Hollywood’s hottest and most popular teen queens are butting heads - even if they are denying it to the press. Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez are Disney Channel’s moneymakers. Beautiful, talented, and famous, it’s no wonder that they are the idols of millions of girls.
It’s kind of funny, because in Miley’s TV show, Hannah Montana, Selena has guest-starred as Miley’s rival. Personally, I like them both, but Miley’s actions lead me to believe that there is hatred among the two and Miley is definitely the catty and immature one.
Selena Gomez hosts a show on YouTube with best friend Demi Lovato (Camp Rock). The show is pretty good, actually. I’ve seen a couple of episodes, and they are pretty funny. I think it’s a nice way to keep up with fans. It’s very personal and it confirms to me that some teen stars may actually be well rounded and not stuck-up.
Selena and Demi did an episode a while ago in which Selena showed off her new Power Rangers shirt and Demi showed that she fixed the gap in her teeth. The show was fun and showed the girls as “real” teenagers instead of some dolled-up celebrities.
On July 19th, Miley and friend Mandy Jiroux (who really rubs me the wrong way for some reason; I don’t know why) released their own YouTube “parody” of the Selena and Demi show. Miley makes fun of the shirt and Demi’s new teeth. Too be honest, the girls were acting like drunken idiots (I doubt they were stupid enough to release a video in which they were actually drunk) and totally lost my respect. The video was rude and mean-spirited.
So now, Miss Cyrus has publicly apologized to Miss Gomez. She justified herself by saying, “They were being funny on their show, and [as] Elvis says, 'Imitation is the greatest form of flattery,' so we were, like, imitating them. You know, like, being funny.” I don’t buy it at all. Seems very phony to me, and I’m not the only one who thinks so, either.
In a recent OMG Yahoo poll, a question asks if the reader believes Miley is "super sorry" for the video in which she mocks fellow teen queen Selena Gomez. Twenty-four percent said yes, she was just joking. Forty-four percent said no, she was just jealous; and thirty three percent don’t even care.
I don’t know, though. This may be partially the reason, but I think I know the real reason: Nick Jonas. Nick Jonas — part of the Jonas Brothers trio — is the object of many girls’ affection. I mean, let’s face it, the boy’s a total hottie. Miley and Nick dated for a long time secretly (even though it was painfully obvious the two were dating) and broke up. Now, it’s clear that Selena and Nick are dating.
I also, would like to point out that I told my twin sister this was happening a month ago. Selena was in the new Jonas Brothers music video “Burnin’ Up” playing, yes, Nick’s girl. There was even a photograph of the couple embracing backstage before a Jonas Brothers show.
Judging by the break-up songs on Miley’s new album, Breakout, she definitely had a hard time with the break-up. It’s only natural that she has a problem with Selena Gomez, the girl who threatens to take away Miley’s spotlight.
The feud is definitely heating up, and it won’t be long before we see a big blowout. Fans take cover. This could get ugly - very ugly.
