So, another day at Forks High School, another day of listening to mindless superficial popular kids, going on and on about every little imperfect thing in their lives... great, my idea of a good time! But I had something to look foward to.. Jacob would be there! Well, not in ALL my classes but enough to make me want to go to school. I stared out the window in the science lab, observing the clouds and trees, thinking of how much I wanted to get out of the classroom, when there was a knock at the door.
"Come in", yelled Mr. Banner. And in walked one of the office ladies.
"Sorry, Bob, you've got another one", she said apologetically. At first, I thought it would be some foreign exchange student, but this guy was not a foreign exchange student! He was, too beautiful for words. His bronze hair worn messily beside his cheeks, his solid face, his black eyes... everything. It was more than I was ready to handle.
"Uh, Mr. Cullen, welcome to the class.. sorry, the only seat left is next to Bella, right over there", murmured Mr. Banner as he pointed in my direction. I glanced quickly around the room, only to confirm Mr. Banner's statement. As he sat down, I moved further away from him, because as loud as I am with Jake, and all his gang, I can get very timid around guys like Edward. So, as I moved closer to the window, I heard the most beautiful noise I've heard.
"Well, I didn't think I smelled that bad", Edward snickered.
"Uh, it's not you, it's just, uh... I'm more comfortable working by myself", I stuttered back.
"So do I... so why don't we work alone... together", he offered.
"Umm, yeah sure", I accepted. So, we awkwardly completed the exercise set. And as soon as the bell rang, I ran out that door as fast as my legs would take me.
It was lunch, which was fabulous for me, because it meant I would have some free time with Jacob. Today, everyone was at school.. Sam, Leah, Emily, Quil, Embry, Jared, Paul.. and four people sitting at a table in the corner, four people I had never seen before. They were all equally beautiful. Two girls and two guys. One girl had long, wavy blonde hair that reached to the middle of her back. She had golden eyes, and was slim, the sort of girl who made friends easy. The second girl had short, cropped hair, black as ebony. Her eyes were darker than the other girls but still gorgeous. As for the guys... they were so handsome. One had blonde hair and black eyes, and the other had short, curly black hair, with topaz eyes. They were all paler than me, with firm skin and as I realised they looked so similar to a certain somebody that sat next to me in biology, and that's when he walked in and sat beside the gorgeous blonde. Of course, I thought, someone that handsome already has a blonde bimbo girlfriend. But the girl seemed more interested in the curly dark haired guy. I admit, I was staring quite a lot, and it must have been obvious because I had a set of eyes staring back... Edward's. I quickly looked away, and turned to face Jacob, but he wasn't looking at me. He was looking at Edward, not in the same fascinated way as I had looked at him, but an angry way. In fact, everyone on the table other than me was looking at that table.
"Jacob, stop staring. They're just new kids.." I hissed. Jacob's eyes flickered to mine, and his expression softened.
"Yeah, sorry Bella. I'm just being silly", he whispered.
But once again, his eyes returned to that table, and I swear I heard him ... growl.
