Conspiracy Theory Numeral One
Weirdo 2 here with my first crazy theory of the year!! Everybody who read the SoN (MAJOR SPOILER) knows of a certain infamous line. Yes, that’s right, “The Mark of Athena shall burn through Rome”. Thanks to World History Honors I know of one particular fire that hit Rome. That one being the 7 day fire started by Emperor Nero, the same Nero that sexually abused many male roman youth and committed matricide. (Murder of your mother) But that’s another story. Well anyway, Nero had started that fire to make room for a bigger palace. Remembering that I had a light bulb moment: Annabeth is going to burn down Rome when she lets Gaea possess her out of her anger at Hera/Juno and her hatred for Rome. Okay stay with me for a second.
My reasons for thinking that:
Annabeth has the hardship of carrying two distinctly different traits, wisdom and hubris. Those two are pretty much opposing forces which means Annabeth has to use a lot of willpower to balance out her deadly pride which IS her FATAL flaw. It makes sense to me that her flaw will be tested again. Reading the series we’ve seen her let hubris overpower wisdom in her.

Annabeth is very anti- roman. Well most of the Greeks don’t like them but Annabeth is the only one to be outright angered by the presence of a Roman Camp and shows MAJORLY HOSTILE feelings to Rome. Add to that the fact that her boyfriend (maybe even love) is missing and the one who she hates most is responsible. Put that together and it is easy to see how she may in her current vulnerable situation bend to Gaea’s will because of her grief and anger.
One last crazy idea (which I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO BASIS FOR THINKING): Annabeth is a descendant of Nero. Although QUITE unlikely I can’t help but think.
Well that’s all for now,
Forever the Wierdest,
