The next morning, Laura reluctantly got up and went to her music class. She enjoyed the class very much, but after what happened the night before, she couldn't really enjoy anything. Ian noticed her looking sad. He asked, "Are you all right?" She said, "I'm fine." He said, "Your voice sounds funny. Have you been crying?" She said, "No, it's allergies." Laura had never felt so dirty. She lied to her friend. She didn't have any allergies. When she and Ian had lunch together, Ian said, "Laura, you have been quiet all day. Are you sure you're all right?" She burst into tears. He asked, "What's wrong?" She said, "Kurt dumped me for another girl. You'll never guess who." Ian said, "Natalie." Laura said, "Yeah. How did you know?" He said, "Laura, Mel and I tried to warn you." She said, "I should have listened to you two. Before he hung up, he insulted my love for music. He sneered that I love it because it saved me from self-harm." Ian said, "Laura, if he's the type who does that, then he's not someone you should cry over." She said, "But it hurts so much." He hugged her and said, "I know it hurts, but it won't last forever." She asked, "How do you know, Ian?" He said, "I was in a relationship once, too. We broke up, and it did hurt for a while, but things got better with time." Laura asked, "Will you help me through this?" He said, "Of course, Laura." They later told Mel what happened, and she agreed to help Laura get over her heartache.
