Yeah, the possible deaths of our loved/not so loved characters.
There might be another list of this in the articles, but this is with my own ideas this time. And maybe they don’t have the same characters I do? Plus, I saw a question about it and made this so long it became an article.
So I give you, my epicly long list of CONSPIRACY THEORIES:
1.) Percy-
Woah! There's a big one here! There are a number of reasons why I think Percy might die in this series:
a.) I think Rick Riordan was seriously thinking about killing him in the end of ‘The Last Olympian’ I mean, the ending just kinda went on- didn’t it? The new prophecy, I don’t know, something about the cliffhanger had me thinking: He better make a second series or I am going to die.
b.) He made an oath to fight against the Greeks if they turned out to be enemies- and his friends (Hazel and Frank) did warn him Octavian would kill him if he was wrong. Not such a bright idea to swear on his life, now was it? Well, that’s a Seaweed Brain moment right there.
c.) HELLO! Octavian is there. This crazy psycho maniac teddy-bear killer is on the loose! He’s got the knife, the stuffing, and the guts to do it. Stuffing guts, yeah. Clever? Yep. The nerve to take the position as Praetor? OH YEAH! Will he do anything for it? Mmmhhmmm.
d.) Throughout the Son of Neptune, Mother Earth has a tendency to call Percy “precious Pawn” (try saying that 5 times fast) and as so nicely worded by the ever-so-wise Perseus Jackson, “the pawns tend to die a lot” which is totally true, in chess terms. ( “Such a valuable pawn,’ she said soothingly.” - The Son of Neptune, Page 265) So is this a future clue from Rick Riordan? We’ll have to wait and see...
2.) Annabeth-
Yeah, hold up there. Sure, she’s been around from the beginning, but we’ve got the Mark of Athena hovering over us in the months to come- and what other Athena character do we know of? Annabeth of course. Plus, we’ve got the unfinished prophecy: “Wisdom’s daughter walks alone, the Mark of Athena burns through Rome.” which was mentioned in the Son of Neptune. Obviously some daughter of Minerva/Athena.
Plus, in the SoN Gaea mentioned about “Come North! You’re friends will die, yes.” (Page 265) but which friends? Where and why? Have no idea, MOA COME FASTAAAA!! Plus on Amazon it said “Annabeth is back!” so that’s an auto-flag going: HOLY CHEESE!
Why cheese? I like cheese.
3.) Jason-
Hey! It’s possible. Before he nearly died when he saw Juno’s true form and might not have been alive without Piper’s awesome charmspeaking. Really, I have no other clues that he might die. Depends how things progress in the series. And being a son of Zeu- Jupiter doesn’t make you Hercules, so anything is possible. Or, when Jason has to choose between Piper and Reyna he chooses Piper and Reyna kills him. That would be hilarious in my opinion, but others might *cough* Jazzy *cough* think that Jason is a good character. I don’t know. I’m not Rachel.
4.) Piper-
I don’t see any reason why she would die, but she really only has charmspeaking as her greatest weapon. If she became, like, mute for example, she’s screwed. Other than that, I’d say she’s not gonna have a good likelihood of dying in the future.
5.) Leo-
AH! No! NO! I don’t even want to discuss it, but I have an excerpt that confuses me:
“‘I can not destroy you yet,’ the woman murmured. ‘The Fates will not allow it.’”
o_o AH!!! Yet? YET! YET!? Oh yeah, and Leo is the only fire in user in centuries seeing as the other one had burned down half of London. Yay for Leo.
Also, there was the awkward "Is Leo, Sammmy?" question that popped up in the SoN- which makes me cautious of what is to come.
Could Leo be Sammy? Or is Sammy really Leo, and Leo is Sammy and Sammy is Sammy/Leo and Leo...

Hm, they both have the same last name and Hazel thinks they act the same..
Coincidence? HA! This is Rick, we are talking here. Nothing is on accident...
Hm, there might be a clue we are missing there, but it could mean anything. It’s all up to Rick.
6.) Hazel-
Honestly, this chick died once before- a long time ago. But this is her chance to make things right!-right? I’m guessing at the end Rick might have her go back to the Underworld seeing as she belongs there- but like in the SoN, her father and Thanatos might give her another slide. Who knows? We’ve still got a few more books to go.
7.) Frank-
Out of everyone, Frank is the most likely to die (aww Frank fans). But seriously, HIS LIFE DEPENDS ON A FRIGGIN’ STICK. That burns out- he’s screwed. Plus, Juno/Hera whatever said “He will be the strongest of your clan- the greatest. But the Fates have decreed that he will be the most vulnerable. As soon as that piece of tinder is consumed-that stick at the edge of the fire- your son is destined to die.” - The Son of Neptune, Page 123
So at some point in the series, Frank is going to die. I may not like it, you may not like it, but it’s gonna happen. At some point. We’ll see.
8.) Reyna-
HAHAHAHA, she’s not even part of the seven, but I think she’s an important character. But she’s pretty strong- but like everything else, she’s not infallible. So there’s a tiny chance, but I highly doubt it.
9.) Nico-
Yeah, Nico is awesome like that to get a special spot on this list. I think Nico is going to play a very importante role in the book! Random spanish, but whatever. I’ll ask Leo for the full translation later. ANYWAYS, in the SoN when Hazel is chattin’ with big-bad-mother-evil over there, she mentioned how she had captured Nico and that he might be dead- and Hazel had a feeling she was telling the truth. OH SNAP! Besides, Nico is a son of Hades. Doors of Death, anyone?
10.) Thalia-
Being a Hunter does NOT make you invincible. We found that out somewhat the hard way in the ‘Titan’s Curse’ with Zoe Nightshade. She’s pretty powerful and tied to Jason- like Hazel and Nico are. Who knows? Maybe Gaea will use her for bait or something. It would stink if she died though. Mostly for you Perlia fans (no, I AM KIDDING). But I doubt it. Once again, I DON’T KNOWWWWW.
11.) Octavian-
HA! This dude is screwed. For a few reasons, Rick Riordan compared him to Luke-who died- and also Luke betrayed his friends to go to the dark side- and if that happened, Percy or anybody else wouldn’t hesitate to show him a lesson from the teddy bears. Speaking of teddy bears, anyone who just murders them is EVIL -or pillow pets. R.I.P the fluffy panda pillow pet- so besides that, I see the comparison between him and Luke very...revealing. As to someone who wanted more research *cough* Jazzy *cough* who always sees the best in everyone, okay. He didn't kill Percy the moment he stepped into camp, and that's about as nice as I can see him. Seriously, this dude is evilly SCHEMING. I betcha Octavian had already found Jason too in his giant mounds of fluffy stuffing and wanted the praetorship so bad he kept his trap shut- or Hera/Juno made him so not to ‘spoil’ her ‘plan’. Meh, no one cares Hera. *thunder* I MEAN UH, YEAH THAT WAS A GREAT IDEA! Yeah, great idea to ruin Percabeth- I MEAN NOTHING! o_O
12.) Rachel-
As much as I would laugh, this is ridiculous. She’s the Oracle- and the oracles don’t die unless by like, old age. Either way, Rachel is going to important in the next books but also she can’t die because the Spirit of Delphi protects her--DAMMIT!
13.) Clarisse-
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
No seriously, I’m laughing now. As if that would happen- Clarisse is too uh, kickbutt for that. So I doubt it.
14.) Connor & Travis-
I don’t even know if they are gonna make a big appearance in the series! I don’t know! But they are twins, and you saw what J.K. Rowling did to Fred and George... *tear*
15.) Drew-
Other than the fact that if she stands in front of Piper and Jason, she’s dead, I have no reason how this chick would die. Or, she joins the dark side, but I doubt that. OR- Gods forbid- she get’s a pair of ugly jeans and dies of Uglyjeansitis. Oh the horror!
That’s about it! As the story goes on, I’ll add/change ideas or add new characters. Don’t know, either way it’s here. And if I missed a character, tell me in the comments!
