Something keeps Damon and Elena apart. And something keeps pulling Stefan and Elena back to each other. And there’s this thing with a love that consumes you. It’s all fun and games, until it burns. That kind of love consumes you until it destroys you. And why Damon told her she wants that kind of love, because in all honesty, it’s kind of love he knows how to give. He loved Katherine the same way and look where that brought him.

There’s this thing I especially loved. “Matt is driving me home” “To Stefan”. The thing is, Stefan is her home. Damon can take her on the edge of the world, he can give her an adventure, but when everything is said and done, she will come back home to Stefan. When ship sails out, it has two choices, come back in the harbor, or sink.

Stefan can remind her of everything she felt and was as a human. He can give her humanity, and innocence and purity. Because his love for her is always going to be pure, whether she’s a human or a vampire. She will be able to understand him better, and if Stefan keeps making her feel alive even now when she’s a vampire, well, that’s one of the best gifts you can give to a vampire. That’s what she gave him before.
