Chapter One: A Big Difference Between Normal and Reality
"Well, maybe if you didn't yell so much then I would try to listen to you!" I gave Christina a dangerous stare that sometimes made her back off but not today. Today she had one too many to drink and decided to stand her ground. She knew what I was capable of but still she remained focus on me. "Then you think you could just stand here and pretend you actually love my father!"
Her bright grey eyes gleamed a little, almost like she was hurt by what I said. "I do love him but you are too conceited to realize the truth. All you do is think about yourself. Just because I don't fit the image of a perfect mother doesn't mean you have to be insolent!" The only thing that kept me from slapping her was the doorbell.
Without taking my eyes off of her, I opened the door. Standing out the door was my dad, Byron Armstrong with his dirty blonde hair and dark brown eyes. Seeing him made me forget all about my debacle with Christina, his wife. My dad had to be the coolest father alive. It wasn't because he was an international counter spy/hacker or because he treated me like an adult while still treating me like a kid I was. I had him in a bear hug before he could even mutter hello. "Okay kido, we better get going if we plan on beating traffic."
"Okay, I just have to get the rest of my stuff." I rushed up the steps of our apartment or Christina's apartment. Dad and I are moving closer to the border of Canada. Christina said her parents had paid the rent for another 3 months so she was going to stay until it was time.
I had already had my suitcase filled with clothes, notebooks, and anything else I would need. My gadgets were in my book bag. I got my suitcase, my book bag, and my phone and rushed out the door. I kept my eyes looking straight just in case dad was making out with Christina. That is something I do not want to witness this early in the morning. "Come on dad, we have a long way to go. Brookhaven Prep won't wait on us."
With he last tug I was able to get him through the door and out of the arms of Christina. Outside waiting for us was the private jet he had bought just for this. The fast movement of the jet's wings sped my red hair out of control. It was insanely awesome. I couldn't stop the cheesy grin that as on my face. "Come on in," Dad stepped inside where our luxury suite was. We each took a seat side by side. I could still see Christina frantically waving her hand while holding a lit cigarette in the other. As we settled in the small compartment, he stared hard at me. "I know this might be spoiling you but Chadwick Academy did inform me that you had gotten your multipurpose license a few months go. Do you want to test them?"
Disbelief came over me, "Yeah I do," I said as we went to the control room where the driver was already out of the seat.
We immediately settled into our new positions. Dad sat at the passenger's seat while I was in the driver's seat. It was so exciting to be behind the wheel again. Back at Chadwick Academy Disciplinary School for Delinquents it was mandatory for all us to have our license in this field. I was the first o receive mine. In our honor, the school had a huge celebration bash for everyone who had received their license. They even let some of us stir the plane. I was really going to miss that
After an hour of flying I resigned and joined my dad in the compartment. His was drinking green tea and staring out the window. Those dark brown eyes was staring intensely out of the window. Whatever as out there sure had his attention. "What's wrong?"
It took him a moment but eventually he rested his eyes in me. "Nothing, how was flying?"
That nothing wasn't very believable but for his sake I let it go. He was graying by the minute. His shaggy blonde hair is now was not slowly turning grey around the edges. It frightened me to think of my dad as an old man. It just seemed impossible. "Excellent, I haven't lost any of my skills."
"I could see that," he joked. "What do you think about Brookhaven Prep? Are you sure you aren't mad at me?" Just a month ago my dad was employed at Brookhaven Prep for Young Adult. It is one of the most elite schools in the world. The best spies have trained there and soon became legends. Everyone at Chadwick Academy awed at my fortune. I could now go to the one of the most elite school for free because my dad, Byron Armstrong, works there. To me, it seemed that all of my fortune was because of my dad. Everything that I have received in life was because my dad.
If you the name Byron Armstrong doesn't ring a bell then you have biofuels been living in a cave. Byron Armstrong is one of the most legendary counterspies in all of America. His skill are extraordinary and he has been out on the most dangerous list. Everyone loved him. He saved Ron's of people by using the intelligence he has collected from numerous of double agents over the years. He knows more about government then he knows about anything else. He is one of the most dangerous and sought after person in the world. He had couldn't live with me because o the danger he was constantly in. He recently took a bit of a break this fall. He has invited me to join him at Brookhaven Prep numerous of times. I just now accepted his offer.
"I'm not mad but I just don't want to be there," I said as the waitress gave me sweet tea. "Do you know how complicated it was to start school as a spy in the first place? Then do you remember when I was Stephanie Scott because I didn't want to be an Armstrong?"
"No one said my job was easy but you did pick it as your life choice." He took one long sip of green tea before he continued. "You will get use to it soon enough. Trust me. The job keeps you feeling alive. It is very thrilling."
"You sound like a spoiled kid just looking for a thrill," I joked but he didn't think it was funny. Instead he continued the staring out the window. What could be so important that he couldn't take is eyes off of it. We were like thousand of miles up in the air.

Don't even care now if I slipped right down
Just wanna get back up
Oh where are the times we stood up straight
Never let something shove us down?
Oh when did we get back up
When something tripped us over?
It seems like yesterday when we did that
But we're so obnoxious now it's crazy
Just pull yourself together
Cuz I don't even care if I fell
Well yesterday was the worst day of my life
Just tripping on the hard cold cement
But yesterday seems like eternity now
Cuz I'm not looking back now
Disappointments are for yesterday
Looking back on them is naive
Why do you wanna be a fool
Looking back on the streets of disappointment?
So get back up and breathe
In the warm city air
Disappointments are for yesterday
So pull yourself up.
