Rana let out another groan as she tried to make herself comfortable, she looked up to the dark ceiling, and sighed. She was in the last couple of weeks of her pregnancy and she was wishing more than anything for the little one to make its grand entrance into the world. She looked to the person beside her and saw him still dead asleep, his mouth wide open and snores escaping loudly. Rana sighed again and quickly pushed the covers away from her before jumping out of bed and waddling downstairs.
She grabbed a carrot from the fridge and made her way to the couch in the lounge room. She grabbed the wool blanket from the end of the couch and situated herself in a semi comfortable position and tried to relax herself. She just sat in the dark, rubbing soothing circles on her stomach thinking about how in just a few weeks her and Jasper’s life will become more hectic and wonderful. She still couldn’t believe after all these years of being together that her and Jasper were still very much in love and happy. She was so deep in thought that she didn’t notice Jasper come up and sit next to her.
“You alright?” He asked, making her jump a little. He chuckled “Sorry beautiful.”
Rana smiled and leaned her head onto is shoulder.
“It’s alright.” She said. He placed his arm around her and they watched as the rain fell down outside the window.
“We are going to make good parents right?” Rana asks, worry and fear creeping into her voice. Jasper frowned, he didn’t know why she was doubting herself, she was one of the most selfless and beautiful souls he has ever met.
He made sure she was facing him before cupping her cheek in his hand.
“Rana, my beautiful girl. You will be the most amazing mother. You have such a kind nature and any child would be lucky to have you in their life. Stop doubting yourself, it will be hard but you and me…we can just about do anything and succeed. As long as we do it together.” Rana couldn’t help but smile as Jasper spoke. He always knew how to make her feel better and always knew the best and easiest way to make her smile. She couldn’t wait to start her family with Jasper.
3 weeks later.
Rana woke to the soft voice of her husband, she didn’t know how long she had been asleep for, but she knew that as soon as she got a peak at her new baby, before exhaustion took over and she crashed. She opened her eyes and saw Jasper walking around with their new baby, their little baby girl.
“So when mummy wakes up she is going to want to hold you and never let go, because now little one you have become the apple of our eyes and the centre of our world, and we will always love you. Mum thinks she is the heart and soul of me…but now she has to share that with you. And I will always love you. My sweet Sophia”
Rana didn’t mean to but she let out a little sigh, making Jasper turn around. He smiled wide and made his way over to her.
“Babe, meet our daughter.” Jasper passed Sophia down to her arms, and Rana couldn’t help but let out a shaky laugh.
“Hi Sophia, I am your mum. I promise that I will always look after you. I love you so much already.” Jasper sat on the edge of the bed and put his arm around Rana, who leaned her head against his arm. They looked at Sophia as she soundly slept and Rana whispered to Jasper.
“You know what, we are going to be fine.” And jasper smiled leaning down to kiss his wife’s temples.
