Chapter 4
Ali, the overdramatic partier
Right now were making our way to some exclusive party that Ali got invited to. Since I’m introducing you to my friends in a horrible dis-organized order, there’s one vital important thing about Ali.
Like I’ve told you she’s the great partier out of us all, not afraid to attend a party at a college guys dorm, which sends red flags up everywhere in my mind. But since she knows that, she’s inviting us to this high school party hosted by someone named Chad Holder.
You can tell which house is his by the loud music blasting from it, all the lights were on, and there was about a thousand cars in every spot next to it. I noticed how his neighborhood was eerily absent, no one in sight.
“Chad’s parents are billionaire’s, they can make a whole town steer clear for there son’s parties,” Ali said, waving her hand dismissively when I asked her.
Sage’s eyes glazed over. “Wickedly cool.”
“Sounds dangerous to me,” Beth mutters, casting a wary glance at the house.
“Oh, don’t be such babies!” Ali complains as she smears some gloss to her lips, giving her already glittered face more glitter.
I hold in the urge to tell her that, she just wants to stands out from the other more horribly induced people, who are bound to be intoxicated.
The four of us stay close as we enter the house, already my nose is assaulted by the smoke and bear that these teens are poorly trying to conceal, if they tried at all. Beth wrinkled her nose in disgust while Sage pinched her nose, I held my breathe.
Ali, unaffected, strolled around to the kitchen with the three of us close to her heels. Knowing Ali, this is probably mild compared to the other parties.
A guy walks leisurely to us, a lazy grin on his face. I’m guessing he’s Chad.
“You came,” he said happily, kissing Ali’s cheek as if she was an old friend. He appraised us. “With such pretty little things too.”
Sage gave him her polite smile, she may not know him or like him, but we were at his party, just complimented. It would be nice to acknowledge it, he’s easily distracted anyway, his eyes wandering to easy targets.
I on the other hand focused on his refrigerator, sniffing the air, smells like really good spicy food.
He handed us these plastic red cups and I poked mine as if it were an alien.
“I know what evil’s you behold,” I told my cup once Chad left, the gals rolling their eyes at me. “And I am immune to your ways, don’t try anything!”
With that I threw mine at the wall, it’s liquid pouring out of it and splashing the stainless walls.
“Oops, he he.” I mutter, making sure Chad didn’t see that, which he didn’t.
Ali laughed. “Wow, not surprising, you do that almost every time.”
“No I don’t.” I blink innocently.
Just then my soon-to-be husband entered the kitchen with Grey (spawn of the devil) following. Cal gave us a polite smile and nod, but made a beeline to the refrigerator.
Sadly, Grey did not.
“Ladies,” he gave us another dazzling smile. “Fancy seeing you here.”
Why can’t there roles be reversed? Why can’t Cal be talking to us now? WHY?!
“It’s a party, Grey.” Sage says, narrowing her eyes at him. “We can come here to.”
He nods, his gaze finds Beth but his smile immediately disappears at the cup in her hand.
“What’s that?” Grey asks, walking towards her, and taking the cup.
“Chad gave it to us,” Beth explained.
Grey lifted the cups to his lips, and gave a small sip. “It’s drugged.”
“I wasn’t going to drink it anyway, I’m not stupid.” Beth said defensively.
“I didn’t say you were, you just should know to be more careful.”
“Stop lecturing her Grey,” Ali warned, her eyes flashing dangerously. “Your not exactly a good example.”
Grey glared at her. “Neither are you.”
They had a glaring contest, and Beth awkwardly tugged on Grey’s shirt to get his attention, he looked to her quickly.
“Hey, you don’t have to fight. I get it, thanks for looking out for me.” She gave him a small smile.
Grey nodded, still looking concerned. “I just don’t want you to get hurt.”
“I know.” Beth says.
Grey nods, his takes Sage’s cup to, who protests as he dumps the contents on the floor, not even bothering to try not to make a mess. He purposely ignores Ali, as he taps Cal’s shoulder.
“Hey man, you found something yet.”
Cal nods, a beer bottle in his hand. “Let’s go.”
They leave the room, and I am frustrated at them both ignoring me. But I put the frustration down.
“Ali, do you know where the bathroom is?” Beth asks. “I knew I shouldn’t have drunken that jug of water.”
“Let’s go find it,” Sage says grabbing Beth’s arm and they both exit the room.
It’s awfully quiet and awkward once the girls leave, I shift uncomfortably and Ali studies the ground.
“He’s right you know,” she whispers and my head shoots up.
“Who right? About what?” I ask dumbly.
Ali rolls her eyes, looking normal again. “Grey, about me being a bad example. I am one, going to crazy parties, drinking beer.”
I shake my head. “Nobodies perfect bubs, you may be naughty but your awesome to. You’re a great friend, and you get your work done in school. Your nice and friendly, and I’m sure there’s a ton of girl’s at this party that have a routine like you, but they can never compare because your way better.”
Ali nods smiling, “yeah, I totally kick butt, don’t I?”
“You know it!” I say and we clap hands.
“So bubs, wanna dance?” Ali flashes me a wicked grin.
“I thought you’d never ask!” I say, flashing her a one of my own.

I am a broken-winged eagle
Who cannot fly
Because I have set no goal for myself.
Other people laugh and scoff at me,
And I know that I must quickly find something
To hope for.
Everyday I think,
"What's the use? Nothing is my talent. Give up."
People think I am nothing but stupid,
But I can see that light within myself.
I have not yet soared.
I have not yet found my dream.
One day, I find something unique to dream for.
Writing.
Something that can take me to faraway places
Anywhere, beyond this universe.
And now I can soar.
Far, far, faraway
Where no one can catch me.
Where no one can disturb me.
Where I can be free.
Where I will no longer be
A broken-winged eagle.
Who cannot fly
Because I have set no goal for myself.
Other people laugh and scoff at me,
And I know that I must quickly find something
To hope for.
Everyday I think,
"What's the use? Nothing is my talent. Give up."
People think I am nothing but stupid,

Where no one can catch me.
Where no one can disturb me.
Where I can be free.
Where I will no longer be
A broken-winged eagle.
Let us hold hands in joy
Let us sit on the warm white sand
And let us watch the sun set tonight
We're gonna be a pair
We're gonna fly away
And let nobody go into our minds
Toni-i-ight
We're gonna slowly stand up
Listen to the waves
Roar and wash into the sand
And I'm gonna lean on you
Oh where were the times?
Where were the moments?
It seems like last year
When I kissed you and locked eyes
The sun's settin
But we're never gonna leave each other
Not if we stay together
Like ever...like forever
Watch the sun set
Watch the waves roll into each other
Oh my dear,
We're gonna never be separated
Sun sets,
Waves roll,
We're gonna sleep...
Side by side.
