken up Catt, Forwood, back together Catt, Mason, Rose, the Originals! SO much has happened, and I haven't even gotten started on our favorite vampire and his witch!
Bonnie has grown SO much this season! Power-wise she's gone from a feather floating, candle lighting, fake curse breaker, fire stopping witch, to a fire STARTING, aneurysm giving, weather controlling, power channeling, soul preserving, ORIGINAL killing, AMAZING force of nature! ANND Bonnie has finally found her place in the grand scheme of things. She is no longer OUTSIDE of the loop of information and character inclusion. In fact, she's the CLOSEST to the core 3 of the show! Bonnie is VERY much a part of ALL the action, and season 2 has helped her realize that this is where she belongs! It's given people a chance to learn a little bit more about her and find common ground with her, and the fact that she didn't know quite where she belonged, and felt alone. BUT NOT ANYMORE! :D Season 2 has also given us a chance to see Miss Bennett romantically involved with someone! Bonnie is no longer alone, but with this nice, slightly younger guy who thinks the world of her, and cares so very much for her. Beremy embodies innocence, and highlights Bonnie's innocence and purity. It's been a joy to watch, and to watch Bonnie have this special someone she can confide in, trust, and allow herself to care for. They're such an amazing contrast to Bamon and something I feel will only highlight Bonnie and Damon, once they're finally together, because they're night and day relationships. One pure and innocent, one naughty and sexy. Beremy is the prep-work for Bamon!
So on Bonnie's side we have a HUGE growth of power, some character growth and revealing, Bonnie's first on-screen romance, and most importantly her new acclaimed sense of purpose and acceptance for who she is and who (not what) the people around her are. She's grown A LOT, but she's not alone! I know it's hard to see, especially with the way he's been acting as of late, but Damon has grown ( though admittedly not a lot) as well. He learned to empathize and care with both Sheriff Forbes and Rose. And he finally got over his obsession with Katherine...which would've been GREAT had he not merely switched his obsession onto Elena full force! Which is why is growth in season 2 basically ends here. Elena stifled it with her mixed signals and leading him on so that he only cared for the Sheriff and Rose, only got over his love for Katherine, before losing his freaking mind and growing more whinier, desperate, violent, jealous, possessive, and psychotic.
BUT, to finally get to the IMPORTANT part...aside from some pretty cool side plot lines and character development, and Bonnie and Damon growth, BAMON has grown drastically!! At the start of season 2, Bonnie wanted to KILL Damon, and I'm sure the feeling was mutual! Bamon wanted to hurt one another and cause each other pain!! BUT they were FORCED to work together COUNTLESS amounts of times: “Plan B, ” “Masquerade,” “Sacrifice,” “The Last Dance,” and “The Sun also Rises!” And Bonnie even got a SECOND “Thank you” out of Mr. Salvatore, successfully continuing to be the ONLY one he EVER thanks sincerely besides doppelganger! By the time “The Sacrifice” aired Bonnie had been upgraded to a “semi-competent” witch in Damon's eyes, and this is not where it stops! Bonnie and Damon have grown to respect one another this season! It's seen in the way Damon offers to bury Luka and refrains from joking further on the warlock at Bonnie's mere admonition. It's seen in the way she refrains from scolding him for forcing her best friend blood and merely works to right his mistake. And it's seen in the way the two team up together, and the faith he puts in the witch and her abilities. He not only respects Bonnie now, but he TRUSTS her, and this is the biggest change of all! The two have become STRONG allies, someone he views as an EQUAL (Which is just really TOO incredible), and someone he respects. Bamon has become frenemies, maybe even friends, and it's a HUGE development! The two have come SO far in season 2, and with little scenes at that! But it's an IMPROVEMENT from season 1, and it's only gonna get better!!
After reading all of this, how can you look back on season 2 and call it a bust?! I mean sure it's had it's Delena crap, but it's had SO many good moments!! How can you count out Rose, Vampire Caroline, Forwood, Catt?! How can you forget about all of them?! How can you forget about the EPIC Bamon teamups?! Make no mistake, season 2 has been a GREAT one! And we KNEW we had to suffer through Delena to get to Bamon, so why aren't we REJOICING?! That's my question!! We KNEW this was going to happen, we WANTED it to happen!!! We should be throwing a CELEBRATION!!! There's a strong possibility that they will NOT draw Delena out any longer!! That makes me want to DANCE! Yes it means we'll have to suffer through the travesty of it all, but our suffering will get us closer to BAMON! I for one, want it to happen! It's a GOOD thing people!
So yes, I'm excited about tomorrow's episode! It may not be filled with Bamon goodness, but it'll still be good! Bonnie's IN it!! Probably A LOT!!! Definitely more than last year!!! And I'm SO happy about that! That's all I need really! So yeah, get a barf bag, get ready to close your eyes in disgust and groan in frustration! Delena's happening soon! BUT IT GETS US CLOSER TO BAMON!!! We can't get so caught up in our ship that we don't enjoy the show! It's too good for that! So watch with an open mind, and you never know, they might surprise us in a GOOD way! Either way, enjoy the episode, knowing that we KNEW we were going to have to wait for Bamon, so we shouldn't suddenly act like we didn't! That's it for now!
