It sounds like a great book

Oh it is. It's a beautiful story and very a sad one at that.

it was so many years ago that I don't remember at all, only the sad ending, but not clearly.

I have the entire collection of Hans Christian Andersen. Some of his fairytales are just plain weird, and reading the contents... Only a few of them are actually famous. TLM is probably one of my favourites of his. I love the original version. I also have another fairytale book where TLM goes to the surface and is served up to the prince on a plate, but we're not going to go into that.

That poor Little mermaid

I LOVE the original story!

@kirara: It was a really weird fairytale book. xD
Basically, she goes to the surface and visits a restaurant (I don't know how she did that with a tail, tbh) and the chef thinks she's a fish and he serves her under one of those big silver platters to the prince and she escapes with all the little fishies and learns the lesson that humans are evil motherfuckers or something to that effect.

So-so, it's ok

this is sooo much better than disney's version

I like Disneys Version better. The Little Mermaid was a very sad story, the base of it is the same. But....**SPOILER** she has to kill the prince in the end and never returns to the water but dies. And the myth is that she became seafoam. It still had her, her dad, her sisters and an evil sea witch who took her voice and of course this land prince that she saw from a far and fell for.

It was written by Hans Christian Anderson who is possibly my relative
