End of Chapter 27
I ate so fast that I barely tasted it, but what I did taste was good! I noticed that Michael had sat down to eat, but somehow finished before I did. I finished eating and watched him curiously as he banked the coals to the side before setting the pot with oatmeal in the cooling coals. I set my plate on the floor as I climbed into the make shift cot, my head falling onto the pillow before I knew what was happening.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Keeping the oatmeal warm for breakfast..then'll we'll have breakfast." He said as he stirred it again before walking over to stand next to my bed. "You comfy?"
"Yes." I said as I yawned.
He laughed as he leaned down and kissed my cheek before he went over to his cot, climbing in as he started to yawn.
"Goodnight Maija." He said as he winked at me.
"Goodnight Michael." I said as I closed my eyes, my words coming out like mush..because of physical and emotional exhaustion.
Chapter 28
I fully expected a visit from my mother, but was shocked when my 'aunt' Celest appeared in my dreams. As she walked over to me I noticed the long black dress that she was wearing, it seemed to hug her body...yet billowed in a wind that I did not feel. Her hair was shining in the moonlight, the color was pure silver, with shades of what looked light white and gold.
"Maija," She sighed my name.
"Celest?" I asked as I turned to face her completely.
"Young one, you are in much danger. I was told not to contact you, but you need to know." She said, arguing with herself.
"Have to know what?"
"Maija," She said as she stepped close, her arms wrapping around me in a hug. "Do not trust anyone other then the young boy. We've seen that you will meet people in the next few days, please don't trust them."
The tone of her voice caused goose bumps to cover my arms and a chill went through my entire body. I knew from her tone that there was more, but for some reason I knew that she wouldn't say anything else.
"I promise." I said softly. I opened my mouth to ask more, but she shook her head and placed one hand on my shoulder as she stepped back.
"Maija, please be safe. It all depends on you. I have to go now, Dale has found me." She said as she faded before my eyes. I went to look around, but the entire forest seemed to change, the colors going almost black before my eyes.
It felt like there were a million eyes watching me, my skin crawling as I felt someone or something move closer...to the edge of the woods. I knew I had to go...but how did I get out of here? I spun in a circles as I freaked out , I knew that whatever was out there wanted to hurt me..and wanted that more then anything, and because of that I had to get out.
The next thing I knew I was being shook, and shook hard. I snapped my eyes open and was surprised when I found Micheal's concerned face mere inches from mine.
"Maija!" He yelled, shaking my shoulders so hard my head rolled from side to side.
"Ow." I said as he scooted back a bit on the bed. "What are you doing?"
"Maija!!!" He said as he reached out and hugged me tight against his chest.
"Hi." I said, a bit surprised by his reaction. "Why were you yelling at me?" I asked, still confused.
"You fell asleep almost instantly...and I did too, then you started screaming. Your screams were so loud and so terrified," He said as he shivered..which made me feel bad because I had obviously scared him. "I couldn't get you to wake up." He whispered, his voice cracking slightly.
"I'm sorry." I said, which made him laugh.
"Where you dreaming?" He asked as he repositioned himself so that he was holding me against his chest.
"Yeah..something like that." I said as I shivered, and not from the cold.
"Let me bank the fire." He said as he went to move, but my arms went down on either side, not letting him move.
"Nope, I'm good." I said as I laughed and got comfortable against his chest.
"Me too," He said as he hugged me against him. "Do you want to talk about it?" He asked as he yawned, doing his best to cover it and look cool.
"Could we talk about it tomorrow?" I asked as I closed my eyes and focused on his heart beat, which instantly made me tired again.
"Of course." He sighed as he kissed the top of my head.
"Michael?" I said as I yawned.
"Yes."
"Thank You."
"Anytime." He said as he kissed my head again. "Let's sleep, we should go early." He said as he hugged me tightly, which was the last thing I knew before the sun came up.

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
'Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!'
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood a while in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One two! One two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
'And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
Oh frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.
