We'd decided on Jennifer Alose Black. Jennifer, after my mom, Alose as a combination between Alice and (grr) Rosalie.
It hadn't necessarily hurt me, but it was surprising that Renesmee actually managed to break my wrist in three places.
Right now, I was sitting on the chair next to Renesmee's bed, holding her hand to my face, watching her dreams. Bella was sitting opposite me, holding Jen.
"Hi, grandma," I said jokingly. Bella gave me a death glare that clearly said, "If you ever call me that again, whether it be to my face or behind my back, I will hunt you down with the aid of a certain overly-antagonized blonde and together we will dissect you." The meaning was clear.
"Yes ma'am," I said, saluting her with my free hand. Bella rolled her eyes at me.
Jen was already pretty. I would probably have a hard time fighting boys off later when she was old enough. So far, she seemed to be growing twice as fast as was normal for humans, but it was only to be expected, I guess. But we had bigger problems. What if she didn't stop aging? What if she phased? What if -
Renesmee's dreams had taken an unexpected turn. I was seeing a watery blackness, not clausterphobic, not quite, but it was like being stuck in some gothic lava lamp. Then, a deadening feeling of pressure took over, like being trapped underwater for too long. Then red. Ripping sounds, screams, piercing screams. I was seeing Renesmee being born.
I pulled her hand away from my face, and held it out to Bella. She narrowed her eyes, then passed me Jen and took Renesmee's hand. Her eyes widened, then looked astonished.
I turned my attention to Jen.
She had Renesmee's heart-shaped face that she had inherited from Bella, black hair with reddish streaks. Cinnamon coloured skin, with an adorable little flush developing on her cheeks. Yeah, so I'm not that poetic or anything.
But I was definetly not lying.
