Chapter 13
The day after
The next few hours were very painful, but we made it through it. Adam’s buddies appeared but never visited, which I am highly grateful for because Meredith and Talia are a handful already.
So the next day, I wake up early with a headache that feels like my brain was taken out and is being prodded and I can still feel it. I sigh as I rub my eyes and take my lovely time to go downstairs. I had forgotten about the guys from the drama during yesterday’s sleepover so imagine my surprise to find a boy lying facedown and snoring into our couch.
I happened to like that couch.
He wore paint spattered jeans and a t-shirt that was paint splattered too, and I could tell that he spent the whole night playing video games. Adam was right by the description, and I had to force myself to look away before he woke up and saw me staring at him like an idiot.
Wait a minute, this is my house!
I march over there and lightly tap his shoulder.
No response.
I take a pillow from the couch and throw it at him.
Still no response.
I sigh. “Don’t kill me Adam, and I’m presuming Ryler.”
I take a part of his sheets, which he’s wrapped in and pull.
Success.
He tumbles to the floor and makes an annoyed groan. “Dude! I know I was supposed to sleep in the guest room. But hey. Me? Video games? You know the deal.”
“First of all, I’m not a dude.” I say, and he looks up at me and blinks. Surprised. “And second of all. You? Video games? You spent the whole night on that, so it was still your fault.”
“Oh…um…sorry.” Ryler stands up and extends his hand. “Ryler, you must be Pamela.”
“Pam, call me Pam, or feel my wrath.” I say straight faced.
Ryler grins. “Warning accepted miss Pam Jones,”
I smile as I shake his hand. “Pleased to meet you, Ryler.”
“Seriously? Formality? This is not the 19th century.”
“Nor is it an age without manners,” I say, wisely.
There’s a knock on the door, and Ryler grins at me wickedly. “Better get that.”
I nod, and I walk up to the door. Now, imagine my surprise when I open the door to see Cal standing there.
“Cal?” I say, and a small ripple of happiness passes through me. “What are you doing here?”
“I’ve come to get Meredith,” he says, eyeing my pajama’s. “Nice night wear.”
I feel my blood boil at her name, and I’m even angrier with his rude greeting. “It’s 6:00 in the morning! She’s still sleeping!”
“Wake her.”
“No need to,” Meredith says appearing behind me. “I got your text miles away. Come on, honey.”
Then she walks up to him and kisses him on the mouth. Right in front of me. I’m so angry I slam the door in their faces.
Ryler chuckles behind me. “Someone’s not a morning person, I guess it’s a curse.”
I nod. “For you and me both.”
“Hey! You were the one that rudely woke me!”
“Because my other tactics didn’t work, I wouldn’t seriously do that to you on purpose.” I put on my best innocent face.
“Sure you won’t.” he laughs. “Want coffee?”
I wrinkle my nose. “Coffee doesn’t exist I this house, once upon a time it did and that was when half the house was trashed because of unused energy.”
Ryler cocked his head. “Juice then?”
“Absolutely. Serve me some butter boy.” I say, plopping on the couch and turning on the tv.
“Butter boy?”
I give him a cheeky grin. “You’re my personal butler this morning. Now move! I don’t just pay you there to stand there and look pretty.”
“Pretty?!” He looks offended. “Handsome, you’ve made me lose some of my man points.”
“As if you already had some.” I mock.
“Oh trust me, I am a manly man.”
I laugh. “Just get me my juice.”

Wednesday
First day of summer and I'm already bored. I'm not bored enough to want to back to school. I'm just lonely bored. L. J called me several times this morning wondering if I was okay and if I wanted to go some place with him. I kindly rejected him. If it wasn't Jennifer or Tammie calling then I don't want to hear. Velvet signed me up book club thing. I do like to read books and she thought that maybe I could meet some new friends that have something in common with me. I think she is full of baloney. Velvet made me promise to go to the first meeting tomorrow. I don't know. We'll see how my mood is by tomorrow.

After much debate, I have decided to try my hand at writing a mystery novel. I've always loved mysteries, especially the original "Sherlock Holmes" stories, and shows like "Monk" and "Twin Peaks". The summary for the story I'm writing is in the in the section below. If you like the idea, let me know, because I'm really excited for the story!
