Tea time.
My brothers are goofing off, my mother is smiling at them, and I am sitting at the table.
"You put a hole in my soccer ball?" Carlos asked, in a voice that said, 'I'm gonna punch you so hard in the-oh, calm down, I'm just kidding..'.
"It was all in the name of magic!" Jose replied, and the two of them are laughing again.
"You two are idiots." I muttered.
"And you're boring as hell!" My brothers laughed again, Carlos out of amusement, and Jose out of the sense that he is pissing me off.
Haven't I been through enough? Being nearly killed by the girl I love and hate at the same time, dealing with being shunned for a month then FINALLY being forgiven, but still having no friends except my former teammates...
"We were just teasing you," Carlos smiled at me. "You know we love you."
"Even if you being on that show was the worst thing that ever happened to our family." Jose added.
"Jose!"
"And now we get mobbed by fangirls, like every day."
"Jose!!"
"And Wal-Mart won't let us in anymore, I mean, who needs groceries?"
"God damnit, Jose, stop it!!"
"It isn't that bad, toro," Mom told me. "Although that prize money could have helped."
"I know..."
"Don't say you're sorry, Al, because sorry won't fix us now!" Jose just keeps mocking me, making these retarded faces that used to scare me as a kid, but piss me off now.
I slam my hands on the table. "Look, you don't have to love me anymore, okay?! You don't have to even like me! I bet you stopped caring ages ago, didn't you?! I come here to unwind from all the crap I'm going through back in Gallagher, and what do I get?! 'OMG, you're a loser because you lost TDWT!' You just love rubbing it in my face, don't you?! Well, you can keep rubbing it in for all I care, because I DON'T! Because all I am to you is your weak, useless, worthless dolt of a son!"
I ran off, tears escaping from my eyes.
If my own family hates me because of a stupid show, that's just fine with me.
Maybe I'm just another one of thosee worthless, useless people.
Maybe I'll never be worth anything.
