A poem based off of the Evanescence song Like you. I'm not copying the song, but I did listen to the song today and it inspired me, so I felt like writing this!*

My dearest friend
I can't believe it's true
I want to be like you

There's room enough inside for two
As I feel broken and dead inside without you
Oh how I long to be like you

The games as children we used to play
The years of adolescence we went through
The problems and solutions that we have had
Oh how I long to be like you

This wall between us
Separating us
Can you see me like I can see you?

Revenge on my mind
To plot against whoever did this to you
My fiance' saved me not you

I climb the tallest oldest building
I long to fall to be like you
My fiance' stops me and holds me
Once again he saved me instead of you

He tells me life is precious and one day I will see you
He says I have a lot to live for
A lot of things to experience
He tells me this as I thought of you
Oh how I long to be like you

Days and years go by
I have lived and not thought of death
I have told my children about you
As they grew I told them my feelings
Of how I wanted to be like you

Years go by, years go by
I have gotten much older
One question is and still is
Is there still room inside for two?
Because I have always longed to be like you
Even in life and death
Oh how I always longed to be like you.
