Ever Tuesday night, millions of kids tune in to wathc Michelle make everyone double up with laughter. In fact, Michelle's twice as funny and twice as cute as any of the other Tanner kids. Why? The secret is that the part of Michelle Tanner is played by identical twins Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. Mary Kate and Ashley have played the role of Michelle for the past four years. Since Michelle is supposed to be under six years old, the actress who plays her part must be about the same age. But by law, children under the age of six can only work for six hours a day. Sometimes it takes longer than six hours a day to film one show. So the people who make the TV show hired identical twins to share the work. Mary Kate and Ashley are perfect for the job. The sisters may only be five years old but they are hard-working actresses. When Full House is being filmed, both girls spend a lot of time on the set learning their lines. Their teacher, Adria Later, helps them. Adria is also the person who decides which twin gets to say "No way, jose," and which twin gets to eat the ice cream in the scene. Even though all the actors try hard to do their best, sometimes someone makes a mistake. Even the grown-ups forget their lines! But Ashley and Mary Kate told HOT DOG that everyone on Full House is so nice that no one gets mad. Everyone jokes around and they just do the scene over untill they get it right. Besides studying their lines, the girls have to do their schoolwork, too! The girls are in kindergarten now. They practice writing the letters of the alphabet and numbers, and work on a computer. They even get homework! What's the twins' favorite part of school? Drawing! Mary Kate and Ashley work hard but they have a lot of fun, too. When they are waiting their turn to act, they like to play with the other kid stars on Full House. Ashley likes to spend time with Jodie Sweetin, who plays Stephanie. She also likes to play house and school. Mary Kate reads books and plays card games like Go Fish and Old Maid. Sometimes even the grown-ups join the fun. Both girls love to sing along with John Stamos, who plays Uncle Jesse, when he sings a Beach Boys song. Sometimes John lets Mary Kate play the drums! But both twins think the funniest person on the show is Dave Coulier, who plays Joey! He keeps everyone laughing by doing funny voices. Mary Kate loves Mr. Woodchuck. "It's the best!" she says. For two little girls, Ashley and Mary Kate are big stars. When they go out with their real mom and dad, their fans stop them in the street and ask for their autographs! The girls don't mind.
