*SPOILERS FOR LAST 4 EPISODES OF SEASON 5*
EDIT: I just want to make it clear that this is just one perspective on the recent events in the show. I do not think that this theory is any better or any worse than other interpretations. This is merely me sharing some connections that I have made from a Hameron perspective. As most of you know, I am both a Hameron AND a Huddy shipper, so I appreciate theories from both points of view. I personally believe that both Huddy and Hameron theories are plausible. This article is in no way intended to discredit any Huddy theory or the Huddy relationship. It is merely a Hameron-based theory.
I just thought I would share my crazy little theory with y'all.
Ok, so House seems to want to be with Cuddy, according to his hallucinatory experiences. BUT, if we follow the line of thinking that I propose link, my Hameron theory could be plausible. So here it is:
House began hallucinating in the episode 'Saviors'. In this episode, House tries to figure out why Cameron is hanging around him so much, with his first theory being that she is still in love with him. However, he discovers that Cameron is actually trying to avoid Chase because she knows that Chase is going to ask her to marry him. He then helps her to sort out her feelings, because, I believe, he cares for her and wants her to be happy. But, as we see at the end of the episode, he begins to hallucinate.
Now, he starts hallucinating Amber. Amber was another woman that House may have had feelings for, if we consider the dream he had in 'Wilson's Heart' when Amber was sitting on his lap. Is it a coincidence that he starts hallucinating another forbidden love on the same day that Cameron is officially committed to another man? Perhaps. Perhaps not.
Moving into 'House Divided', House's hallucinations intensify as he plans Chase's bachelor party. And, most significantly, House's subconscious attempts to kill Chase. House says that he does not want Cameron, and I think something important happens here. I think this is when he transfers his feelings for Cameron onto Cuddy. That is, he realises that his actions could have hurt Chase and Cameron, so he represses those feelings. If we skip ahead a little to 'Under My Skin', House talks about how if he takes the Vicodin during his detox, then de doesn't deserve to be with Cuddy. I think when House tried to hurt Chase, he may have thought that he didn't deserve Cameron because he was trying to screw up her happiness.
So, in 'Under My Skin', we saw House hallucinating detoxing and sleeping with Cuddy (although we didn't know it was a hallucination at that point). This, I think, is where we see the transference of House's feelings for Cameron onto Cuddy. In the past, we have seen Cameron taking care of House, and House accepting that care from her. In 'Under My Skin', he is no longer able to turn to Cameron, because she is with Chase, so he turns to Cuddy instead. And as we see, he lets her take care of him and then they sleep together. But real, according to this theory, House wanted to do this with Cameron.
'Both Sides Now' really consolidates this theory for me. Obviously, in this episode we see House's psyche break completely, while we also see Chase and Cameron grow stronger together and get married. House is also rejected by Cuddy, both personally and professionally. If we take the view that House was transferring his feelings for Cameron onto Cuddy, then effectively Cuddy's rejection is a double Cameron rejection. That is, it is set in stone that House and Cameron can never be together, and the Chase/Cameron wedding also symbolises that. This is devastating to House, as it confirms in his mind that he is not worthy of Cameron's love.
So, that is my Hameron-based theory about the last few episodes of season 5. I have so many theories, and some of them contradict. But I really like this Hameron theory. Feel free to argue with me!
