The next morning I woke up early for school. Really, why must I wake up early when I have to wake up early in the first place? Today I have to do something about Edward, I have decided. I probably will not go to school. I need help from Alice because I do not know what to do.
Ring. Ring. Ring.
It's my phone ringing and I see the name Alice flashing on the screen. It's as if she read my mind.
"Alice, I need help," I said.
"Help?" she sounded startled.
"What do I do about Edward," I moaned into the phone.
"Oh, thank goodness I thought something happened that I missed. I do not know what to do about Edward. Have you tried calling?" Alice said.
"If I call him will it do anything? Will he even answer the phone?"
"No," Alice said flatly.
"Well, Alice, what will work?"
Silence. All I hear is silence. This is bad. She didn't hang up. This is really bad. Alice not saying anything is enough for me to know that I won't like the only way to get Edward to come home. My mind is running wild when Alice finally says something.
"I do not think you will like this," Alice said. Thanks, Alice, for telling me something that I already figured out.
"Okay..." I said.
More silence. Oh, gosh. What's going on? Normally Alice can't stop talking. Is she struggling for words? That is so not Alice!
"Well... Bella I do not want to break the news to you!" Alice said obviously frustrated.
"Well then who will?" I said equally frustrated.
"Have you spoken to Jacob on the phone lately?"
"Why should I call him?"
"No. Because he won't answer," Alice said.
I could swear that my heart just stopped. Tears started forming in my eyes. Edward got to him. I just started bawling. I was sobbing and I couldn't hear what Alice was saying so I tried to control myself. I eventually did control my tears and I could hear Alice getting annoyed on the other end. Why is she so heartless? She is my best friend and she doesn't care that the love of my life is dead because her own brother killed him?
"I honestly do not know why you are crying Bella, you do not even know what's going on," Alice said.
"He's dead because your brother killed him," I said, still trying to control my tears.
"Bella, Bella, that;s not it," he voice no longer had a trace of annoyance and now it was very soothing. "Jacob is alive, Edward did not go after him. Ever,"
"Oh," I said, realizing I just made a fool of myself.
"I'm sorry Bella. I should have realized that what I said would lead you to believe that... What you thought happened really happened. But it didn't. Jacob is alive and healthy I can promise you that,"
"Then why won't he answer the phone?" I asked.
A moment of silence. All this silence will probably lead me to paranoia. Well it kind of already has.
"He is going after Edward," Alice finally said.
"What? My Jacob is going after Edward? Why?"
I can not believe Jacob would do this. It's just not like him.
"He thought Edward was going to try to steal you from him," Alice said.
"Doesn't he know I would never leave him for anyone?" I said, astonished by the reason that Jacob would do this.
"Apparently, no," Alice said.
"Did he get to him yet?" I said.
"No, and we need to get moving now if we can stop it from happening all together. They won't fight if you are there," Alice said.
"What will happen if I don't get there on time?" I said panic-stricken.
"Bella, we will get there on time. Get ready now because I am on the way to your house. We have to drive to Tanya's house,"
"Isn't that far?" I said sobbing again.
"Bella, I drive fast. We will make it," Alice said with determination.
I never saw the day when I would bet against Alice. But today is that day. I have a feeling Alice is hiding something from me, to give me hope.
"I'm here," Alice said. She hung up. I ran down the stairs and out the door into Alice's car.
"Bella don't cry," Alice said as we sped away. "I can see the future Bella. They will both walk away unharmed. That I promise you," Alice said while driving.
It says she's driving 120 mph. I'm too sad to be scared. Alice and I do not talk for the rest of the ride. I'm so afraid for Jacob. He should leave Edward alone. I can't stop crying and I haven't been keeping track of time. I know we have been driving a long time though.
"Five more minutes," I hear Alice whisper just loud enough for me to hear.

-Alice-
Edward and I were playing chess, hilariously fun, when I saw an image that did not involve chess pieces. I stiffened; then relaxed. So they liked Isle Renesmee. Good. It WAS my idea, after all.
And suddenly, I saw something that did not make me smile. I sighed and flicked my king over. It wasn't worth it.
* * *
Edward was the only one who would play chess with me anymore, mainly because it was fair.
I was a little depressed that there wasn't any wedding to be planned, and I didn't have any new project planned. Then, it hit me. RENESMEE'S CLOSET! Well, I'd already stocked her new house's (Esme had given them their own house, she'd designed it and everything) mega-sized walk in closet and helped furnish the house, but I could always remodel her closet to look like a boutique!
I smiled in anticipation. I had to go call Esme!
