Yes, yes it is.
Yes, yes it is.
As some of you may know, I often suffer from grammar-induced rage blackouts. These can be triggered by anything from a misplaced apostrophe to the incorrect usage of "your" and "you're". So, I decided to do something about it.. mostly because I'm afraid the next dangling modifier I come across might send me spiraling into a violent rampage the likes of which have never been seen.

I understand that a lot of Fanpoppers are not native English speakers, and thus might not have as good a hold on our sometimes ridiculously complicated grammatical rules. Obviously, I can't fault them for their mistakes. Still, hopefully this little guide will help them as well as the rest of you, who should just plain know better. :)

I give you:
"The Top 5 Grammatical Errors That Make Bliss
Want to Tear Her Hair Out and Scream Like a Banshee"

1. The Misplaced Apostrophe
The most heinous and widespread of all grammatical mistakes. You can't go nimbly bimbly throwing apostrophes around whenever you see an "s". Here's how to use them correctly:

Apostrophes are used most commonly in two cases:
a) To signify a missing letter, as in the case of contractions like can't for cannot, or in abbreviations like gov't for government
b) to signify a possessive, such as "Nikita is Janie's cat" meaning that the cat belongs to Janie.

Under NO circumstances should an apostrophe be used to signify a plural! The following sentences are all incorrect:
"Apple's $0.29/lbs"
"The Nazi's were evil"
"I wish I knew how to properly use apostrophe's"

Here is a quote from an excellent link on apostrophes:
"If in doubt it is better to leave an apostrophe out than to put it in. This is because if you leave it out incorrectly this will be put down either to an oversight or to an affinity with the views of George Bernard Shaw [who thought them unneccesary]. On the other hand, if you put it in incorrectly this will be attributed (rightly) to ignorance."

2. Your vs. You're
Apparently, it's necessary to point out that these are not interchangeable. They actually mean completely different things.

You're is the contracted form (like an abbreviation) of "You are".
- As in, "You're a moron".

Your is a possessive pronoun. It is used to signify when something belongs to someone other than yourself.
- As in, "Your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries"

seriously.
seriously.
3. Their, There, or They're
Their misuse is widespread, but there is hope; they're not as tricky as they seem.

Their is a possessive pronoun meaning "pertaining to or belonging to them"
- "It was their horrible spelling that caused her brain to explode"

There is an abverb meaning "that location" which is farther away than here.
- "Bliss is over there making out with John Krazinski"

They're is a contraction of "They are".
- "Dwangela rocks my world, they're totally meant to be together"

4. Affect vs. Effect
This is not a case of lazy American spelling. You cannot simply choose at random whether to start this word with an "a" or an "e". Again, these words mean different things.

Affect is a verb that has two common meanings:
a) "to influence"
- as in, "Bad grammar may negatively affect your sex life"
b) "to act in a way that you don't feel"
- as in, "She affected an air of innocence".

Effect is a noun that most often signifies "a result"
- as in, "I drank 7 tequila shooters last night and I'm definitely feeling the effects this morning".

5. It's and Its
Another confusing contraction.

Its is a possessive pronoun meaning "pertaining to or belonging to it".
- "I love that cat, its purr is so melodic" (the purr "belongs" to the cat).

It's is a contraction of "It is".
- "Good grammar: it's sexy!"

Lastly, there is absolutely, positively no such word as its'!

So, there you have it. I really hope this kicks some bad grammatical habits in the butt. If not wanting to look like a moron isn't enough incentive, then do it for me. The next time you start to type "Bliss write's awesome article's", stop and think of me throwing my laptop across the room in a fit of uncontrollable rage, and refer back to this guide.

- as a sidenote, these images are from the "Good Grammar is Hot" group on Facebook.
I'm not afraid of you, Ghost!
I'm not afraid of you, Ghost!
So I was hanging out on my computer this evening, watching some videos and browsing on Fanpop, when I noticed something that disturbed me. In not one, but two different spots. I discovered several examples of what I believe to be "Ghost Accounts".

"Ghost Accounts" are what I'm calling additional accounts created by an already existing Fanpop member to skew the results of a pick or an argument in their favor. I have read things posted by other Fanpoppers suggesting their existence in the past, but hadn't knowingly spotted any for myself. Tonight I believe I spotted three different people doing...

I did it again.

I accidentally hit the "start chat" tab again.

And couldn't remember how make it go away.

I've had this problem a few times before and have to re-learn it every time.

For some reason, I'm always under the impression that the solution lies under my profile settings.

It does not.

So now there is an article to remind me, and anyone else who needs it, how to get rid of this dang thang.

NOOOOOO
NOOOOOO

Step 1: Under the "contacts" tab, click "I am online." The words, not the pencil. If you click the pencil, it will complicate things and you'll have to reload the page.

LET ME OUT
LET ME OUT

Step 2: Click "Log out."

Anddd we're back to normal. Carry on.
Anddd we're back to normal. Carry on.

It's not the most obvious way out, but it's easy once you finally remember how to do it, so I hope this helps cut down on some frustration. (If not for you, at least for me next time I accidentally open it and frantically search for a solution. =P)
Yeah, I know this is kinda lame, but this is all I could think up! :'(

Just go to an article, (or look the person who you want to message up) and click their name near the top. Fanpop will show you their profile page and scroll down until you find the "Message" tab. Click it and ...voila!

Just type your message and send it. If they message you back, your inbox will tell you! Try it!

Sorry if this was lame! :(

But please remember to

Have you noticed that people on this site add lots and lots of things and gain load's of fans then out of nowhere are never adding again or only add now and then. Look through your fan list and see who is still adding and praise them for there loyalty and praise even more or even prop them for their work, they all deserve it.

By the way this is my first soapbox

Ok, I usually don't make user guides but this one needs to be made. I have seen a lot of picks and a lot of them are boring or annoying. Here is a list of steps to help you out.

1. Try to have more than three answers if possible. If the question is "Who should Jim be with?" Put, Karen and Pam, and then put an answer like neither or Katy.

2.Always have pictures for the question if it isn't a yes, no, or maybe question. Pictures bring in more fans and make the picks more interesting.

3. Try to ask questions that people haven't already asked and questions that people will be interested in. Don't make it boring.

Now these are the three golden steps to making a good, quality pick on fanpop. If you feel I need to add anything, then please leave it in the comments.

I have a pet peeve.

As a writer, I have found my stuff posted on other websites without my permission, and sometimes without so much as a mention that it was MY article... or a link back to the original. This ticks me off, and it is illegal to do so.

I have not come across this on Fanpop with articles yet, but I have seen it numerous times on images.

Some of the people I adore the most are even doing it. I have to assume innocence here and figure some folks just don't know... so I'ma tell ya ;)

Credit. Credit. Credit. The option to add the photo credit when you submit an image is there for a reason....

I'm guessing a lot of people have all ready have found this problem but if you don't understand then it's like this:
One day I decided to create a new club of something that didn't exist as a club yet but I couldn't find the 'Create a club' button. Trust me I looked high and low for the thing but couldn't find it. When I logged out of my account at last there I saw it, the 'Create a club button' so when I clicked on it they of course asked me to sign back in but when I did I was the same position I was in before clicking.
For some people this problem don't seem to happen but for people like me who want to create clubs but can't because the button is unavailable well it's frustrating. I've been looking abound for some kind of answer but the only thing that came up was a link link
this only leads to you having to sign in again. I don't know if it's the signing in thing that's the problem but it really shouldn't be.
Please fix this problem Fanpop!

Why are keywords so important?
Why are keywords so important?
What are keywords?

Why should I use them?

How can keywords help me?

Keywords are tags that you place on the content you submit to Fanpop so that other fans can find it. You don't need to use a lot of them, just the relevant ones. You'll want to use words that describe what's in the content. Who is in it, what episode it's from, etc.

Example:
supernatural, dean, 4x18, the monster at the end of this book
supernatural, dean, 4x18, the monster at the end of this book

This example is very simple. It's an icon from the show Supernatural [keyword], the subject is Dean [keyword], it's from episode 4x18 [keyword] 'The Monster at the End of This Book' [keyword]....

Please don't hate me. I know I shouldn't be wasting an article space writing this. I mean many people rated tp1992's article low, but I wanted to take out my fustrations somewhere.
I just noticed today that in one of my favourite spots I am no longer number 1. I wouldn't be so bothered if it weren't for this:

Well guys, I joined this club a long time ago, but I never felt the need to poll or write an article here. This article is important right now. And if you are reading, can you write in the comments after you read what I can do?

I had such a habit until now, I had discovered a few series on Netflix and watched them periodically, but I started to get bored. Of course they were all great shows, especially H20, but I needed something new. Moreover, our school gave a one-week vacation so I thought this would be my chance. And I discovered an incredibly beautiful series, "Scaredy Cats." The drama...

Taking a leaf from Kate who is kicking annoying Fanpoppers, THETACOMAN now makes a guide for trolls-
Idiota Piticus, aka Self-Pity troll. This troll is rather annoying. Its really hard to tell if this troll has a problem, or is just complaining. Disgusting how much attention they pay themselves.
Danger- low. All trolls have some level of danger. While they may fly off at you for no absolute reason, self pity usually stops them from causing any real trouble.
Idiota Zelos aka Overzelous troll. This troll often uses religion (or lack thereof) as a sheild for their hate. Citing holy books and/or specific...

Has any one ever told that you are obessed with this show?

Well, I have cuz I have pictures on my computer, seasons of the show, and some soundtracks of the show. See a lot of people can be judgemental sometimes. Now, that can be annoying.

When I have some my best friends sleep over my house, they see a lot of stuff from my favorite shows. And they would say wow you really love that show.

See, I have all seasons of two shows that I love which is Buffy The Vampire Slayer & Xena The Warrior Princess. Then my friends would judge on some things that I have in my room that are from thoses two tv...
