Fun at the Fair
Now that Father's Day was in full swing, Laura, George, and Ringo were on their way to Kensington Gardens. Once they got there, the place was alive with the sound of enthusiastic fairgoers. Ringo told them after checking the scheduled time for the pet show, "I'll be proceeding to the tent where this will take place so that Sparkie shall get ready for it. The show will start at 4:00 pm." George replied, "All right, mate. We'll meet you there again and watch Sparkie's performance after two hours." Ringo said, "Okie dokie. Have fun!" Laura replied, "We sure will, uncle Ringo!" The two then had a magnificent time at the carnival portion of the fair with both the rides and games. Laura even won some prizes! Afterwards, they bought soft ice cream and chocolate-dipped pretzels from the snack shack and ate them while relaxing in one of the benches. "Are you enjoying our outing so far, darling?", asked George. "I certainly am, daddy George!", exclaimed Laura. He replied, "Splendid! I'm enjoying it, too." Laura added, "Great! By the way, I have a gift just for you!" George responded with an excited tone, "What is it, my dear?" With that, she took out the card from her pocket and gave it to him. Laura said, "I made this myself." Tears of joy began to fill George's eyes as he looked at the card and read its written message, which was "Ever since we met for the first time, you have given me plenty of love, kindness, and support. Words aren't enough to describe how much you mean to me. You've inspired me to be happy again and helped me recover from the tragedy of losing my biological parents as well as saving me from my horrible grandparents. I'd also like to thank you for strengthening my confidence and for the times you stood up for me both at the orphanage and at my school. I consider myself lucky to have an adoptive father like you. Happy Father's Day! Your loving daughter, Laura Harrison." George remarked after reading it, "Oh, my darling. It's beyond lovely! This is truly one of the best gifts I've ever gotten." Laura replied, "Thanks a lot! And I'm really glad you love it." He then held her close and said, "I love you so much, Laura!" She responded, "I love you too, daddy George!" He kissed her on the forehead and cheeks in return. After finishing their snacks, they walked to the pet show tent and were able to get their seats at the front row.
