What was the relationship between lily and snape??

Severus loved Lily since, practically the first time he met her. He was the one who told her about the wizarding world and they became best friends. When he was fifteen, Sirius and James humiliated him in front of everyone. Lily stepped in and he accidentally called her a "mudblood." He apologized but she never forgave him. It's assumed they never spoke again, but Sev never stopped loving her.

Snape loved Lily, but Lily liked being just friends (even though Snape didn't tell her he liked her). then he ruined their friendship by calling her mudblood... (and regretted it ever since) Hope that helps :)
