Chapter Twelve
"This just in," announced anchorman Douglass. "Some new insight on the Dalton murder case has just been revealed. Not only have they discovered the real killer they also have a CD of the killer admitting to the crime. Although, they will not go public with the names and other crucial details we still keep faith for the Dalton parents as they go through this awful time. Back to you Joe."
Dakota stared her tv with astonishment. She had just leave the jailhouse and arrived home to find her parents watching the news. Not only was she surprised, she was also impressed on how Hazel had willingly turned herself in.
"Oh dear," called Dakota's mom. "This letter came in the mail for you. It is something about a court date."
Court Date
Judge Monte stood firmly in her chair. She was like a queen sitting over her subjects. "Okay plaintiff, call your first witness."
"We call Reese to the stand," declared the Dalton's lawyer. Reese shyly moved her way to the stands. She silently sat down keeping her head facing the floor. "Reese, where were you the night of Abigail's murder?"
"Oh uh I was home, alone," Reese said.
"At the time, did you know Hazel Portwood?"
"Not at all," Reese hesitated for continuing. "I did see her around."
"Would you say that she was ever nice to Abigail?" asked the lawyer.
"Not ever!" There were some gasp and a few head shavings of disapproval.
"Defendant call your first witness to the stand," said the judge.
"We call Hazel to the stand," said the Hazel's lawyer. When Hazel finally settled in her chair, the lawyer began questioning her. "Did you do it?" he asked.
"Yes," said Hazel. This time there were loud gasping.
They had her now. There was no way she could possibly get out of this situation. Hazel would be rotting in jail soon. They showed the evidence and did more questioned. Dakota watched from the chairs as it all went down. The jury was finally going to make their decision. It only took them five minutes to come up with a verdict. A short man stood up. "We find the defendant, not guilty but maybe mentally insane."
"The defendant will be tested for mental sanity and she is free to go," said the judge. "Case closed."
Hazel strolled past Dakota and mumbled, "See you on the outside, if you ever make it."

I've been written
The painful truth,
Just two days ago,
When I was...betrayed.
He walked away from me
He threw me down in the sand
Like I was some little doll
Of little importance.
It was a scary thought
To think,
Of all those years...
When he took me in
Now he threw me down and that's that
I'm not a paper doll
So I will not be thrown down again
Cuz I am not a puppet
No one will control me with strings
I am invincible
I am an individual
No one shall make me suffer
Though I must cry sometimes....
Don't swing me by my head
Don't make me lose my mind
I don't want to destroy you
But I will, if you destroy me.

Hi. My name is Jake Gartner, and right now, basically a huge mutant serpent is coming to swallow me whole, tear me to pieces of flesh, so I have no time to talk right now. Oh, um...you want to follow me? Sure, just accept that everyday will be the best of the thrills. Right now, we are not getting any help from the immortal world, so just know that we have a horrible system of magic right now, and we have an extremely low supply of weapons, thus, the chance that you will get out of this mess is around eighty-six percent. (because of me, the master of war) Oh yeah, the serpent. Enough talk. (ROARS) Off to kill a mutant serpent!!! (stabs, deflects, cuts a gash in its head, dies) That's only our first one, trainee. Whatever your name is. Next time, I invite you to join with us on our battle. And it will be even more life-consuming, if you know what that means.
I walk into
The Fields of Sorrow
Once again.
Why do I walk there
Almost everyday?
I stroll along the grasses
Thinking
Bearing a horrible pain.
I think of the world around me
And how much they have inspired me.
I start to cry once again.
All my teachers
All my friends,
They have always stood by me,
When things went wrong.
I want a chance to repay them,
To show them that...
Their work was useful.
To show them that
I am truly thankful.
Why do I have to leave them then
Now?
No, now's not a good time.
But I know it was not intended
That I leave them now.
I want to show all those people
That they have been
The change of my life,
That they have made my life so much
Better,
That they were the flames
In the darkness.
