One evening, when the members of The Devil Wants Peace were in Massachusetts, they were backstage preparing for their concert. Just then, they were informed that someone named Grace wanted to see them. John said, "Let her in." Grace came in, and she got hugs from each band member. "What brings you all the way to Massachusetts?" Stan asked. Grace said, "Well, I've actually been touring colleges that offer music, and I was thinking that I'd like to be in one of the New England states." John said, "To each is own, but I have to ask. What's so special about New England, Grace?" She said, "I really like the weather here, and I like that Massachusetts is a progressive state." After chatting for a while, Grace said, "Well, I have to get going." Peter said, "Hold on, Grace. Why don't you play on stage with us?" She said, "Peter, I'm not really part of the band. I just thought I'd drop by to say hello while you happened to be here." Stan said, "It won't bother us any. Besides, you said you want to be a musician, didn't you?" She said, "Yes, but, there's one problem." John said, "Oh, there's no problem at all. If you want to be a successful musician, you have to play in front of an audience." Grace frowned. "I don't have my guitar with me." she said. Allen said, "Don't worry, Grace. You can borrow one of mine." She said, "Really?" John said, "We're famous rock stars. We have several guitars, you know." Grace performed with The Devil Wants Peace. The audience loved the performance. After the show, John said, "Grace, you're going to be a great musician." She said, "You really think so?" He said, "I know so." Peter said, "John's right, love. You gave a wonderful performance." Allen said, "Yeah. You're a natural on the stage." Grace smiled and said, "Thanks for inviting me to perform with you." Once again, she got hugs from each band member. Her hug from John was the longest. She said, "I love you, John." He said, "I love you, too, Grace." That night, John, Allen, Peter, and Stan went to the hotel feeling tired, but satisfied. John roomed with Allen that night. Allen said, "I'm glad we invited Grace to perform with us." John said, "I'm glad for that, too." He had trouble falling asleep. The room seemed cold to him. He snuggled deeper into the covers. Pretty soon, he was soothed by the sound of Allen's soft breathing, and fell asleep.
