Lilian had returned home after a bad day at school. She sat by her window, reflecting on what happened. She was walking to her history class, minding her own business. Suddenly, Biff and his two followers got in the way. "Going somewhere?" Biff remarked. Lilian said, "Just to my history class. Now, can you please get out of my way?" One of Biff's followers said, "We could, but that doesn't mean we will." She tried to go the other way, but they only followed. Biff said, "We're not letting you off easy, shredder." Just then, a voice was heard. It said, "She has a name, Biff. Her name is Lilian." Biff said, "Gideon! Stay out of this!" Gideon said, "I will not. Now, get out of here!" Biff and his followers were big, but Gideon was bigger. Biff and his followers ran off. Gideon then turned to Lilian and asked, "Are you okay?" She said, "Yeah." He said, "I'm sorry to say this, but you're going to have to start standing up for yourself." She lifted her glasses and eyed him curiously. "What do you mean?" she asked. He said, "Pretty soon, I'm not going to be here to stand up for you. I'm moving." Not only was Lilian bullied, but she learned that her only friend was moving. He was the only person, other than her aunt and uncle, who did not judge her for the fact that she practiced self-harm. There were times she had to fight herself not to cut, and this was one of those times. She picked up her personal notebook and her guitar and began to write a song. She did not realize that her aunt was listening on the other side of the door. Her aunt came in and said, "That's an awfully sad song." Lilian said, "I just felt like writing it." Her aunt said, "There are tears in your eyes. What's wrong?" Lilian said, "I found out today that Gideon is moving." Her aunt said, "You two can still keep in touch." Lilian said, "It won't be the same. He was my only friend." Her aunt said, "Don't worry, dear. You can still make friends." This made Lilian feel slightly better, but she was beginning to have doubts about being able to make friends.
