The little group reaches the happy home and as they pass through the doorway last, Snape catches Elsbet up and asks her quietly, "please, promise me you will not go back there without me. That place makes me...uncomfortable. Will you promise me?" She looks at him for just a moment, her brows knitting, then stands up on her tiptoes to kiss him. There is a giggle in her heart, but she will not make light of his feelings; her kiss is like the brush of butterfly's wings on his lips, then she looks deeply into his glinting black eyes. "I promise you." As he hugs her to him, he hears Malfoy say, "oh, I think we need a cloak closet or something." Snape kisses Elsbet softly and chuckles, then says as he releases his lady, "why don't you craft one, Lucius?"

The fair wizard is already heading toward the 'leisure room', followed by Remus, Tonks and Therion. "Later," he says with a laugh, "there are far more important things at hand..." Elsbet turns back to Snape quickly and whispers, "I love you," and his breath catches in his chest. He gathers her up and carries her, telling her, "I know you do, I know, with every fiber of my Being...I trust you more than you can imagine. It's just--" she hugs him suddenly as if she's about to cry, and tells him that she understands, and that she doesn't ever have to go back to the club. That's not what he wanted, but he can not tell her there are things he fears, things he can not protect her from. He has no desire to frighten her...

As they enter the bathroom he sets her back on her feet, and Remus and Tonks are getting the story of the creation of the wonderful place. As soon as her feet touch the floor, she's stripping down, and is in the water before anyone, even Snape, knows she'd begun to undress. Malfoy looks down at her in the water and asks, "my dear Ellie, why are your clothes off first? They were the last time also, as I recall." She smiles up at him impishly and says sweetly that she likes being in the water. Snape places her clothes over the stone bench near the door, then his own beside them, then slides into the deep end of the pool. He glides over to Elsbet and she giggles when he splashes her lightly. The house tree unfurls it's branches and shakes out its loose leaves, which give off such pleasant fragrance when they fizz away in the water.

Malfoy lays his clothes beside Snape's on the bench, then gets into the pool, and Remus notices how faded his Dark Mark is. When Therion strips, he drops his clothes in a pile and pushes them to the side, and the werewolf sees the awful scar on the inside of his left arm. As Therion nears the pool, Remus imagines having the tattoo removed must have been agonizing, for the scar is quite bad, and he wonders why Therion hasn't had the Silhouettes heal it...as Therion sits down on the edge of the pool, preparing to slide into the water, he catches Remus looking at him and blushes. He pushes off from the stones and splashes into the water, then swims the short distance to his lovers in the shallow end. Malfoy grins at him. "Well, that was an entrance," he quips, and Therion chuckles as he settles against the side. "Yeah, I suppose...just being silly I guess."

He glances up at Remus, then back to Malfoy as the fair wizard teases, "I think you have a crush..." Snape covers his face in mock exasperation with a little shake of his head, then dunks himself to keep from laughing. He surfaces to see Remus stripping down slowly, and Tonks is fiddling with her own clothes. Elsbet is about to swim into the deep end, but he holds her close. Remus reflects on the night Loki was hurt; he thought then that Therion's boyish flirtation had been due to the alcohol and stress, but clearly, he was mistaken. As he places his clothes beside Malfoy's, his heart pounds with an excitement he can't believe he's feeling. He would not have thought, not have imagined, ever doing something like this, because he has never thought there would be so many who would want him this close.

He considered himself lucky to have Sirius' attention, even though that relationship never truly blossomed. He couldn't believe his fortune when Tonks actually persued him, though he told her it couldn't work...and now, these people...with them, he knows he's respected, he knows he's needed, but to know that he's wanted...it's more than he has ever imagined possible. Deep, deep down inside, there's a part of him that wishes Sirius could have known this feeling, this acceptance, but he knows somehow that it would not have changed his course, in the end. Pushing the sudden stab of grief away from his heart, he turns to his wife and helps her with the last couple of buttons on her shirt. "Are you OK with this?" He wispers and she nods, not meeting his gaze. She's blushing though, and he can see that funny little smile of hers, and he knows it's alright.

She tosses her clothes to the side near Therion's, then Remus takes her hand and together they slip into the deep end of the pool. When they surface they settle there against the side and steps emerge from it for their comfort. As they sit and get acclimated to the water, Elsbet swims slowly out to them. She smiles brightly and tells them she's very happy that they decided to come, and that she wants them to know that they're more welcome than they can imagine. "You have a place in my Family, both of you, I told you that," she says, as the house tree drops tiny white flowers into the pool, "I remind you," she says softly, "if you want to join us..." she looks at them coyly and turns, and as she swims back to her wizards, the flowers drift to Remus and Tonks, giving off little sparks of light when they fizz away.

Elsbet settles against Snape's warm body and Malfoy kisses her shoulder. She leans her head back against Snape and Therion moves closer to kiss her throat. Snape looks across the pool at his allies, wondering exactly what they're going to do. Malfoy's kisses move up and over to Snape as he reaches across Elsbet to Therion. Snape's head lols back as gentle hands touch him, caress him; the touch, coupled with the warmth of the water, closeness of those he loves, the fragrance from the house tree and the odd thrill from his uncertainty about Remus and Tonks all has an incredible effect on him. If Elsbet's loving hands (they're absolutely hers, he knows her touch instantly) stroke him just a little more, he could very easily come.

He wants to, just not yet...mercifully, she stops, and right in time, too...she knows what she's doing to him, the wicked little imp; she giggles evilly and bends over into the water before him, her ass pressed against him. His head snaps up and he looks down at her form, Gods, he could fuck her right now! He fights the overwealming urge and she straightens up, laughing, splashing them, and Malfoy moves to trap her between himself and Snape. "Oh, you are such a naughty girl," Malfoy whispers, and Snape thinks suddenly that they're going to drive him mad. He could just work himself into her tightness, and Malfoy would slide himself into her snatch...he wants this, and he wants it now...

But he resists, he forces himself to be patient, even as Malfoy kisses Elsbet deeply and presses her against him again. Therion smiles approvingly at them, then looks over at Remus and Tonks. "You're going to sit this out?" Remus chuckles and glances at Tonks, who gives him a knowing look. "I think he likes you," she whispers ironically, and his chuckle turns to a laugh. "Does that bother you?" He asks her as he swims toward the curly-maned wizard and she hops off of the step/seat. "No," she says, after some thought, "not at all. I can handle friendly competition." This isn't a competition, Malfoy thinks to himself, but when he turns to see Tonks gliding up toward them, he thinks he knows what the competition will be.

Who comes first, no doubt.

This could be very interesting, Snape thinks and Malfoy nods just slightly, smiling softly as Remus finally relaxes into Therion's arms. The werewolf sighs as though a terrible weight has been taken from him, and when he rests his head on Therion's shoulder, eyes closed, Malfoy ventures a gentle touch; he brushes the unrully hair from Remus' face, and is relieved that there is no rejection, no flinch from his former enemy. There is space enough for Tonks to fit between Elsbet, Malfoy and Snape, and Therion and her husband, and gently Elsbet pulls her in. Snape looks down at her, and she looks up at him. "Well," says he, this is certainly unexpected."

His eyebrow rises and Remus says, "I'm glad to hear that...I might have been worried if it were otherwise." The slightest smile touches Snape's lips and Elsbet nudges Tonks. "Are you nervous, Tonks? Your hair...it's turning green..." Tonks laughs and Elsbet slips out from between Snape and Malfoy, then touches Tonks' arm. "Remember when we were dancing?" Tonks nods as Elsbet turns in front of her and lays her head against Tonks' chest. "Close your eyes and pretend we're dancing again." Tonks places her hands on Elsbet's hips and the smaller woman sways in the water; the resulting waves are gentle as they lap against the watching wizards, but it's not long before watching is not enough.

Elsbet brings her arms up above her head, as she had done in the club, but then she arches her back and brings her hands down to Tonks' shoulders. This brings her lovely breasts above the water, and as Therion bends to kiss Elsbet's lips, Malfoy moves around in front of her. Her little nipples, hard for his attention, need teasing but first, he reaches down and touches Tonks' hands. Carefully, gently, he urges her hands up just a bit, until Tonks hits the happy patch. Elsbet groans and Remus moves behind his wife. He leans forward and kisses the back of her neck as Malfoy caresses Elsbet's breasts, rubbing her nipples with his thumbs. She parts her legs just slightly and Malfoy resists the urge to accept her invitiation.

That's all the hint Snape needs. He moves away from the side of the pool and disengages Elsbet from the others. "Aw, now Severus that's not fair," Malfoy protests, and Therion pats his back. "It's alright Lucius," he says comfortingly, a slightly twisted grin rising on his lips, "I've got something for you." Malfoy turns slightly and looks at him, grinning himself. "But I thought you were saving that for them..." Therion glances back at Remus and Tonks and laughs, "well, yes, but not all of it!" Snape leads Elsbet out to the middle of the shallow end and kisses her deeply, hungrily, then turns her around to face them. "I thought we were sharing," he says evenly, "but if none of you want any, I'll have it all myself."

Their expressions range from amused to determined, and Elsbet's little laugh spurs them to action. They leave the safety of their spot by the side of the pool and move out to Snape and Oddbit. Tonks reaches them first. "You're a wicked man, Severus," she says and Elsbet tells her she has no idea..."and you," Snape say to her, "are a naughty little minx. Aren't you?" She looks up at her most-loved, pretending not to know what he means, and he fixes her with his gaze. "You wanted us all together, didn't you? You knew what that little performance would do to us..." She blushes deeply, but before anyone else can say a word Tonks pulls her teasingly away from Snape.

"Since I was the one dancing with her, maybe I should get to keep her...?" Snape looks at them as a hungry dragon might at two tender morsels, which makes Elsbet giggle, which in turn makes Snape take a step toward them. Malfoy moves around behind Snape, then puts an arm around his waist. "You take her, Tonks, I'll distract him," the fair wizard says, eliciting laughs from Remus and Therion. "You'll distract me?" Snape asks as he turns around to face Malfoy, then realizes Malfoy just succeeded. "Tonks," Elsbet says quietly, "you wanted a friendly competition?" She looks at Snape's lightly scarred back and grins, "here's one. Whoever makes him come first, wins."

He looks back at her and snorts a bit but doesn't laugh; he knows she's not joking, but he can't imagine..."Is this open to all of us, or just the two of you," Therion asks, and Elsbet dunks herself, then shakes out her hair when she pops back up. "The four of you," she says, "because if I play, I'll win." Remus shakes his head and tells her, "oh, no, Ellie, it's not fair if it's not all of us." She laughs as they all converge on Snape, but he takes her wrist and pulls her into his arms. "No competition, little minx, only pleasure," he says, and it all begins with their kiss...

They are greeted by darkness, but that darkness is quickly banished as flames on candles set into empty spaces on the walls flicker to life. The air is suddenly tinged with a fragrance that none of them can identify, though on some level, they each recognize it, and are put at ease. There is a slight chill to the air, but the chill gives way as their warmth fills the enormous chamber they've entered. Everywhere they look there are books, books, scrolls, skeletons of various creatures in protective cases, weapons and shields, and all manner of incredible things. Things, Snape notes, that feel...

The copper-maned wizard reaches up a gentle hand and tugs playfully on Layne's sleeve. "It's a comfortable bed...but not as warm as I would like." Layne smiles almost shyly and takes off his boots, then turns and reaches down to take off Therion's. They hit the floor with a muffled thud, and Therion chuckles. "That hasn't happened in a while," he says, and Layne sits up, looking at him quizzically. Therion grins and tells him, "no one has taken off my shoes for me in a very long time." Layne nods, a crooked half-grin brightening his face. "Well, I haven't worn shoes in a very long time, so...

So...

107 installments, and nearly a year of writing. I didn't think it would last this long, but I have to say that it's been a pleasant, and frequently erotic, journey.

I've had a lot of fun writing this, and it's made me rethink how I feel about a couple of characters, which is a very good thing.

You're probably asking what this is, so I'll just come to it. I'm going to have to wrap the story up, much to my regret. It's been almost ten days since the last installment, and I wasn't happy with the installment as I posted it, but there wasn't anything else I could do with it. My life is changing,...

As they reach the main level of the house, the birds are discovering that they have a new place to explore, and nearly fly right into the two wizards. "We may have to make a play room for them," Malfoy says as he slides their bedroom door closed. Once alone together they are silent, and the silence is surprisingly awkward. "I felt you pass through the barrier when you returned..." Malfoy says softly after several minutes pass, and a smile plays across Snape's lips. "You're getting stronger, your senses are expanding. That is very good." Malfoy nods as if he knows Snape is not telling him something....

Snape finds part of his family in the kitchen prepairing supper, and the other part sitting in the dining room waiting for him. He is warmly greeted, with kisses and pats on the back, and his appetite is stirred by the aroma of the cooking food. He wasn't hungry when he arrived, but now, he is ravenous. "What is that?" he asks Therion, who is crushing chilies, and the wizard flashes a wicked grin. "I hope you like it hot, Severus. It's Szechuan chicken, Master Han gave Remus the recipe this afternoon." He watches Therion, Malfoy and Layne deftly and gracefully working together, Malfoy cutting...

Snape walks the halls of the school in the early morning hours, his mind full of racing thoughts, most of which are difficult to pin down. He knows where most of his allies are; Ginny, Luna, Neville, and Draco are in their safe place. Ginny, Luna and Neville will be waking soon to start their classes. Peeves is patrolling high above the Death Eaters, watching their every move. Minerva is preparing for her first class of the morning. Only Dobby's location is unknown; he has yet to return from his mission.

This concerns Snape greatly, but not quite enough for him to risk asking Kreacher where...

Elsbet takes her wand out of her pocket and slips it behind her ear, lets the robe slip from her shoulders and drapes it over a stone bench nearby, then ties back her hair. No one here will be shocked or surprised to see her as she truly is. She is sure now that the Silhouettes have always known that she is Quendi, they must have always known about her aunt's charm and enchantment, and she realizes now that must have been the reason they took her in the way they did, without her having to go through the Ordeal. They knew. Padfoot...Sirius...must have as well, somehow. All these people who love...

As Elsbet lay sleeping soundly at last, Snape slips quietly out of her bedroom, through the dining room and into the living room. Everyone is asleep. Everyone but Loki and Cambion...He gives them little scratches on their heads and asks them when Andromeda and Ted arrived. Hour'go, Cambion tells him, then Snape looks at the timepiece on the wall. It's later than he though; Dro and Ted must have been awoken by the commotion in the park. On the loveseat to his right are Therion and Malfoy, sound asleep, Malfoy's frosty-maned head on Therion's shoulder; on the couch (far end), are Dro and Ted,...

She is a tiny baby. At first, the images are slightly blurred at best, but they are poignant nonetheless. Her life began in love, he is so very relieved to find. She is laying in something puffy, something warm and very soft, laughing. It is a very sweet sound to him. Her little hands wave above her, as if she's trying to catch something, or touch something just outside of her vision.

Someone is playing with her.

Snape looks at her, his precious love, and thinks she is still just as perfect as she was then. A slender-fingered hand comes briefly into view; it caresses her face, then is gone. Slender-fingered,...

Once in, he encounters only blackness.

To say that this disturbes him would be an understatement.

All of their hard work...all of the information she risked herself to bring him...the very stability of her mind...he is afraid, for her, for himself, and for all that might have been.

But then, something in the blackness stirs. He sees movement in the apparent distance, and as it approaches, he tries to ready himself for the worst. It's a figure with a human shape, draped in a thin, wispy darkness different from the blackness that surrounds them. And then, when the figure stops before him, it waves...

The cool breeze feels so good on Elsbet's face that she thinks it would feel good all over. So as she runs she strips off the first layer of clothing leaving it where it falls. She doesn't know where she is, but she knows somehow that she is safe. She laughs because she feels good, she feels free, she feels like...like...like she needs to find something. But what? What could she need to find? She doesn't know, and at the moment she doesn't care...she hears someone calling her name, but she doesn't answer. Instead, she hides, covering her mouth so she doesn't giggle as they run passed her hiding...

After the lovely lunch, all the chatting and a little crying, they finally get to the reason Elsbet had wanted to see Remus.

"Ellie," he says in a fatherly tone as everyone settles into the living room, "I don't think that's such a good idea. Severus worked very hard to protect your mind against assault and invasion, I don't think we will be able to get very far." He reaches forward and touches her hand gently. "Besides, Ellie, we don't know what kind of damage we could do." She nods, sits quietly for a moment, then looks up at him. "But what if something has changed? What if there's something...

Dawn.

Dressed and ready, Elsbet kisses Malfoy awake, then gently caresses Therion, smiling as he wakes and realizes he's holding Malfoy's hand. She steps away from the couch as they rise, and walks into the dining room with them. There's a lite breakfast waiting for them; she tells them she thinks it would be nice if they could have brunch with Remus and Tonks today, and they agree, and settle down to eat after they get appropriately dressed.

"You know," Malfoy says, "I would really like to take a walk today, later, after...after we talk to Remus. I'd like to do something about this," he says,...

Snape lays in his bed, alone, urging himself to go back to sleep. He wants to find his feathered friend again, he wants to dream of his Sanctuary and of his Oddbit, and the other extraordinary people he has in his life. The White City is the abode of Life, but his loved ones are truly his Sanctuary. As he relaxes, he slips into the arms of sleep once more and begins to dream, though the dream is more memory than anything else.

He remembers the very first time he held Elsbet in his arms. She was frightened and injured, and when he put his arms around her to comfort her, she seemed to melt against...

She doesn't know what to say, really. She thinks back over the dinners, the holidays, the couple of times she got to visit Fred and George at their shop, and never once had she been asked, "so what's it like being a 'special' Muggle in the Magical world?" or anything of the sort.

Therion dresses, then kneels down beside Malfoy. Are you alright? he asks him, and the fair wizard replies, ask me later, please... then touches Elsbet's face again. "You're afraid of remembering something painful, and we've told you that we will help you work through that when it happens." She nods, but doesn't meet...

A dream...but who is dreaming?

A wolfpack gathers near a fountain, yapping happily to each other, tails swishing, tongues lolling...three wolves in particular roll around in the grass together, then jump up onto their paws and lick each other's faces. They chase each other around the fountain, while overhead there circles dozens of ravens in a multitude of colors, each with their own voice. They circle and laugh at the playful wolves, and alight on the row of buildings nearby. There is a baby girl in the fountain, splashing and giggling just as happily as her lupine guardians are yapping, and...

Remus fumbles with the hem of the blanket he's wrapped in, and twirls a bit of fringe between his thumb and forefinger. He draws in a deep breath and lets it out slowly. "There's quite a lot you've missed, Layne, and I don't know that I can sit here and tell you everything. I think we should...get dressed and go to my house. You can meet my wife, and we can talk." Layne stares at a small patch of dry grass beside Remus. "He's dead, isn't he, Sirius?" Remus sighs softly. "Let's go to my house and you can have a warm place to sleep, and a decent meal in the morning." Layne does not reply, but...

He heads directly to the house that Therion had secured for Sirius.

The single white lily he placed before the door is still there, but beside it is another flower, a chrysanthemum as white as the lily, and his heart tells him Andromeda has been here. He wonders briefly what will become of this house; if left like this, under its own sorrow, it would continue to break down over time, and 'die'. The plot would be unusable, and the sorrow would spread. But under the sorrow of others' as well? Its degradation will accelerate, unless something is done to stop it. What would stop...or better yet,...

...far better than what Snape will be returning to shortly. Why does he have to go? Ah, but he knows why...he just wishes there was some way to keep Snape here, keep them together.

His thoughts are commanded once again by the beauty astride him. He can't believe his extraordinary fortune; he lost the one he thought was his only true love, and then when he dared let love back in, he lost that one as well. He was afraid to let it blossom once more, but he couldn't help it. Elsbet, Snape, Malfoy, Remus...he has more love now than he could ever have hoped for or dreamed, more than he ever thought...

Beside Snape, Malfoy too falls deeply into the arms of sleep, and together, their minds drift in search of the others they love. Darker, Snape senses, and is distressed. A nightmare threatens his lady's sleep, and Therion's bright thoughts of loyal horses and ravens, brave wolves and clever cats keeps that nightmare at bay. Snape and Malfoy embrace these two mentally, and Snape's mere presence banishes the nightmare almost...
